Guide: Astrology and love

Any signs can be compatible. Astrology does not have the final say in the succes of a relationship. Only you and your partner can decide if you want it to succeed or not. Astrological compatibility is just an indicator of how easy or hard it will be.

Traditionally Fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) are compatible with air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) and other fire signs. Air signs are compatible with fire signs and other air signs. Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) are compatible with earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) and other water signs. And earth signs are compatible with water signs and earth signs. There’s also the matter of opposite signs. They are naturally drawn to each other and there is usually a lot of attraction between them. These are: Aries & Libra Taurus & Scorpio Gemini & Sagittarius Cancer & Capricorn Leo & Aquarius Virgo & Pisces Though their elements are compatible, the opposite signs are each other’s counterparts and it’s really all or nothing when they come together. It can either be the best there ever was and ever will be, or a total fiasco. Pretty much the same thing, albeit less powerful, goes for Same-Sign couplings. To know if you’re compatible, you should look at your love interest’s chart and compare it to yours: Your Sun tells you about very basic compatibility, but is not by any means a definitive yes or no. If anything, compatible sun signs are a nice bonus. It’s your essential personality, the one you probably identify most as. 

Your Venus is by far the most important placement in relationships. It’s never more than two signs away from your sun sign. It tells you about what you’re looking for in a partner. It’s also an indicator of how you attract love and act in a relationship. People may find they act rather differently when they’re in a relationship. Knowing your and their’s venus may help you understand why you do the things you do for love. Your venus should be compatible with your partner’s mars and vice versa. The Moon represents what men find most important in a woman, though not necesarily in a romantic way. Look at your venus for this. It’s the sign that tells all genders  their deepest thoughts, fears and emotions. Having the same moon sign often results in great relationships with deep connections and emotional fulfillment, though it might also be very interesting if your moon sign is or is compatible with your partner’s sun sign. Your Mars represents what women find most important in a men, though not necesarily in a romantic way.  Look at your venus for this. Mars takes charge of sexual attraction. It’s the planet of passion, but also of how you express anger.  Your mars should be compatible with your partner’s venus and vice versa. 

Mercury is connected to communication, reasoning, intellect and awareness. It’s not all that important in romantic compatibility, but people with compatible or the same mercury signs will have an easier time communicating with and understanding one another.  Finally, you might want to take a look at your Juno. You need your birth time to calculate it. Juno was the Roman godess of marriage. This placing is not near  as important as venus, but it will tell you what you need in a relationship to grow as a person rather than what you may want.

Astrological Concept: Friends & Foes Part 1/3

A trend in many astrological conversations is relationships. The idea that you can find the “right person” over the stars is endearing, but not realistic. Natal charts in tropical astrology paints a more complex picture of how we navigate relationships (as it should). And while romantic interests play a major role in many lives, other types of relationships in astrology sometimes go overlook with nobody to fault. So I would like to share a conversation of friendships, direct foes, and secret enemies.  In this post, we’ll discuss how the 11th house allows insight into our social sphere, specifically how we go about our friendships. 

Aries in the 11th House: Friendships come and go as you pleased with the cause mostly being boredom or level of usefulness towards decreased. Sometimes a bit selfish with the acquaintances in your life, but people gravitate towards you anyways making it easy to make friends. Strong friendships are hard to come by for you, but you love to live in the social scene. Overall: Friendships are many but fleeting. 

Taurus in the 11th House: You have a high standard for friends because you accept them far and few between. You want to nurture and care for those you choose to have relations with so in a practical standpoint, you are not gonna waste energy into friends who don’t fit your bill. If somebody can satisfy your wants and needs then you will return the favor. Overall: Friendships are few and selective. 

Gemini in the 11th House: Overall you have a need to socialize with others and will seek out those who can mentally stimulate you.  Due to your conversing habits, those may think they are closer to you than you see them. Bonds are strengthened through intellectualism and dull people will leave you to seek other company instead. It is when you share your honest and unfiltered thoughts when you know a friendship is true. Overall: Friendships are casual and entertaining. 

Cancer in the 11th House: Your friendships often become family to you. It is important for you to bond domestically with your friends. When you become close to somebody you end up becoming somebody’s emotional support and cheerleader. As nice as this sounds, a cautionary tale needs to be heard by acknowledging boundaries and valuing yourself in the friendship. You tend to favor hanging with a group of small friends who are all close to one another. Overall: Friendships are kindred and close.

Leo in the 11th House: Friendships may fuel competitiveness in favor of being in the spotlight. You may have many acquaintances, but have trouble accepting friendships when you aren’t seen as the clear leader. Friends can be seen as access to a high social status. You know how to be yourself, but sometimes lack the initiative to form a connection with others based on who they are. Overall: Friendships are self-involved and challenging. 

Virgo in the 11th House: You find it a struggle to make friends and it often points to you being too critical of others and yourself. You tend to have few friends, but they are close and can be a source of your creativity. Your energy in your friendships orientates into helping them out, but be careful not to micromanage anyone. Planning things for and with your friends is important for you. Overall: Friendships are idealized and few. 

Libra in the 11th House: Friendships need to be balanced in order to be seen as great for you and if it isn’t you gravitate towards a mediator role to fix it. Friends are very important to you, but you need to understand nobody is perfect. If somebody lacks what you need it may hurt you but you will cut them from your life and move quickly to a new. Communicating with friends is a natural talent that others admire you for. Overall: Friendships are many and serious. 

Scorpio in the 11th House: You strive to make best friends and put in the effort for it. They need to be full of depth and serious in order for a person to be worth your time. You can become very picky and because of this, you have a small social group. Loyalty is a privilege, not a right you grant to others easily. When somebody passes your guard you are emotionally vulnerable towards them. Overall: Friendships are built up and critical. 

Sagittarius in the 11th House: You make friends with all types of people regardless of social and cultural background; however you have a tendency to gravitate towards those with influence. Because of your open-mindedness, you are seen in a favorable light. Friendships are an opportunity to learn from others, therefore, you love thoughtful debates with them. You enjoy good company, but don’t want to be restricted. Overall: Friendships are intellectual and many. 

Capricorn in the 11th House: Friendships are few for you and you do not like being part of the social scene. However, the few people you choose to be close to often become an obligation for you for and you want to please them well. Because of this, you create lasting friendships but it is important for you to try to break out of your comfort zone if you seeking change in this area. Overall: Friendships are strong and difficult. 

Aquarius in the 11th House: Friendships are important to you no matter how close an individual may be to you. You have a need to be in a social setting which is typically not a problem for you because you have many people in your life to provide that. The big deciding factor in friends is if they are different and interesting because if they are boring and rigid then you will look the other way. Overall: Friendships are fun and necessary.

Pisces in the 11th House: You are a pleaser with your friends and you hope to gain what you give. However, sometimes you do not realize when a friendship isn’t true or mutual and it will take time and help from another to understand that. You want to see the best in all, but sometimes become harden from past experience of deception. You will be at a constant battle with your perception and reality, therefore, many friends will come into your life only to go. Overall: Friendships are unclear and desired.

Cold or Warm, Thorny or Soft

So my sister and I have some made up personality types we measure people through. You can be either warm or cold, and thorny or soft, so for example, someone can be cold and thorny, cold and soft, warm and thorny or warm and soft ; those are the 4 types we classify people in.

Now that that’s explained, I decided it would be fun to put each sign in one category.

For this post you should check your Sun, Moon and rising sign. Your Sun would be closer to how you truly are and percieve yourself to be, your Moon would point towards how you are when people know you better and how you behave towards those you care about, while your rising is more about how people percieve you and how you consciously make yourself appear as.

Really you could check any planet and it would talk about how you express those energies.

So first things first, I’ll explain each variable:

Cold: these people don’t get attached easily, they can be quite distant and reserved, not liking to be too close to people, especially those they don’t know well. They avoid showing their emotions to others and have a hard time expressing them, so they can be percieved as indifferent or inexpressive, they may be feeling enormously but from the outside seem emotionless to those who don’t know them well. Not necessarily rude, but distantly polite. Not very big on affection.

Warm: very expressive, even bubbly, they probably want people to feel comfortable and at home given their caring nature. Can get attached easily and have an outwardly loving nature. Their emotions can be seen all over their demeanor and they may share how they feel quite often. If they are shy, they may not be as overbearing as they appear in this description, but still have no qualms about expressing themselves when prompted by others. Very giving and affectionate nature.

Thorny: hard to get to know, they dislike interacting with people and can even be a bit hostile when you first meet them (and let’s be honest, afterwards as well). They show they care in a perhaps unconventional way, since they are not very good at sharing how they feel, so maybe they are more about actions than words. Trust issues wouldn’t strange with this type, so you have to earn it. They may feel easily stiffled when given affection, so handle with care and measure. Will physically fight anyone for their loved ones or protecting the underdog. Annoyed most of the time.

Soft: the sweet cinnamon roll archetype, they can trust others a bit too much, they open their hearts to those they care about and can even be a bot clingy at times. Will probably never hurt you on purpose and can often let people walk over them a bit because of their humble and understanding nature. While they do love affection, they may not actively seek it, since these people are prone to be pretty shy and quiet. Can worry a lot. Probably very moved by art and really creative souls.

Now, the signs:

Warm and Thorny: Aries, Gemini, Leo 

Very caring but can appear a bit hostile at first and be that way without realizing it at times. Easily become defensive when they feel threatened or hurt, doing and saying things they probably could’ve said much more gently or done differently. Will fight for what they believe is right and can be a bit aggressive and blunt at times. Care about everyone but not enough about anyone. Would help anyone in need but also could betray anyone if they can have something they want.

Cold and Soft: Taurus, Virgo, Libra 

People often feel drawn to these signs, mostly for their charm and class (taurus, libra), or their intelligence and simplicity (virgo). However, if you watch closely, you can see they never become too involved and always keep their distance emotionally speaking. They are people pleasers, and to please everyone you can’t care about anyone too much. They can try to make others feel comfortable, but mostly because they tend to absorb others emotions, so someone being uncomfortable around them can make them feel uncomfortable as well. Nevertheless, when they do care about someone they are affectionate, caring and, well, soft. They don’t care about someone easily, but when they do, their loved ones become their world. 

Cold and Thorny: Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius

Struggle getting close to people, for they value their freedom and alone time a lot. They show they care in their own way, which may not always be noticed by their loved ones. Can be a bit rough around the edges and hide their feelings and emotions in fear of being hurt or taken advantage of. Very hard to get to know, but very loyal once they care about you. Can be passive to injustice or insensitive to pain because they often mind their own bussiness a bit too much.

Prone to feeling lonely and misunderstood.

Warm and Soft: Cancer, Sagittarius, Pisces

Very caring, very gentle, very shy (except sagittarius, probably.) Can often live in their emotions, their hearts are too big for their own good. Easily hurt and unfortunately struggle hiding it. Struggle to let go of people, even after they’ve hurt them. Rich inner world and very moved by human emotion. Probably quite idealistic. Giving, generous and affectionate, understanding to an almost annoying degree and the best when it comes to comforting others.

Sagittarius is perhaps the one that lets go and becomes detached more easily.

Mercury to Pluto Synastry

Conjunction: They see themselves in each other, Pluto possibly more clearly through Mercury’s communication. It is likely the Pluto person will show how they relate to Mercury on their own time and decision. There is a connection between communication and sharing + the renewing, compulsive, and transformation energies of Pluto. Maybe this relationship is all about sharing past trauma, past and current fears, and secrets.

Trine: This relationship can get deep and profound. They learn a lot of heavy, intense, and passionate things from one another. Sharing and intimacy are at the forefront. Square: One person may pressure or coerce the other into things they don’t want to do or more likely pressure them into statements they don’t really mean. Standing your ground can be a lesson along with tolerating other’s opinions and allowing people to make their own decisions.

Inconjunction/Quincunx: Something mentally but subtle, even subconscious is holding their bond back. Inner friction, stubbornness, will, and control issues keep them from getting too close. Fights can sometimes be unspoken or are done almost in secret. Openness is REALLY needed here.

Semi-Sextile: They may come together due to a shared passion in a subject. Could also become low-key obsessed with each other’s mind. Shared interests are important to their bond.

Mercury to Neptune Synastry

Conjunction: Communication, imagination, and intuition are shared. But confusion and misinterpreting things can happen. Mercury is communicating through sign A while Neptune is dismantling or dissolving into sign A. The different expressions of the same sign can cause a disconnect.

Trine: Communication goes to a deeper level. They read each other’s minds, communicate with looks, finish each other’s sentences. They can have an appreciation for the arts together or at least each other’s imagination and humor. They communicate in the realm of ideas but also imagination. Taking on each other’s thinking patterns can happen and they should be careful of not getting lost in that.  

Sextile: There is both mental and emotional understanding. Together they may explore abstract ideas or spiritual concepts. Persuasion, charm, and romantic words are important to the creation of their bond. They flatter and intrigue each other with ideas and words. Inconjunction/quincunx: Can be an area of distrust in a relationship. Perception of each other can also be unrealistic, completely wrong, or distorted. One can also feel verbally or mentally pressured by the other. The adaptability and sensitivity of these two cause friction. Conjunction: Don’t sleep on Mercury to Mars aspects. Conjunct can be helpful in solving problems and communicating desires. Mercury easily understands Mars and Mars finds acceptance from Mercury. Might respect each other’s ideas and decisions. Impatience and restlessness could be a flaw in the union. 

Trine: A lot of mental stimulation mixed with passion and high energy. Debates and teasing could actually bring them together or entertain them. Banter and investigating brings something to the relationship. Be careful of stepping on each other’s toes. Mars can be testy or impatient with Mercury. Mercury can easily detach themselves from Mars or need space from them.

Sextile: Passion is put into words in this relationship. They keep up with each other’s energy mentally and physically. Mercury can inspire or fuel Mars. Mars brings action of some type. Mental drain can happen in this union.
