I CHOOSE THE PHILIPPINES

   At a young age, I was able to travel to other country. Since then, travelling around the world became one of my must achieve goals. Travelling make me enthusiast. I want to learn the culture of others; I want to see the beauty of their town. My mom is an OCW (overseas contract worker), she works in Singapore. I asked her if she would love to live in Singapore once I am able to provide for them, she simply said "There is no place like home, my dear." Before I go too far from my country, I would love to first travel every spot of it. 

   Philippines have a lot of breath-taking sceneries. In 2012, the Underground River at Puerto Princesa Palawan Philippines was voted in 2012 by the global community as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Palaui Island, Panglao Island, and Boracay are famous islands and are visited by many foreign from other counties. Banaue Rice Terraces, Chocolate Hills in Bohol, and Sagada are must visit places in the Philippines if you wanted to have a higher look of the beautiful creation of God. There are a lot of different traditions in every province of the Philippines, and I hope to experience them all.

  I choose the Philippines. Not only because of its’ natural breath-taking sceneries, but also because it is truly the most hospitable country. It is very welcoming country. Philippines is the only country who welcomed Jewish during the Holocaust. Philippines is also known as a city of smiles. In 2015, Philippines ranked 5th in the happiest countries in the world. There are more reasons to love the Philippines. I am proud Filipino and I will always choose the Philippines.

“The man in your dreams is not the man in your heart.” 

  When I was younger, I have set my standards to look for in a man. I focused on the physical aspects. I want someone who is taller than my height, has broad biceps, chinito, fair skin, dark hair, and dark eyes. My friends would teased me, "Friend, model ba hanap mo?" (trans: "Friend, are you looking for a model?") I constantly remind my self before that if someone court me, I will not entertain him if he did not pass my standards. When I was at the age where all my friends have boyfriends and I am left single, I thought to lower my standards and focus more on the intellectual aspects. If a guy sends me a love letter, I forgot to appreciate the letter because what I do is I proofread the letter and become a grammar nazi.

  At the age of 16, there is this guy who courted me. He was persistently talking to me, even if my reply was just an emoji and he still have something to say. He then asked me to go out for a date, and surprisingly I said yes. Which I never did to any man who likes me. Our date was my first date, I did not know what to say but he handle me very well. He is very talkative! I can say that he is an easy-going person. Time passed, and he became the man in my heart. Attributes that I love about him is that he is caring, has goals in life, loves not only me but my family as well, he easily expressed his thoughts, and he is very close to our creator. He brought out the best in me. One time, I always asked myself, "Saan na napunta standards mo?" (trans: "Where did your standards go?") He may not the be man of my dreams, but he is the man in my heart. Now, he became my standards which I found funny. He then became the man in my dreams and in my heart.

  If you are just like me who set standards to look for in a man, I would say that it is okay to have standards. Of course, you must look for someone who will pass you preferences. But one day, someone will come and you, yourself will be surprise that one day you are no longer looking for those standards. Rather, you will go for the man who serves as an happy pill to you. That man may not be the man of your dreams, but trust me with this one. He will gradually become one. You will probably look for someone who have the same traits with him. But I hope, you will not be doing that because you will treasuring him as if he is the one already. Remember, the man in your heart will be the man in your dreams. So, before setting up standards, my advice is you list down standards that your comes within your heart.
