Remember! Your spells are taglocks leading back to yourself! Make sure to protect yourself! Do what Prim said, keep up your wards, ask for protection from your deities, do whatever you normally do, but double it! All it takes is one Nazi witch asshole to point a spell at a protester and design it to “Harm that protester and anyone protecting them” and that curse is going to find you.
Here’s some things you can do to deter attacks:
Make a witches bottle. There’s a million tutorials out there but the idea is it’s a curse in a bottle and anyone who attacks you will find your decoy in a jar filled with glass, nails, and anything else you put in there. Works well of protecting from spirits (because you better believe someone’s going to invoke something nasty to go out and harm others) but also works well against witches to use their own will to attack you.
House plants. A lot of green witches state that taking care of a house plant, giving it life and nurturing it, will grow an attachment between you. If someone curses you, your house plant will often sacrifice itself to take the spell for you, and keep you safe.
Poppets. You can make a poppet doll out of anything. Make it to represent yourself and cut the tie between you and it. It’s now a spiritual body double. Put it somewhere near by, far away, places you frequent, place it in the trash to be driven to a landfill or even keep it in a pocket. Make a bunch and curses will have a hard time finding the real you and attack the doll instead. YOU NEED TO CUT TIES WITH IT, because if you don’t it’s just going to serve as a link to you and make you an easier target.
Cut ties to your spells. There are lots of ways to do this and I’ll give a few easy, beginner friendly methods, but I encourage you to add to and expand these to work better for you.
Take a sheet of paper, at the top, write the name of the spell you’re going to cast. If the name doesn’t have a name, then name it. you can call it “Fred the protection spell”, it doesn’t really matter. At the bottom of the sheet, write your name. Cast the spell. Immediately after you’re done with the spell, rip or cut the paper in half, so you’re no longer connected. Burn both separately, or bury them apart from each other (burning is probably faster and safer because the paper needs to decompose). Symbolically the link has been cut.
Take a string. You can tie it to something or just let it dangle in your hand. visualize one side stretching off into the distance to the protesters who needs help (or the poppet you made if you’re using this for that) and the other end attached to you. State that this thread represents the taglock between you and those you’re protecting. Snip it in half or burn it. Same concept as the paper version.
Additionally you can place the string in a spirit trap. Stuff a jar full of loose strings (fresh one’s that aren’t attached to you). I mean pack that jar with little snippets of 1 to 6 inches long. Take the end that was attached to the protesters and put it in the jar so the end that was originally facing the protesters is hanging out of the jar. The curse will travel along the string, from the protesters, fall into the jar and be unable to find it’s way out as it circles the jar trying to find the right loose sting. Also works great with spirits. Burn your end of the string so theirs no loose ends in case it gets out. It’ll just look for a string that no longer exists.
Cleanse your space after casting spells, it’ll just make you a little harder to find.
Consider casting a spell to help protect other witches who are fighting the good fight. Like Prim said, there’s safety in numbers. If we all have each other’s backs and protect one another, it’ll be that much harder for a curse to reach us.
Kind of post prevention, but LEARN HOW TO REMOVE CURSES. There’s a bunch of ways to do this too, find the way that works for your practice, tradition and path. If all else fails, at least you can fix yourself and others up before you go back into battle.
Wards. Prim already mentioned wards, but I’m going to mention it again. WARD your home, your work, your car, you self. Put up those protective barriers around anything that might be venerable.
Amulets. If you have a protective charm of any type, I would keep it on you. A religious symbol, a protective stone, something you’ve made or was gifted you you. I always have amulets on me for protection.
Return to sender spells. Another popular kind of spell that you can find a ton of tutorials on. It’s something you cast to actively or passively return any curses cast on you to go back to the person who cast it. Remember, spells are taglocks and if someone curses you than you have a link to them that you can send that shit right back on.
Spiritual guardians. If you work with spirits or have some kind of familiar or spirit companion, make sure to give them a heads up so they know what might be coming your way and can better prepare for it. You’re a team, communication is important, especially for safety.
If you’re pro-curse, consider tying a little “anyone who would bring harm to my charge will [insert horrible curse here].” to your protection spells.
If you’re not pro-curse, try thinking outside the box. Try to force those Nazi fucks to see the error of their ways through metaphysical suggestion, and tie that to your protection spell. Maybe limit it to backfiring on them, if you’re ok with that. It’s up to you and what you’re morally ok with.
Regardless of your stance, consider what you can to to keep them from doing more harm. Bindings, backfires, reap what you sow, hexes, whatever you think is best and are comfortable with.
