SHORT DRAMA EVALUATION
In this project, me and my group (Billy, Jack, Rebecca, and Charlie) had to plan, shoot and edit a short drama. Our drama is called I,Divided, and it is about a detective investigating murder cases that he has been committing himself - and he doesn’t know of this as he has a split personality. Our script was not made for 3 minutes but for around 20 minutes, so for the deadline we was given we had only filmed scene 1 of 9.
I think our drama is the type of film you would see on the television. We had a lot of issues when it came to filming and editing the film but we were able to fix most of these problems. We had filmed and edited a prologue for our film but due to the amount of issues it was best to keep it out of the edit that was being marked.
We all had our own sections to research when it came to planning, this was so we could get to film and find mistakes early when it came to filming.
Our scene was filmed and edited to make it as cinematic as possible and we did a very good job at pulling that off. Me and the director decided to film this scene on a steadicam as we wasn’t able to use the track due to distance and space. This effect made it a little bit more interesting in my opinion, it may be used in most of the scenes that are yet to be filmed.
Billy was our editor, and he was able to add a more cinematic feel to our scene by adding a letter box effect and colour grading. We had big issues with the audio in our scene but Billy was able to fix it very well. The last issue he had in editing was to fix up the continuity, he did that by adding in covershots of the dead body actor.
Overall, i think the project went really well and i can’t wait to film the rest. If i was to do that scene again i would bring a deadcat for the microphone.
