Well that was the end ofĀ āKeeping Quietā. Earl was usually an easy recogniser of right and wrong, but given the circumstances⦠Did he do something wrong or not? He didnāt want to just run away obviously, but what else could he do? Wait hold onā¦
āBefore art thou say anything, I wasnāt going to annoy you by any chance! More so they did. But I am here instead to⦠See if I could be of any use!ā
āIt would have been annoying if you got hit. But youāre standing back there so I couldnāt care less. Itās not like my whip is a secret,ā he waved his hand dismissively, āIām just clearing my head. Doing something else and coming back to planning later so I have a fresh pair of eyes. I donāt need help unless you know how to weave targets from licorice.ā
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Earl continued to make his way through the wicket with the guide of the Licorice bites. Eventually they all caught up with Lord Licorice. Earl couldnāt help but wonder how and why Lord Licorice was so strategic. The way he dealt with what approached him and how ruthless he was! Those were some of the things Earl dreamt to improve the most. He was almost jealous of him. He still tried to keep as quiet as possible so it wouldnāt seem like he was ruining things. Though when there are a pack of Licorice bites all around you, keeping quiet is easier said than done.
Lord Licorice tilted his head, listening, but when all he heard was the licorice bites he shrugged it off. He didnāt turn to look, thinking it was only the bites that followed him. āGo get me some soda,ā he demanded, looking away before doing a quick double take, spotting Earl. āWhat are you doing out here?ā
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Earl just sat back in his room thinking about what he couldāve done. For some reason he couldnāt get his mind off the questions that he wanted to answer. Why didnāt he tell him already he thought. He couldnāt tell him now could he? What if he was busy?
Then thatās when he heard the sound of Lord Licoriceās whip. Then he heard his footsteps. He decided to go investigate what was going on and thatās when he saw him leave for the wicket. He secretly followed behind him. Even though he was more than welcome, he still didnāt want to interfere with his plans. What he forgot about, was that because he earned the trust of the licorice bites⦠Well, the licorice bites couldnāt help but follow him quietly.
Lord Licorice, deep within the wicket to keep himself from getting rusty with his whip and to clear his head. When Earl found him he would have already of cracked quiet a few targets by hitting them in the center so many times. The current target cracked and Lord Licorice curled his whip at his hip, grabbed the two pieces and flung them into the growing pile of broken target pieces, and put another target on and turned around.
Two Paths.

Earl smiled at Lord Licoriceās allowance to let him join along on a plan. Even if it wasnāt now it was still a delight. However, a spark of memory soon flashed inside his mind at that moment. It was as if he was beginning to clearly remember something he almost forgot about⦠Questions. It had only been a day or two since he arrived, but Lord Licorice made him acquainted with so much of the new world he was in already, that it felt silly to not get him acquainted with more knowledge back, though he didnāt know how or when to do that. Maybe after a scheme he thought?
āā¦Well, thank thee very much! I⦠W-well let me know if you need me to do anything or want me to join in with your scheming. I better get back to my studying now as itās one of my priorities. Once again, I thank thee for accepting my request!ā
And with that Earl walked back to his room, all while feeling quietly disappointed in himself. A disappointed feeling that said internally āWhy didnāt I follow through with the questions?!ā
After Earl left, Lord Licorice went straight to his office, but as soon as he sat down to look over his notes his mind was overcome with the buzzing of not having any ideas. And he sat for only a moment, staring at his papers, before throwing his hands in the air and grabbing his whip.
With his weapon in hand he made into the wicket, not at all far from the castle, and cleared his mind with ship practice.
The sounds of his whip echoed through the wicket, but never got far out of it.

Earl couldnāt help but become more and more intrigued by Lord Licoriceās plans. It had been a long while since he last did anything along those lines of aĀ āSchemeā, and he thought that if he were to join him, it would be the perfect opportunity to not only jot down notes for spells, but experiment with some. Though the question is would he like it if he joined himā¦
āā¦You wouldnāt mind if I accompanied you? I-I mean I donāt want to annoy you that is not my intention obviously! Itās just if I need to practice and understand the details extremely often then I would need a glimpse of what I need to study rightā¦?ā
āWell youād be more than welcome to join me. But this plan is in the early stages. Hardly viable as of right now, not with so many questionable variables,ā he rubbed his chin, āI canāt used the lumberjack to distract the chocolate swamp monster, I think theyāre friends. So Iāll need to draw them in different directions.ā
He waved his hand, āNever mind that. Youāre more than welcome to come. But itās a while until that point. If you need some practice I can always bring you into the wicket. No one will bother you there.ā
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Lord Licorice seemed to have a very keen sense of focus as well as perfection in Earlās eyes. It seemed his way of preparation was very skilled. Though starting over and taking notes from the beginning seemed a bit too far fetched. But no matter, Earl complied.
āWell⦠I suppose why not⦠One more thing, Iām just wondering if we have any preparations or plans today. You know like one of those evil schemes or terrorising Candyland what not? I know it may sound like Iām rushing things but I always wondered more about how the process workedā¦ā
āIāve got plans on paper, but they need to be refined. I donāt control the more spontaneous plans. But right now Iām planning on using candy cane trees to block the chocolate river to cause a flood. Right now Iām thinking on ways to keep the lumberjack and the thing that lives in the river busy.ā He tapped his fingers on his cane. āAs of right now I havenāt come up with anything. But if youāre so interested, Iāll be sure to let you know when I do.ā
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
It wouldnāt be until a while later that Earl came out of the bathroom freshened. It was a relief that these Candy people knew basic hygiene and had such necessities. As Earl closed the bathroom door behind him, he saw that Lord Licorice was still looking over the notes he made. Earl was extremely careful to take full note on all of the important details of the different magical info that was filled in those books.
āI see you are looking over my writing. Do you have any⦠Feedback?ā
He only slightly lifted his head to let Earl know that he acknowledged his presense before he tapped a single finger on the desk in thought, āYouāre still learning the contents of the books, so itās impossible to say. Right now all I can suggest is going through everything and taking notes, and them going through them again. That way youāll be able to look at them with the full knowledge of everything and also be able to come up with fresh ideas instead of having to take everything in,ā he said.
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
That DEFINITELY woke Earl up more. Earl forgot for a while that this guy was still in a sense, a man of fear. Especially considering how nice he was to let him sit freely in his castle after the whole gone from home situation. Well, the first time they met he was threatening him. Quite the wake up call.
Earl was gonna get ready anyway, so he quietly walked away to the bathroom to freshen up. He definitely didnāt want to look like a mess himself. While walking in, he wondered. If this guy was supposed to scare him and threaten him, why wasnāt he ready to do the job? But thatās not what he should be thinking about. What he should be thinking about, is the plan.
As soon as Earl had left the room Lord Licorice moved into the room, right to the desk. He leaned over the ledge of the desk and down at the notes. He gently picked one up, looking over what Earl wrote. He quickly leafed through the notes, eyes scanning quickly as he skimmed the notes.
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Earl shook his head just to make sure he was back in reality from all of the exhaustion from last night. Then he saw the mess of books and studying from last night. He felt embarrassed that he wasnāt making the place as tidy as one like him should. Earl may be a villain, but that didnāt mean he was mannerless.Ā
āApologies about the sudden mess⦠I guess Iāve been too focused with this business. Iāll clean this up and then Iāll eat.ā
Earl grabbed his wand and was about to cast a tidying up spell, but suddenly he felt tired again, sitting back down on the chair. Guess he would be like this for a while after all of that studying.
Lord Licorice snorted, rolled his eyes and waved his hand, āI donāt care. As long as those books stay in good condition and youāre keeping the mess contained to this room make as much of a mess as you like. Itās not like this is anything compared to what my study can look like when Iām chasing a thought off the rainbow road.ā
He looked over, āJust take care of yourself too. I donāt want you making my castle smell because youāre neglecting your hygiene. If that happens Iām going to drag you kicking and screaming and throwing you into my cauldron. Which wont be pleasant because itās metal on an open fire.ā
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Morning arrived. And Earl fell asleep while studying. Seemed all of that practice took a toll on his sleep schedule after all. It seemed he needed 5 more minutes of rest⦠Until the knock at the door came. Earl jumped and fell out of the chair he fell asleep in. He shook his head and rubbed his eyes wondering what the noise was that awoke him. Then he realised how long he was asleep forā¦
āI-I uhh come in! The doorās unlocked!ā
He opened the door and pushed it open with his shoulder.
āI figured youād be holed up in here for so long that youād forget to eat. And while I may not be the best host but I donāt want you dying in my guest room,ā he grumbled as he walked and put the food onto the nightstand.
āIn case youāre curious, itās morning.ā
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Earl simply bowed and thanked the Licorice bites for what they have done as they left to go back to their superior. Earl closed the door to his room, and so began the all day and night studying and note taking of each new spell and each new piece of magical information. He wanted- no NEEDED to practice and study each spell carefully and hard if he wanted to make sure he was able to succeed in his main goal. Even if it meant he would wake up a tired wreck.
Lord Licorice left his house guest to it. He knew what it was like to find new magic and fall down the hole of needing to study it until you either reached the end or passed out. But that also meant he knew how exhausting it could be.
So the next morning he personally brought breakfast up and knocked on Earlās door.
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
āHuh?ā
As Earl heard the door slightly creek open, he was near unaware of what was brought it. But in a short while he stopped his little happy banter and looked down at what the Licorice Bites have gotten him. Earl assumed that it was for what Lord Licorice said about how it would be best to write certain spells down. Guess taking notes really does make a difference. He looked down at the passing by Licorice Bites and ushered them to make their way in front of him.
āIām guessing you brought me this?ā
They nod happily, making a little tower and handing one stack of paper and one ink well with a quill up the little chain they made so they could present the materials to him at his chest height. They looked proud of themselves. And it was a decent amount of paper and ink theyāve brought. Even a few spare quills. Seems like they really were prepared.
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
As Lord Licorice finished his sentence, Earl realised something. New discoveries means new solutions. What if the strategies and ideals could lead to him finally making a breakthrough in his search? And so at the thought of excitement he rushed in a fast pace back to his room. The licorice bites didnāt know how to keep up with the teenagerās speed. He closed the door⦠Stopped. And began cheering and squealing in excitement.
āThis is AMAZING! I canāt believe it! This⦠This could actually work!ā
The licorice bites somehow managed to catch up, only through knowing where his room was. Otherwise they probably wouldnāt have found him. They awkwardly idles around outside before the door opened slightly and paper, an inkwell and a quill was pushed in, the bites looking in to see if he was interested in the stuff through brought.
SAME ENERGY
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Go a little mad? These books really do hold something new for Earl⦠But as long as it was magic he was happy with it. So he decided to grab the nearest one from the pile. The cover still looked quite new for who knows how long it had been sitting there. He seemed quite overjoyed at learning something new. As he walked back up to his room, he thought he could say one more thing as an act of politeness to someone who managed to help him cope during these strange times.
āUhh⦠Lord Licorice? I⦠Thank thee.ā
Lord Licoriceās head snapped up, his eyes slightly wide at the very idea of being thanked. He stared for a moment before waving his hand, but he still seemed to be stalling slightly from just being thanked.
āIf you happen to come across any new discoveries make sure to write them down and stick the paper between the pages. Magic is fickle and trying to learn about it has almost lost me my eyes a few times so anything helps.ā
Two Paths.
evilearlthegreatestdarksorcererā:
Earl could only stare in awe at all of the spell books and potions Lord Licorice had been storing away. Well, yes he was still kind of disappointed at first by the fact that it could take jumping through dozens of hoops just to get back to his world. But then he felt a bit of hope. Maybe if he kept perfecting his skills with all sorts of magic he could be able to figure out some sort of solution! All sorts of books and tools scattered to perfect all sorts of tips and tricks, which one was he to try out first?Ā
āYou own all of these things?ā Earl asked in awe and interest.
āOwn? I wrote all of these. As the only active magic user in he kingdom I have to research everything from the ground up. This is all my own findings so be careful with those books. Ignore the ramblings in the margins, when you feel like youāre on the edge of a discovery you tend to not sleep and go a little mad.ā
He held up one of the pictures. āI might frame this one.ā
