SUPERNATURAL BEINGS VERSE. 

Name: Gracia Maria Cardoso. Species: Elemental (water).

Like water, the front Grace puts on is adaptable and ever-changing, a mask she wields to her advantage whenever she can. Offered up to the Gods by her mother like the rest of her siblings, Gracia’s death by her given element is what gave her power and immortal life, and for hundreds  of years she has been trying to get to grips with what could either be considered a blessing or a curse.

Usually, she spends her time offshore, controlling the oceans and those supernatural beings that reside within it. Queen of Sirens, she helps guide the lost souls of those who died at sea, and providing punishment on behalf of the Gods to those wrongdoers who step foot into her domain.

Many did not appreciate a dishonest presence in a Casino - even if the place was full of them - but in Sona's defence, she was only here because the place belonged to her brother and her drinks were on the house.

Fortune had been packed for the entire evening, and try as she might, Gracia couldn't keep herself from taking a break from all of the hustle and bustle of weekend chaos. She'd take the longer route back to her hotel room, have a snack and a change of clothes; then she could come back again a different person, ready to mingle with a different crowd of people.

The cold air was refreshing against her warm-flushed cheeks, and she was quite absent-mindedly strolling along when her vision fell upon an unexpected familiar face.

"Arden..."  She'd spoken aloud without thinking, drawing attention to herself when she had hoped not to, but it was too late now. Though her voice had trailed off, she spoke once more to avoid the onset of awkwardness.  "...I can't say I thought I'd see you in Vegas.

Gracia's treasured object is The Mask, an item that gives her a sense of power and security in the many acts she plays throughout her life. It's an item that has been instrumental in her false identity for as long as she can remember, and as long as she has it on her person - worn or not - it aids in the act she maintains.

Unfortunately, something so good at helping its user hide their true intentions -  even their entire identity - was always going to attract attention from the wrong crowd. Among those who knew of its powers, and wished to steal it from her, only one was successful in momentarily taking the mask from Sona: Latio.

James, being Greed deified, wanted to use its powers alongside his own to make his questionable lifestyle and continuous personal gain even easier to maintain. Despite the disappearance of Sona's mask caused quite a stir in the divine community, it was the abilities it granted him that made it so easy to get away with having it for several years. It was only when Sona herself encountered him that she was able to sense the power it possessed, enabling her to figure out just who had taken it.

It was her older brother who was tasked with having it returned to her, and it didn't take too many threats of dwindling fortune to convince Latio to hand it over.

A minor deity among her greater siblings, Sona finds it easy to blend in among Earth’s mortals and slip behind a guise: the literal and metaphorical kind.

Her treasured possession is no weapon, merely a mask that aids her ability to conceal her truth...that, and the truths of others. It's a possession she can't do without, because behind the intricate false persona she has built for herself - her lie - she's not sure who she is anymore.

GRACIA / (PER)SONA / goddess of deceit.

TREASURED OBJECT  /  the mask. MORTAL OCCUPATION  /  emerging online socialite, projecting a glamourised image of a far-from-it reality. LOCATION  /  can often be found at Ead's casino and other such hotspots, or at her elder sister's home in gloucester when she's not hotel-hopping.

Last but not least, Gracia probably knows all of my other muses, but is closest with Josh and Erik. Erik's the only bartender that will let her drink, and Josh buys her alcohol and cigarettes for get-togethers at her home.

She knows Aidan but doesn't know him enough to love or hate him. James, however, she does not like /at all/.

Oh, and she finds Sting incredibly irritating.

Luca is by far the most competitive of his siblings, and prefers more immediate success than the gentle rise to excellence that the two middle siblings favour. He’s the one who has lived through the worst of the Cardoso family’s hardest times, and is therefore the one with the most motivation to be in a better position; elevated from those dark times that used to consume him, and hardened his perspective of the world.

It’s only marginal, however, as Gracia is also keenly competitive in her own way, and for her own reasons. She is very young by comparison to them, and yet feels as though she should be achieving the same things as them and experiencing the same levels of success…even though, in most instances, it wouldn’t be possible for her to be near their levels of expertise in their different professions.

Dainty hands hovered over the extensive collection of palettes and compacts arranged nearly across her vanity, her attentive gaze scrutinizing every pigment and how they might complement her golden attire, without clashing with her bright strands of auburn.

It was with some degree of delight that she entertained her friend’s suggestion, happy to have gained any input whatsoever from the often silent girl, and glad of some form of guidance…even if she had not been entirely convinced.

      “ Hmmm…perhaps I should do your make up first, and see if an idea comes to fruition whilst I work? ”  Ever the artist, no decision was ever meaningless, even if it was something as menial as the coloured powder on her eyelids.  “ Which begs the question…what would you like today, Grace? ”

Gracia had merely intended to hurry along the process of getting ready, and help her friend out with what had turned out to be quite the predicament. Now she too was lost in the mess of eye makeup-related decisions.

The younger of the two girls blinked and left silence hanging in the air for a short while, and green eyes shielded by deep chocolate-brown contacts took to examining both of their outfits. Hisui's dress, a yellow gold, shimmered in the dimming light as it clung to the sweeping curves of her hips; her own was quite the contrast, a dark green sweatshirt dress that clung to no contour of her body, a fit she preferred - for herself, at least.

"I'll have...gold and light green." She mused for a moment, before nodding her approval, before looking closely at her friend for a few seconds longer. "You should have gold...and dark green, I think."

Soothing people came into her life on occasions so rare that Hisui's presence was always somewhat of a surprise to the youngest Cardoso. Green eyes studied her companion with a great deal of curiosity - a great deal for Grace, anyway - as she set about preparing herself for the night ahead.

It seemed she was deciding what to do with the rest of her makeup - more specifically, what she would do with her eyes. Gracia may be no expert on the matter of cosmetics, but after watching her friend's perplexion over the passing seconds, she sought to make a suggestion.

"I think green eye-shadow would look nice...or maybe some gold."
