“I sincerely doubt that you’re gonna choke. You haven’t thus far.”
“You know what I mean, Oliver.”
“Yes, I’m positive. I’m not an idiot.”
“I never said you were. I was just making sure.”
“I think so. But knowing my luck, it could’ve happened anywhere.”
“Well, I’ll help you find it, don’t worry.”
“So you’re sure you lost it in here?”
“I can’t believe someone actually uses these in battle, do you think I could learn?”
“Of course you can.”
Silas smiled down at her, keeping his arm around her back as he held them close; embracing her. “Good because I did too,” he grinned and wrapped his other arm around her, however, he found himself second guessing. “Are you sure? I mean, I’m nothing special. Just a son of Hephaestus and even then I only have barely half of the powers my siblings have. You’re a child of one of the big three, I don’t even add up to you.”
“I’m sure,” Lydia nodded, her eyes staying fixated on his. “That doesn’t mean anything. Who I am, and who you are…that means something, not who our parents are. I like you a lot, and I’m absolutely sure that I want to do this,” she told him.
“I’m outside the cabin, Lyd. Don’t get your knickers in a twist,” He paused, “Besides, I’m head of cabin, what are you gonna do?”
“I wouldn’t do anything even if I was the head of cabin,” Lydia said, “I’d just hope you’d take into account my wishes. I’d rather not choke when walking out of the cabin,” she said, with a sigh. “But fine, do what you like.”
Silas snaked his arm around her lower back and pulled her close, keeping her level to him in the water. His other hand gently caressed her cheek and he brushed his thumb over the soft skin, moving his lips against her’s with an intense passion. As several moments passed with the two lost in the kiss, Silas couldn’t help but pull away for air and allow his body to catch up with his racing heart. “Too late,” he whispered as his eyes locked onto hers, a grin appearing on his lips.
Lydia lost herself in the kiss, letting herself move against his lips as the water shimmered around them. She shivered at every touch, eagerly pressing herself closer to him. When he pulled away, Lydia grinned widely at him, her eyes shining with happiness. “I really liked that.”
“There’s a nice open area by the lake. You’ll need you own equipment though.”
“That, I have. Care to join me?”
Silas only really moved into the deeper water to hide any nerves he was feeling; especially the blush on his cheeks. However, he was left surprised when she claimed she liked him. Perhaps he was over reading what she was saying, but maybe now he should take a chance rather than play it safe. So he swam toward her again, his feet touching the bottom and he looked down on her with a smile. “It’s kind of hard not to, huh?” He teased and cupped her face in his hands before pressing his lips to hers.
Lydia’s heart thumped loudly in her chest as she kept her eyes glued to him, hear breathing shallow as he moved closer to her. Looking up at him, she laughed. “Don’t get cocky now,” she laughed. When his lips met hers, Lydia leant up, kissing him back deeply as she wrapped her arms around his neck,
“Lies. You’re never sorry,” she shook her head with a smile.
“That might be true,” Lydia grinned.
“Time for you to get up. Seriously, sis, it’s almost one.”
“One?” Lydia asked, groaning as she sat up. “That late? Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”
“Like I said, it’s not 8am anymore. It was four hours ago.”
“It’s 12 then?” Lydia asked, standing up. “It’s that late already? Damn.”
“I hope you not planning on using the arena right now. The Nike kids are having a battle royale for the strongest cabin.”
“Of course they are,” Lydia sighed. “I suppose I will have to find somewhere else to train.”
His face softened at her reply, a smile permanently on his lips when in the presence of this girl. Silas glanced down at his hands beneath the water, amazed by how clear it was. “You do?” He asked with uncertainty, keeping his eyes on his hands for a while as the blush on his cheeks slowly faded away. It was a hard feeling to grasp for a boy who came from a life of abandonment, so her words were a puzzle in his mind; but the flutter in his heartbeat didn’t go unnoticed. Silas looked to her again with a smile and finally accepted the feelings he had for her. “How much, exactly?” He added, his smile turning to a smirk just as he took a few steps back to a depth where his chin rested just above water.
Watching him, Lydia awaited his reply, taking note of his expression. “I do,” she nodded, her smile widening. “Very much,” she said quietly, her eyes glued to him as he moved back to the deeper water. “In fact,” she said, her heart thumping in her chest, “I might even say that I love spending time with you.” Nerves were getting the better of her, that was clear, but Lydia had never been one who would shy away from her feelings, or anything for that matter, no matter how scared she was. “I do like you, Silas.”
“Definitely not 8am.”
“8?” Lydia groaned, rubbing her eyes. “What are you doing here at 8am?”
“Around 11:30am.”
