City Limits
Concrete jungles
Spread so quickly
Erasing shades of green
These jungles are limitless
I only hope I can protect
the 100 year old oak tree
around the corner from my
childhood home
Deep down I know
it too will vanish
to make room for the stone gods
Every tree that has not kneeled before them
may be forced to
falling to their knees
These two worlds are not so separated
I can see the tree-lines
vanish
As grey overcomes me
I can recognize the beauty
of city lights
Yet
The evergreens are drowned out
by their brightness
As I look to the sky
I realize then
Even with all of their
power
The stars cannot be
captured
