So ponying up ten grand is easier for you than a simple thank you?
benjihollis:
Benji agreed to meet his fire captain for some late night food, but with a family emergency, his superior had to cut things short. Still in the booth, he decided it’d be a waste not to finish up at the restaurant instead of boxing it all up and taking it home. Turning his head, he could tell the woman beside him was fighting sleep. A feeling he knew all too well. Lifting his left wrist to see his watch, he narrowed his eyes to focus. “Uh… about one forty five AM. You okay?”
Rubbing her eyes, she was a little surprised that someone answered her question. She had been nursing a cup of coffee but it had long gone cold. “Oh.. I thought it was later than that.” She sighed, stretching out her legs under the table. “Yeah.. I just finished a fourteen hour shift.. I haven’t had a shift over twelve in a few years. Its taking its toll.”
freyaradcova:
The random question snapped Freya’s attention away from the cute bartender. In all honesty, after what she’d just been through her attention hadn’t been too great anyway—she was going through the ‘i hate the male species for the day’ phase. She turned her gaze towards the other woman, eyeing her as she leaned with her elbows against the counter. “That depends. Does it come with a ‘pretty but psycho’ kind of pack?” she boldly asked. It wasn’t that the woman gave off any creepy vibes; she just wasn’t used to offers coming up like that from people who didn’t know her.
A small laugh escaped Mabel’s lips at the other’s comment. “Fair enough..” Mabel took a slow sip of her drink as leaned against the bar in front of her. “It comes with ‘I don’t want some jerk messing with you..’ If it helps I work at the local hospital so it makes me a little more trustworthy.”
It was getting a little too hard to keep her eyes open. It had been so long since she had been on a shift that lasted over twelve hours. Mabel didn’t think it had that much affect on her, but yet here she was. Her eyes were falling closed as her head nodded forward. Her head nearly hit the table in front her before she forced herself upright. “What time is it?” She spoke suddenly, shaking her head trying to keep herself awake.
freyaradcova:
This was unbelievable. It never ceased to amaze her how crazy some people could be. “Bring me three vodka shots, and a one-ticket to oblivion,” she ordered cheerfully as she threw her body on the only free stool in the busy bar, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
Mabel never really liked to drink in public. If she ever got drunk she was a little... clingy. It wasn’t a few good aspect to throw onto other drunken strangers. But the girl next to her seemed to have the definition of a bad day. “Are you going to need a way to get home? -- I can take on the role of designated driver.”
of-ryker:
(“Don’t let the authorities here you say that.”) Kael commented with a chuckle. (“Lovers tiff, or downright trouble in paradise?”)
Mabel scoffed slightly, with a shake of her head. “I’ve been married for six years, I doubt the authorities even pay attention to us anymore.” Mabel push her fingers through her hair gently as she glanced down at her feet. “It really is a long story. That you do not want to sit and hear about.”
billiejackson:
Billie was cleaning one of the tables when she heard someone come into the cafe. She smiled at them. “Hello, welcome. Please take a seat and I will be with you shortly to take your order.”
It was late and Mabel knew that. She should be getting home to her husband but something in her just wanted a nice hot drink. She could bring him something back as a peace offering. “Oh, thank you.” She gave the woman a soft smile as she settled on seat.
of-ryker:
He raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. (“Right. Bad Rover. Bad Bingo. – So why not just get your husband to fix it?”)
So maybe Mabel wasn’t very good at lying. She was a nurse-- it was kinda in her job description not to lie. And well at the next question he asked was the last question she wanted to answer. “I just -- can’t. I am kinda avoiding him...”
of-ryker:
(“Fine. I charge by the hour… How did you even manage to do this?”)
A sigh of relief escaped her lips when the other had agreed to her pleads. “Any price-- thank you so much.” She pushed a hand through her hair once she had delicately handed over the object to him. “It wasn’t me, it was the dogs. They were playing rough and just shattered it.”
of-ryker:
(“Look, I’m a builder… not a handy man. Sure I could fix it but - it’s gonna cost you.”)
Mabel’s fingers twitched as she tried to think up an excuse. She could have easily asked her husband to help her out, but frankly Mabel wasn’t in the mood to face him. “I can pay for it. -- I just need it fixed as soon as possible.”
