Lily looked around at the tiny cafe with a smile on her face, she had a lot of good memories in here. “My Dad used to take me here, this is where my parents met. This place has a lot of history, the top part of it has always been a cafe but that used to be a cover for what it really was. Originally it was a brothel and then it was turned in to a speakeasy, that’s when Millie took over, before finally it was just a coffee house. Millie has a ton of great stories, she’s lived a really interesting life.” She informed him proudly, nodding over at the elderly female warlock.
She took a sip of her hot chocolate and settled back against the worn but comfortable armchair, letting out a sigh of relief, she didn’t get to come here as often anymore so it was nice to just relax. “This is the new me. I am now Lily the rebel. Sneaking out after curfew and stealing candy from babies.” She laughed, placing her drink back on the table..
“I can stay for a bit, of course, I’ve got to give you time to finish your three coffees.” She was positive Felix wouldn’t be sleeping tonight after drinking all that caffeine. She leaned forward and spoke in a lower voice, there were only a few other people in the cafe but she could never be sure who may be listening in. “There have been a few attacks that I’m aware of. No fatalities so that’s good news at least. It’s so frustrating though that we have living victims of the attacks but none of them ever remember what their attacker looked like. I thought maybe if it were a warlock either doing the attacks or involved in someway that maybe there was some kind of memory erasing spell?”
"Color me impressed. A brothel and a speakeasy - dreams do come true.” Felix followed Lily’s glance over towards Millie, the apparent owner. Come to think of it, something in her face was familiar, but he’d definitely never spoken to her before. “I’ll have to talk to her later, then - to mine her deep storytelling resources. I can honestly say I’ve never seen this place in my life.”
“You mean all your youthful charm and innocence has only been the front for an unruly rebellious streak? I should have known.” Felix took a long gulp of his first cup of coffee, stifling a moan. Yes. This was a good choice, he thought as he looked at the cups of coffee laid out in front of him. The best choice, in fact. He took a moment to bask in the brilliance of the caffeine before he looked back up at Lily with a grin. “Children quake with fear when they catch sight of you, I’m sure. Really, though, when you get caught, don’t blame me. Especially if it’s just going to make your shadowhunters annoyed at me for... tempting you to the dark side. Or whatever.” He rolled his eyes.
Lily said she would stay until he finished all three of his coffees... that wouldn’t take nearly as long as she probably thought - it was a miracle they weren’t gone already - but he would make it work. Felix listened intently as Lily explained - some attacks, no deaths, and no one attacked remembered a thing. “It’s possible,” he said slowly, thinking through the relevant magics. There were a number of enchantments, and even spelled objects, that could cause that effect. “Though it’s just as likely that if that’s the case, the attacker may have only bought the charm from a warlock. I wish that narrowed it down, but we do business with everyone.”
