Mrs. Saffold’s Junior School History Class have been discussing different inventors/inventions during the Industrial Revolution. Cadets were experimenting with a Cup Phone Conference Call. They were not expecting this to work, so their faces said it all when they could hear someone who was not directly linked to them.
The Senior School Science Department teaches with “pets in the classroom”. Mr. Ogletree said “Cadets are different when interacting with pets while teaching. Each day, Lucy and Pedro, are given to a different cadet to build a responsibility from feeding to cage maintenance.” The birds were donated by Cadet Davison’s family. The Science Department is always in need of donations of gift cards to purchase supplies for animals as well as new pets for the classroom. If you would like to donate, please email [email protected]

Mrs. Saffold’s Junior School History class divided up into 2 teams to see who could get the most “Hershey Kisses” wrapped in 10 minutes. I allowed enough time for a little planning and deciding who was going to have what job. I had the 8th graders helping out with this activity, and it went very well. The winning team wrapped 15 “Hershey Kisses” in 5 minutes. They had an organized system, and it worked! The other team completed 8 Kisses in that time. I asked them what happened, and they were unorganized and not working together. They were able to tell me what they should have done differently to help the process flow more efficiently. Materials that were used for this assignment: aluminum foil, flat marbles, ribbon.
Chief Ogletree has cadet’s go hands on with Biology once again. The studying of Disease Symptoms and Treatment for Camallanus Worms, Dropsy or Malawi Bloat, Ichthyophtirius, Hole in the Head, Lateral Line Erosion – HLLE, Pop-Eye, Oodinium, Swim Bladder Disease. “Welcome to Biology” Cadet Reese is holding “Pedro” the class mascot beta. Cadet Reese’s parents donated the fish inside the tank this year to be studied or researched for Biology. Thank you Reese Family!
Chief Ogletree halts Chemistry Lecture to incorporate hands on visual. Cadets incorporated Acids and Bases within the class. This allows the cadet to see and understand with more in-depth clarification rather than just reading its reaction and properties.
Chief Ogletree can be heard through Tallapoosa Hall echoing his Power Point Lectures. He keeps the cadets in stride and on the mission with his strong style of classroom management. A day in the life at Tallapoosa Hall within the Science Department is challenging. He is assisting one of our 3rd year students with a question in reference to his lecture notes. Mr. Ogletree instructs and lectures in Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, and Biology.
