If it had been anyone else, he isn’t sure that he would have BOTHERED to acknowledge them. Magnus, however, would recognise that voice ANYWHERE, having shared a living space with the other for weeks on end, and although his movements to spin on his heel are slow, his expression is far from hostile when dark eyes land on the Shadowhunter. ❝ You just did, ❞ he points out, gaze glimmering with amusement & something that looks a little like RELIEF as a result of finally being met with a familiar face ( he’ll be damned if Jace picks up on THAT, though ). ❝ But I suppose I’ll allow my … ELEVENTH favourite Shadowhunter to ask another question. ❞ Does he even LIKE eleven Shadowhunters ? The topic’s up for debate.
❝ I’ve heard of inter - dimensional travel—- ❞ Of course Magnus has; SEELIES may be forbidden from revealing such secrets, but he’s come across many demons whose hubrises had been rooted in tales of their escapades through the Fair Folk’s dimensional doorways—- ❝ But as far as I know, there’s no record of anything like THIS. People being pulled from their own universes into this town … It seems like an unprecedented aberration. ❞ Too late, he realises that he’s likely acting TOO calm, and the warlock takes a moment to exhale quietly before waving a hand towards the other. ❝ Are you alright ? ❞
Feet fall to a halt, breath slowly regaining itself. There was something strange about this man, something which Jace felt as if he should have been able to recall. The way the man spoke, his comment forced Jace back. What familiar feeling, he had. Incapable of figuring out the connection, his brows narrowed from anger. Holding back the flooding thoughts, Jace exhaled a soft sigh. “ -- Right. Well that wasn’t the question. It was more of a statement,” he muttered, carefully monitoring the stranger. The man only gave him more worry, a strange sense that the stranger seemed to know him. How? Was it possible for one to recall their memories they had lost? Jace felt cheated, perhaps jealous of this man’s capabilities. “Shadowhunter? What the hell is that?” Jace muttered, taken back by the odd phrase. “Why are you calling me that?”
It suddenly came to Jace, that perhaps this man was the only connection to his past. That perhaps, by some odd favor, the stranger’s purpose was to seek him out. “I don’t know what you are talking about. But if you, by any chance, know what is happening, please share with the crowd.” A step back, forced Jace to reevaluate the circumstance. The stranger, while having a certain connection to Jace, spewed words far out of the male’s realm of possibility. Inter- dimensional travel felt comical, only something one would experience when sitting down in a theater. He had hoped that the man would offer some light on Jace’s past, though was suddenly disappointed when there seemed no ounce of normality between the words. “I don’t know -- do you know me?”
