Unfortunately this wasn’t the first time Josh found himself in the grocery store at a ridiculous hour. But when you forget to buy groceries, you run out of things. And when you run out of things, you end up going out in the middle of the night to buy them. It worked out well for him; there was rarely another soul there aside from the tired looking cashier so checkout was miraculously fast. He could run in, grab what he needed, and be out in no time. Which was a relief because honestly, it creeped him out to be the only one in the store.
Since he was already there, Josh figured he might as well shop for the rest of his groceries before he forgets again. Weaving down each aisle, he tossed a few more things into his cart, checking them off of his mental list. As he made his way around the corner, he was surprised to find someone else standing there. They didn’t seem to notice him, or at least they paid him no attention, as he pushed his cart past them. Carefully scanning the shelves, he looked for what he needed before realizing the person was standing right in front of it. Not wanting to be rude, or social for that matter, he waited patiently for them to get what they needed and leave. However, after watching them for a few moments he realized they were looking at the top shelf while hesitantly lifting their hand, knowing they wouldn’t be able to reach whatever it was they wanted. Josh sighed, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he stepped forward.
“You look like you could use some help with that,” he said, reaching up with ease.
Curse being so short. All Ashley wanted was to have a quick trip to the grocery store, get the things she needed, and then live in the library again for a week. Socializing wasn’t something she particularly wanted to do, but it was good to get out once in a while. Everyone she talked to seemed nice but she wasn’t really ready to move on yet.
Focusing back onto the problem at hand, Ashley glared up at the item of her choice as she tried to find a solution. For a place that was magical it didn’t really feel magical at the moment. If only she had some ability that she could use like the other locals. This was even an emergency,
Reaching up Ashley mad a futile attempt as her fingers didn’t even graze against the object. If she tried to climb the shelf she would probably knock over everything. Trying to think of another solution she was surprised when someone came to her rescue.
“Thank you, sometimes being short has it’s disadvantages.” At first she didn’t fully process who she was talking to until the pit in her stomach formed and she nearly dropped the object.
“Oh my god.” It couldn’t be Josh, he was dead. This place couldn’t bring back dead people could it? A lot of supernatural shit did happen though, it was likely. Her stomach twisted in knots as her mind screamed but she couldn’t freak out int he middle of the store. Trying not to freak out too much she laughed nervously trying to ease the tension. “Holy shit. I’m sorry you just look a lot like an old friend who died and it caught me off guard.”
