Your Boyfriend and romanticizing abuse
alright so, I've seen some ppl online have the take that on the outside, is completely valid!
If you go in blind playing this game, it will shock you, scare you, and make you wonder why you played. But as someone who has had a stalker, I'd like to share my take on why you CAN enjoy this dark content without it justifying abuse as romantic gesture. Because it's not.
I was stalked, for 2 years. I won't go into detail, as it is traumatic, and makes me paranoid. But to make a long story short, it was scary. I was paranoid, and scared all the time. I didn't wanna leave my house, didn't wanna drive, all because he would follow me, Leave me notes on my front door, make fake accounts, ect.
And I never knew when it would stop. I still don't know if I'll see him again, but I've not heard anything about him for about a year now so I'm very pleased. At no point during his actions did I find any of it romantic, or endearing.
Now. Let me preface that this game is for adults. Not kids, not teens, not young folks who "have seen worse". It's for adults over 18. Why is that?
When I wanna play something, I obviously consent to playing it. I never consented to my stalkers actions.
When/if it makes me uncomfortable, I can close it. MY choices decide what happens, and as an adult, it IS your job to monitor your intake of dark media, such as the Your Boyfriend game. Because that's all it is. My final point.
If it were real? Peter would be a terrible person lol. But he's not, and that means we are the only person who makes choices regarding their intake of this type of stuff.
You MUST seperate fiction from reality here, and seeing people online say you can't enjoy dark media simply because it displays dark media is.... Kiiiind of missing the point.
It's okay to like fucked up shit. It's alright to enjoy it!! That's why people make/consume horror movies. This is a horror/romance game. If you buy a cat and expect it to act like a dog, you're going to be disappointed.
Pleeeeeease please pLEASE just monitor yourself and your experience on the internet instead of ripping into anything that you don't personally like. And if it doesn't hurt you, let others have fun :)
