✕       ╱         she laughs, and it lacks humor. of course annalise would find a way of disagreeing with her – and she really doesn’t mind, much. “ the moisture. ”   she repeats the girls words, amused. there was a word she wouldn’t use to describe macau’s weather, and yet it makes sense – slightly. nari blows another cloud of smoke, noticing that her cigarette is almost at the end, which makes her consider lighting another. “ i won’t even ask your definition of ‘ worse ’. ” her eyes scanned the girl, stopping for a brief second at he crossed arms as a soft smirk appears on red lips. “ what are you doing out at this hour ? ”

𝘼𝙉𝙉𝘼𝙇𝙄𝙎𝙀 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆𝙎 𝘿𝙊𝙒𝙉 𝘼𝙏 𝙃𝙀𝙍𝙎𝙀𝙇𝙁,            the red gown  sticks  to her skin and her heels click against the floor in weariness.  she should be inside the tall,  sparkling  building,  speaking with the country’s richest and,  quite frankly,   craziest  residents.  but she’d much rather be out here,  enjoying an impromptu conversation with someone she didn’t think she’d talk to  ---  well,   ever.   she takes a breath,  positioning her arms so that she now holds one elbow and lets the other arm hang to play with a piece of her dress.  “ escaping reality,  i guess.  it’s so  suffocating  in there. ”   annalise shrugs and looks at the lights of the building next to her before letting her eyes gaze toward nari once more.  “ what you are doing ?  other than ---”    she looks at the cigarette in nari’s hand with a bitter scowl  “ ---slowly  killing  yourself ? ”

✕        ╱        it was humid. the streets glistened, a thin layer over the asphalt made the neon lights glisten even more vividly, burning against her retina. it made everything seem distant, and surreal – it made her think one again that it was her reality. she blew a cloud of smoke; not a fan of smoking, but it was for the jittery nerves; or simply for killing the time. not a fan, but she would abide for it, if it meant not having an idle mind to deal with. she sat on her car’s hood, the cold material making her silk dress stick against her thighs – humid. another cloud of smoke. “ it’s going to rain soon. ” she spoke to no one, in particular. she didn’t expect to make a conversation out of it, either, she just said it – that simple. “ can’t you fucking feel it? it’s always this disgusting before it rains. ”

𝘿𝙄𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙎𝙏𝙀 𝙁𝙄𝙉𝘿𝙎 𝙄𝙏’𝙎 𝙒𝘼𝙔 𝙊𝙑𝙀𝙍               her features at the smoke the other woman’s burning cigarette manifests.  she can’t blame her for the habit,  though.  everyone has their  vices  ;  that much she knows.  she’s leaning against one of the city’s many lights,  wrists  jingling  with every movement.  the lights and sounds of the club had her on edge,  so she’d come out here in hopes to find some  solace  in the darkness of the night.  she glances around,  not sure if the other speaks to her or to some other entity perhaps hidden in the shadows.  annalise decides to speak up anyhow,  as she seems to do often  ;  unasked.  “ are we really talking about the  weather  right now ? ”  a huff falls past stained lips and her bare arms move to cross over her chest.  she rather enjoys the humidity  ;  it does something for her skin.  “ if you mean the  moisture,   i like it.  at least could be  worse,   you know. ”

           — IT WAS A TYPICAL EVENING for yuri kwon. she found herself at yet another lavish cocktail party with some of the biggest names in all of the big industries of the city. politicians, business men, and starlets all mingled and laughed from their positions on top of the world. her gown glittered as she moved about the room, catching everyone’s attention even if only for a split second as she walked by. she nodded in recognition at the vice president of a big pharmaceutical company ( yuri made a mental note to greet him on behalf of her brother later on ) before another familiar face caught her eye near the bar. now this was not a face she had been expecting to see tonight. yuri reached the bar without addressing the other, choosing instead to order a drink from the bartender first before acknowledging the other. “ fancy meeting you here. is this some sort of special occasion ? ”

𝙎𝙃𝙀 𝙃𝘼𝙏𝙀𝘿 𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙎𝙀 𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙏𝙄𝙀𝙎             ------  more so when she was  forced  to go.  she hadn’t attended one in a while and it was becoming more and more  suspicious   ;  was she even part of elysium anymore ?  people had been  wondering.   so she had decided to attend in one of her  best  dresses.  something her father would surely  reprimand  her for later,  going on about how the  new  face of the business should never be seen in such attire.  she’s downing another glass of champagne from the free bar  ( never a good idea )  when she notices the other coming toward her.  annalise nods in acknowledgement before setting her glass down to answer her question.   “ hmph,  figured i should give everyone a show for the new year. ”   she turns around to face the crowd,  back now facing the bartender who is refilling her empty glass with  bubbles.   a silent exchange is made as she picks up the glass and swallows its contents,  putting it once again in it’s place to be filled.  the slit of her silver dress runs almost to her hip,  leg fully exposed and red heel  clicking  on the floor to the beat of live music.   “ don’t think too much of it  ;  i hear someone’s making a  huge  announcement tonight.  thought it’d be worth hearing in person. ”

born into wealth and privilege,  annalise grew up only knowing so.  her life was all books,  studies,  and whatever else her parents decided for her

finding schoolwork rather easy,  she blew through her studies and graduated from college at the young age of seventeen and began to work for her father immediately,  not knowing anything else

she became a member of elysium after her interest in it’s conflict with the cicadas,  joining alongside her parents

annalise has trouble allowing people into her life and her social skills are nowhere near that of someone her own age due to her unconventional childhood.  her only friends were the ones she read about in books and the tutors that came to visit her everyday

she has a taste for disaster and joined elysium for the sole purpose of finding more disaster in her life

she continues to climb the ranks at elysium by any means, even against her own parents' wishes that she stay descrete for the good of the business

annalise has been diagnosed with ocd and has been seeing therapists for it for years.  she craves perfection in her work and will not allow otherwise.

an enemy,  someone who annalise cannot stand in the least.  they break every mold she has about how people should act and seem to be doing it simply to irk her.  they are bold and reckless and everything annalise hates about the world while also being everything she wishes to be

an arranged marriage,  something common in the privileged society full of family businesses expecting their children to take over their company one day.  they had known each other if only for a moment in childhood only to be sworn together again as adolescents.  as if in a fit of rage,  the two had promised one another to never marry,  no matter what.  but their promise starts to break when feelings take place.

how you found the rp:  found it through cecy’s blog and i was instantly intrigued!! i love the plot!

𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒆

why they are in macau:  she wasn’t born in macau,  and for a long time macau wasn’t even something the family thought about.  they lived out their life in beijing with a house in the suburbs,  letting the help raise the young girl and cram her full of studies to one day take over the law firm her father had founded.  she was soaring through her academics at the speed of light,  always quick to finish something in order to impress her father.  in the spring before she turned 12,  her mother’s extravagant life took them to the city of macau.  it was then that her father decided to take up residency here to build the firm.  she continued her education as always,  with tutors in the comfort of her own home,  which was now a pent - house overlooking the large city and it’s lights. 

what made them turn to the group they’re in:  of course she’d thought of her life as a member of elysium a thousand times.  upon their move to macau,  her father had found his place there and soon after her mother.  it was like a lineage  ;  she only played with little girls whose families were part of elysium and anyone else  -------  well,  their influence could be given to other little girls whose futures weren’t so dependent on how their childhood went.  her life had been all books and studies for the first part of her life,  she’d graduated high school at fourteen and college at seventeen,  finding a job as an intern,  which for the time being was something for her to learn every aspect of what went into a law firm.  soon,  it’d be hers.  all this had been set out for her since the moment she’d been born and maybe she wanted some kind of change,  or maybe she wanted to appease the ones who raised her.  they’d done so with the intention that she join elysium and gain power so perhaps it’s what she was born to do.  it wasn’t until she learned of conflicts between two opposing powers,  that her interest was piqued and she joined officially.

what their ambitions in the group are:  her father had told her of all the politics that go into elysium,  though she’d never really listened until she had shown her own interest upon graduating college.  it was then that she started noticing his change in demeanor at the mention of elysium and the others that he always spoke of with poison lacing his words.  until then,  elysium had been nothing more to her than some group her parents were a part of and something she would soon have to find herself enveloped in  ( despite her own dreams for a life ).  now,  it screamed at her,  and she couldn’t say that anything in her life had done that before then.  something about the conflict between two powers made her heart beat fast and sweat form on the back of her neck.  and in lieu of all the years she had not listened,  now was her time to learn.  

how their group members would describe them:  annalise,  coming from power and wealth,  of course has trouble taking orders.  of course her parents had always told her doing something as common as taking orders just wasn’t something she was made for.  so,  yes,  she struggles with such.  but the dedication and pure fire she puts in when she does want to do something is beyond measurable.  when she wants something,  she gets it.  and by any means necessary,  no matter the cost  ( as it can always be paid ).
