“I’m not giving up, I just…. I don’t know if it’s ever going to work. I just…. maybe I have to be realistic about this.”
“That’s basically giving up Kyle, well you have to be realistic yes but positive too. You’re not just realistic right now but negative too.”
“Thanks, Lux. You’re pretty amazing too, I’m sure your brothers adore you.”
“Well my brother barely talks to me and my sister is away with her semester program. But I hope you are right.”
He frowns slightly and turns his eyes back to his work. It’s nearly impossible to concentrate with his ex sitting beside him, but he tries his best. If he needs to read a paragraph four or five times before he understands what he read, so be it.
She was far from concentrating, she was pretending she was reading because she was more concentrated on all the thoughts that were on her mind. What am I doing here? Why did I even talk to him? He doesn’t even care? What is he doing? Can he concentrate? She shook her head trying her best to read what was in font of her, letting out a small sight.
“Of c-c-course from m-m-me it’s the b-b-best thing.I am t-t-the best you know.”
“Yes you are, we need more guys like you around here. No cheaters or back stabbing or those mean kind of guys.”
“I… don’t know. Maybe it would save us both sitting here feeling sorry for me.”
“I don’t feel sory for you. I feel worried for you, you’re just giving up on what you love so easily. You’re not the only one that has gone through this, but I know you are one of the few that can survive it plus you’re really special to me. So I’m not going anywehre.”
“That’d be great, now I might stand a chance of dancing better.” Luke furrowed his eyebrows and thought about it. Should’ve been an easy question, but it wasn’t at all. “I would, obviously, but… I mean, I don’t understand why you do. If you d-d-d-do that is, I didn’t mean to p-presume… I’m s-s-sorry.”
“Well you still have to show me those moves you have.” She smiled before paying attention to his words. “Well why wouldn’t I want to keep doing it?” She smiled sweetley again.
“As a little sister, she can be terrifying, but she is definitely cute and amazing most of the time. You think so though?”
“I know so. Plus you’re pretty amazing, without trying to win some points, Ethan.”
“I got it from this cute lil’ shop outside the train station.”
“Oh my god one of those vintage shops. I love them.”
He nods, looking at the book. “Nice. I’m working on the same thing in a way.” He shows her the cover of his own book. “History of music 1700 to 1850. The worst class. I mean it’s interesting, but so boring.”
“That’s nice...” She tried before opening up her book. “I won’t interrupt you again. I’ll just concentrate in my work.” She look down at her book.
“Really? You do?!”
“Yep, were you got it from?”
“True but I still need to try and earn it, or she’ll tell me off. She’s scary sometimes.”
“Vi is little and cute, she can’t be as scary as you might see her. You can totally do it, but yes try to win her over again. That gives you best bro points.”
“I am not being a baby. I am paralyzed. I think I am allowed to do what I want.” He retorted, unable to return the embrace. “It’s not going to do much for you. Not forgetting about me.”
“You are not. At least not if that means giving up on what you really are and what you really want in life.” She kept hugging him. “Well, what? Well what would it do, if I forgot about you? What would it do for you? for me?”
“C-c-c-can’t I just b-b-be nice to one o-of my favourite p-p-people just cause?”
“Well of course you an. This is just a little weird, but coming from you. Is the best thing.”
“I’ll try t-to keep that in mind Lux. Well true, b-b-but I’d much prefer you lived a little longer so I could h-hang out with you more.” Luke shook his head a little, trying to wrap his head around this. She almost made it sound as if… She liked him? Well, like a crush more than a friend at any rate. But that made no sense at all… “So… Now that y-y-y-you have, d-d-do you not want t-t-to any more?” He asked carefully, not sure of what he was supposed to say.
“Well I will try to keep myself alive so we can hang out a lot.” She smiled sweetly before continuing with her next words. She thought of his question. “I...” She shrugged. “Would you like to keep doing it?”
Hunter turns to look at Lux, surprised by her words. He doesn’t know how to respond or if he even should so he turns away and idly taps his highlighter against his textbook. “What…class are you studying for?” he asks awkwardly after a long moment.
Lux took one of her text and placed it in front of him. “Dance History.” She added taking a deep breath. Trying to make this as less tense as she could, even though it was a little hard not to feel that way.
Lux and Skyler got tired of rowing.
