Since Bleachโs ending the are two great main way if thinking about him: who hates him, and who loves him, obviously. But, of course, there are even tons of others positions, but those are the most relevant to what I have to write.
Personally I saw people saying โKubo is our Kingโ, and those are people whose pairs became canon, I do not even need to nominate them. I do not know, if any people of IH and RR wanted their canon written better than how Kubo did, but a great part seems indifferent, or worse, seems satisfied. Then I ask me: why they are so satisfied? It is a song of glory for winning of the long ship-war between IR, IshiHime or UlquiHime? Are they happy because Kazui and Ichika had sex? But over that, what Kubo gave them? I am trying to understand with a neutral point of view, and I read again moments between Ichigo and Orihime or Renji and Rukia, but what I read is always the same.
Kubo wrote canon ships in which Rukia, the day of her marriage, has a worried face and Byakuya seems to live it as something totally irrelevant, and are the official pictures from the book that shows us, it is not a mine interpretation. And Ichigo, Ichigo to declare his love for Orihime needs Renji to tell him โ hasnโt she waited too long? โ? I always though that Ichigo was that kind of man who has no problems to declare his feelings, and it is not a thought of mine, but is just as Kubo wrote him.
I think that saying that Ichigo fell in love with Orihime, or Rukia with Renji is legit for who support the ship, but it is not written. I am sorry, but no one can tell the contrary. People can say โduring the years after the last arc happened a lot of thingsโ. Ok, ma no one of those things are written. Must be understood that all theories are necessary linked to what the author written. If we talk about a rage of time about Kubo neither wrote, than anyone can say everything, because everything is legit to be told. I think we can imagine, read and think according what is written, and what is written about canon pairs is nothing, and about all the others characters absolutely nothing. And I tell that because
IchiHime has been developed. Where? When? To me three arguments are enough to left this thesis and go forward. At first: if IchiHime was really meant to be canon, than the FB arc is more pointless that how it actually was, because in the whole arc Orihime tries to start a deeper and more confidential relationship with Ichigo, who actually always said โ sorry Orihime, I am busyโ. Then in the last arc, when Orihime is in the floor and covered of blood, the only thing Ichigo says is โher shield does not workโ. I wonโt comment his โ enthuse โ while calling Orihime at Renji and Rukia'arrival. You can tell everything, he loves her etc. but Kubo absolutely has no written anything that shows us a tender marriage, and he had to, it was a duty for a canon pair. I do not know if Ichigo loves Orihime, because in the manga has never shown me that. At last, Ichigo protected Orihime the same way he protected Nel, or Ishida. And in the last arc, the most important memory, after that of his mother, is about a woman that is not Orihime, but Rukia. According to what is written I canโt think anything but a mn incoherent ending.
We absolutely know nothing about 80% of characters. I do not know who is dead and who is alive, except for the 20% of characters. And we either know which choises put the characters to their jobs. Uryuu as doctor as he never wanted to be? Chad has a boxer while he declared with an oath he had used his force to protect? And Ichigo? Do not start with ideas and thoughts, because according to what Kubo shows us, and the authority is in what Kubo writes, not what we think, he is not a Shinigami. Why I say that? Because the only mean through which the audience can understand he is still a Shinigami is explicitizing it. He hasnโt seen Rukia for years, Kubo makes this evident when Rukia comments how Ichigoโs sister grown up and by the fact that Ichika and Kazuiโs encounter was their first one.
So even if there are tons of incoherences, these seems irrelevant. Kubo is their king, stop.
There are even those who hate Kubo and do not want to support him, those are not only the supporters of non-canon pairs, but even people who thought that Bleach ending was too delusional, how it really has been. People burned their mangas etc. Well, I do not condman neither judge these action and those feelings. Because people who supported Kubo, spending money for volumes, books, movies, art books, gadgets, dresses etc., saw all those fiveteen years burned in a chapter. I am not talking only about shippers, I am talking about the whole fandom. If people now hate or just disapprove Kubo, 85% of fandom I think, people should try to find an answers, and not to comment โbutthurtโ etc. Because it is not a thing that find origin in the fandom, but in the bad-writing of Kubo.
What I think about Kubo, for those who are interested and survived at my sea of words (sorry for the long post, really).
I loved Kubo because of his creativity. I loved and love his poems, that are full of pessimism, in philosophical terms, cinism and scepticism. His work if full of symbolism, of not pronunced words, because he enlightened feelings through the eyes and the facts. What are words in front of facts? I loved and still love lots of his characters, well written, with personality, passions, interests, dreams and fears. I love his way of painting. I loved everything of his work, except the last chapters of the last arc, which started well but finished as a tragedy. What I think about him, now? I still respect him, because even if he killed his own work, he created Bleach, he created Rukia, that to me, is the great masterpiece of Bleach. I do now know if he joked with IchiRuki supporters, or IchiHimes, I do now know if he trolled all his fans. I think we wonโt never understand why really Bleach how it ended, maybe because his manga was not selling anymore, maybe he was just tired of Bleach, I do not know. I am not happy about what he gave us two years ago, but I am happy about what he gave us before. So I do not share his decisions, but I still respect him, because over everything, he will always be the creator of Bleach.
