This week we learned 12th chapter: Discussion Boards, Social News, and Q&A sites. As a matter of fact, there are a range of these sites available for us. Now I would like to throw light on these sites in detail.

  Firstly, I will talk about Discussion Boards. When we were sophomore, we took the course named Business Communication. Our teacher often left Forum assignment to us. At that time, we shared our opinions with our classmates in Forum. Sometimes, we were expected to respond to our classmates. It was really a wonderful way, since we can get to know our classmates better. What’s more, we had chance to read funny stories and had a clear idea of that concept. Forum is just a kind of Discussion Boards. It is really a useful tool for us to get information and exchange our ideas.

  Secondly, let’s look at Social News. People tended to read news on newspaper, TV and radios. While with rapid development of technology, we can read news in different ways. We prefer to get news online. Sometimes, we acquired news on QQ WeChat and Sina Microblog homepage. Besides, we can search news on VOA, BBC, and China Daily. They are all very convenient. We have the access to listen to news on these websites. These online are powerful. They can spread news in a minute.

  Last, but not least, Q&A Sites are also popular among us. Many college students use Tieba to get information. I will show you an example. Last year, a freshman didn’t know how to go home. He asked the question in Tieba. I saw it and realized that we were in the same hometown. Then I told him my QQ account. He added me to his QQ account. We discussed on QQ and I told him the exact way to go home. Also, we can ask information on Baidu. Q&A are very significant for us. They can help us solve problems efficiently.

  These are beneficial for us. We can gain latest information all over the world as soon as possible. Besides, we can share opinions with others and make friends with them. What’s more, they can give us some advice to solve problems. Don’t hesitate, let’s get involved in Social Media Sites and indulge in them.

Sharing Videos with People

Nowadays, a series of social media tools spring up. This week we learned about sharing videos and photos. It really drew our attention. I want to talk about sharing videos today.

                                                      When we were sophomores, our English teacher asked us to make videos. We were expected to finish the project with our group members. Our topics were about different movies. Our group was the last one, so we wanted to help our classmates to go over all the movies we had watched in this semester. Firstly, we took photos in different places. Therefore, we could use them in various movies later. Secondly, we chose the movie and the role. We even asked two foreign teachers to help us. They acted as the president and a VOA news reporter. Thirdly, we recorded our voices. Next, one of our members put the photos and videos in order. Then, he made the video step by step.

  When we showed our video to our classmates, they were so amazed and excited. Finally, we decided to upload our video on YouKu. We hope that more people have the access to watch the video and gain happiness from it. As a matter of fact, it was really popular at that time.

  Unlike other social media tools, videos and photos are more attractive and funny. Since videos and photos are visible. We can see them clearly and hear their voices. We can indulge in them and image ourselves in the situation. It can affect our emotions and moves our hearts. With the development of the society, it becomes more and more popular. Many people prefer to watch videos and look at photos online. I want to give you some tips on how to make a good online video:

  Use real persons;

  Fun content;

  Stories and personal drama experienced by our friends;

  Get to point quickly;

  Keep continuity of themes;

  Don’t only focus on creating a viral video;

Videos can also help companies to make money. Just bear in mind these things:

Make Our Own Podcast - Square Dance

This week we learned about publishing podcasts and webinars. A podcast is a digital audio or video file that is episodic, downloadable, and program-driven, mainly with a host and / or theme; and convenient, usually through an automated feed with computer software. We can take advantage of podcasts in these ways: listening to them directly on the websites; downloading them to a computer and listening to them; downloading them to a MP3 player and listening later.

                                                We express a great interest in podcasts and decide to make our own podcast. Firstly, our group chooses the topic-fashion. Then we find a specific theme. We want to discuss square dance. It is a new fashion now. We can see it almost everywhere. It is good to our health. It is an entertainment. Therefore, it can help people relax themselves and bring happiness for them. We choose the way question to answer to make our podcast. This process also has several steps. We will act as different roles, the host, the son, the student, the citizen, the critic and the dancer. We will interview these questions:

The definition of square dance;

Why she joins square dance?

The prospect of square dance;

Why the son watch square dance?

What’s his opinion of his mother’s participate in square dance?

How does the student feel about square dance?

Would the student like to join it?

The problems square dance brings about;

How to deal with the problems;

The advantages and disadvantages of square dance;

    Besides, we will record our voices and find an interesting video about square dance. We expect we can finish the podcast quickly and successfully. We cannot wait for it. We believe it must be very funny.

Ways to help you run your business better

This week we learned chapter 4, which was titled “Rules of Engagement for Social Media”. I feel that it is really helpful. It can give company some advice on how to run their business better and guidance on how to avoid costly mistakes by behaving properly on the social web.

  Social media involves earning permission to take part in personal communication with people who don’t usually want to become target audience. There are nine rules in total. First, use social channels as intended. It means that we can choose different tools to show your products and attract more consumers. Second, don’t be a dirty spammer, which means you should ask for people’s permission before sending them products’ information. Because sometimes they don’t really want to buy the products. Maybe it will interrupt them. Third, assume people who don’t care about the product. Fourth, have a personality. Fifth, provide context when seeking connections. Sixth, be transparent. Seventh, talk about the topic. Eighth, social media profiles are not billboards. Ninth, be nice.

    I will talk about the last one in detail. My roommate acts as a purchasing Korean make-up agent. She often shows her new product on wechat. However, she doesn’t push us to buy her products. When we want to buy some make-up, we ask her about the product. She is very friendly and patient. She tells us how to use the products and their functions. What’s more, she sells the products at a low price. She tells us that we can have a try on her make-up. If it works, we can buy it. Otherwise, it is no meaning in buying it and we should choose a new one. When she gives us the products, she will also give us some sample sacks. She is really nice to her customers. In turn, we recommend her products to our friends. We can reach a conclusion that being nice to people is vital in the social media marketing.

  A marketer must have a firm grasp of these rules and govern interactions on the social web. Bear in mind of these rules and put them into practice. I believe that you will get benefit from them sooner or later.

            It is wise for them to make the design- producing underwear only for females. They know their target audience so that they produce underwear for them.               Thanks to powerful social media, I leaned some information about the shop. It can spread the information at a fast speed. A target audience is a group of consumers a company has decided to organize its marketing strategies to reach their message. The organization should locate its target market on the social web and gain an understanding of how the target audience participates in the social web. Identifying what the target audience wants to talk about is crucial in order to devise content that its members will respond to.

Therefore, we can learn about the products well. What’s more, we can search things in the blank space and it will help us to find what we want rapidly. I also like going shopping on Taobao website with my friends. I often like to buy shoes, clothes and bags on Taobao website. As far as I am concerned, it is really useful. Nowadays many people like listening to music. It can help people relax themselves. It can also keep us in a good emotion. When we are listening to music, we forget almost everything. We are just appreciating the lyrics and the tune. As far as I am concerned, I would like listening to music on the phone. I think it is convenient for me to bring and it can reduce the radiation. However, I need to download songs on the phone in advance. To my sadness, I can not download songs for free any longer.
