Final Projection on hoops
Final Video
Initial testing with the projector. You can see the size of the projection quite clearly - its far too close to the window but can be moved back along the rigging system.
Hanging the Hoops
This is our first edit on the final film
Hanging our Design :
We are looking at exhibition wire to hang our design. The total length of the space to wire is 8m. So we would need at least 16 meters of wiring for both layers of hoops.
This will allow us to discreetly hang the design behind the metal framing of the window. Currently choosing between 3mm & 2.5 mm.
New Hoops have arrived!!!
We organised for the company, that supplies the massey textile department, to supply us with 40 hoops in the following sizes:
Large Hoops = 35cm Diameter
Small Hoops = 21cm Diameter
The hoops were ordered through massey and gained a 10% handling fee. In order to avoid this fee we would be required to register as a company and order the hoops ourselves. This could be organised for Lux.
Total Cost: $176
Capital E visit and testing
- Projector needs to be moved backwards to project onto full size of window area. Take measurements from Wednesday and Fridays presentations.
- Timer.. how will it turn off?
Weekly Plan - stuff to include in presentation
Cropping of footage - images for story board
Storyboarding:
Intial gathering sand placing of successful clips.
Need to add Cuba Street clips
This week we split into three groups to cover a greater area. There was a team in a car with a go pro, a team centred around the CBD/Parliment and one team covering Cuba Street. These are some stills of potential shots for use in our projection. We can edit these to create a great contrast in colour, pattern, forms, speed and content.
Mapping out dimensions of the space. This space down the side of the building has a lot more scope for the project. There is a lot less light pollution on this side as two of the interior walls either side of the exhibition will be black, o ne being a temporary wall of curtaining, it can be opened during the day so the space can be used. This also means that our exhibition can stay up during the festival as during the day the curtain can simply be pulled back to enclose the hoops between the curtain and the window. It won’t be touched or knocked, it will stay protected. The projectors in the space are positioned in the optimum place as they are fixed to a tracking system on the ceiling. They can be moved backwards and forwards and moved from side to side along metal poles. The projector can be spun around to face the window, and the projection can be played on a loop through the main front of house computer.
