There is a lot going on with that question. You see buttered toast always ends up on the buttered side, because it usually falls from a waist high place. It only has one turn to flip and therefore lands on it’s buttery side. However, if you placed it twice as high it would land on it’s toasty side. 

Cats, however, while they’re falling they orient themselves to fall the right way. They’re actually more likely to survive a ten foot fall rather than a three foot fall.

Seeing as the cat would be the controlling creature the cat would land on it’s feet.

PAST:

The Fletcher girls weren’t just twins; they were one soul divided into two bodies.

If her twin sister Mia, was the moon—quiet, bright, and peaceful—Lyla was the sun, outgoing, wild, and wanting to touch the lives of the people around her. Despite their differences, the two were attached at the hip,in sync with each other in a way most siblings wouldn’t understand.

Although it pained her to watch her sister sit around the house with some boring book, Lyla wanted to get the most out of her time in highschool. She attended every party she could, vowing to try everything at least once. While she was up for really any type of party, Lyla’s poison of choice was alcohol.

And so began Lyla’s affair with drinking. Every weekend, she would go out, drinking until she blacked out. Although Lyla knew she had a problem, she couldn’t bear to tell anyone—especially her sister. The girl hid it until she no longer had the option. One night, the party she was at had been busted, forcing her to call Mia for a ride.  While waiting rather impatiently for her sister where they had agreed to meet, she heard a large, metallic crash from the block over.

Rather curious, the girl ran to see the commotion. When she arrived, she was met with the sight of her sister’s car, crumpled and smoking. One of the boy’s from the party, while trying to evade the police, had crashed into her car.

PRESENT:

It’s been eight years since Mia died and Lyla is still unable to forgive herself for the part she played in her death. Lyla has not had a drop of alcohol since the accident, instead taking the place of Mia as being the family homebody. She now works at the library, hoping that by pursuing a career that Mia would’ve loved, she will honor her in some way. Lately, things have become foggy for Lyla. Mia often visits in her dreams, and Lyla wakes up, experiencing the same gut-feeling she would have as a child: the feeling she’d get the moment her sister walked into the room.
