The concepts to reach this conclusion were definitely taught in school if you ever took algebra or the equivalent, however it likely wasn’t presented in that way. Here’s the proof I wrote if you would like:
This is an example of the associative property of multiplication, that says that how you group things when multiplying doesn’t matter. (a x b) x c = a x (b x c)
Taking 8% of 25 is the same as multiplying 25 by .08, and we know that .08 = 8 x .01
Thus it can be rewritten as 25 x .01 x 8
By the associative property:
(25 x .01) x 8 = 25 x (.01 x 8)
.25 x 8 = 25 x .08
In other words, 25% of 8 is equal to 8% of 25.
