greeting his friend with a devilish smirk, leo chimed back while lifting up the black shirt peeking out from the dark jacket to relevel his chest.” this nipple is all for you mmaaaaaaaace.” he teased before dropping his grip over his shirt.” if i don’t see some panties or bras or i don’t know.. jockstraps flying your way tonight i’m really going to suggest a career change.”
“but what you don’t understand, leo, is that if i’m successful, i won’t be knocking on your door every tuesday when we’re in our forties, begging you to give me a free consultation” he said, nudging his friends shoulder playfully before leaning against the bar, “and i mean, i’ve already created a mood board for that point in my life, so it’d be really disappointing if anything happens to change that.”
* ㅤ♡ ㅤit was obvious that cherry would see mace play that evening . how could she not ? as someone who loved rock music and live concerts , it was almost a duty to see the band play — and of course she also had to support her friend . with her long blonde locks tied up in a low ponytail and some strands of hair falling on her face , she made her way to the small venue . even though some of her friends said they would be there , her eyes scanned the place and couldn’t find any familiar face . time for a drink . the thought crossed her mind and she concluded she could use some alcohol at the moment , it would make the evening more enjoyable . asking the bartender for a martini , she turned her head for a brief moment upon hearing someone’s voice . “ did you really think i wasn’t going to show ? ” , she asked with a raised eyebrow , now leaning against the counter . “ are you nervous , babe ? i’m sure you’ll do well . ”
seeing cherry was one of the highlights of playing shows around the university, and the fact that she had managed to show up to almost all of his gigs since the two of them met — if not all of them was something he cherished, and each time he saw her face, either before the show, in the crowd or afterwards, he felt an odd sense of pride swell in his chest, that she’d chosen to come and see him play over the countless other things she could be doing instead. “of course not. you’re my lucky charm.” he pointed out, leaning slightly closer to her as he said it to emphasise his point before shooting her a wink. he picked up his glass when the bartender slipped it over, glancing towards the stage, which was still being set up. “and if i don’t, at least it’ll make for great entertainment, right?” he asked, raising the glass to his lips.
“as long as you play me something i can dance to while drunk enough, then we won’t have a problem”. daphne smiled, her half drunk glass of gin and tonic held high toward mace. being in an environment other than a lecture hall or her sorority house allowed the smaller girl to breathe, sighing away the pressures of course content and other life problems. she gently nudged his shoulder before her lips fell into a tipsy smile, “you’re lucky, you know. being able to do something you love SO much, adoring fans, free drinks at venues…” She tossed back the remainder of her alcoholic beverage, head shaking as she laughed, “mace, maybe I should join a band”.
“that’s not really a challenge, you know, you can just about dance to anything when you’re drunk. a dripping faucet, a bout of rush hour traffic” he pointed out, picking up his drink to take a sip. “can you imagine? raving to a symphony of car horns?” he asked, tilting his head to the side as he tried to picture it, before her words brought him back to the present moment. “adoring fans? is that what you’re calling yourselves now?” he teased, lightly pressing his arm to hers as he shoved her slightly, “and hey, you should join a band. i highly recommend it.” he paused, gasping slightly as he looked down at her with wide eyes, “you should join my band. do you know how to play the tambourine?”
mace plucked at his guitar strings, testing that the instrument was properly tuned. his week so far had been... surprisingly good. and now his schedule was completely filled up for the rest of the month with shifts, parties and gigs, which meant the remainder of it was going to be one huge party. he took a peek at the crowd, recognising some of the band’s devout fans as well as a handful of his friends. he was incredibly grateful for their support, and though the band wasn’t huge exactly, he was completely satisfied being booked in meadowbank, playing for his friends, despite the fact that the venues he played now were much smaller than those before. sighing, he set down his guitar to make his rounds greeting everyone. he was going on in a little less than an hour, so he figured it would be enough time to say hello and have a drink. “look who decided to make an appearance.” he greeted with a warm smile, indicating at the bartender to bring over his regular. “i hope you’re ready to watch me embarrass myself.”
( joe keery , 27 , cisman , he/him ) MASON CARROWAY , don’t think that you have gotten off easy because i haven’t told the school that REDACTED. sweetie , no one can hide from me - not even a MEMBER of ALPHA NU EPSILON. oh no, your secret is most certainly not safe with me. you know , i asked around about you & most people said that you reminded them of JAKE PERALTA with I’M A MESS BY ED SHEERAN playing in the background , that’s very interesting - i wonder how accurate they are.
hello everyone, i’d like to introduce my veteran baby mason! he’s honestly a goof who loves everyone and just wants people to have a good time, ok? love the smoosh, he deserves it, he’s been through some STUFF.
word vomit blurb:
mason grew up relatively happy. he was an only child, whom his parents adored and spoiled, and he never really had any issues, up until he was about eight years old. his mother became very sick, to the point where she would spend months at a time in critical care until she finally passed three years later. his father at this point, between trying to raise a son and take care of the love of his life — who ultimately died, turned rather toxic. he began being a lot shorter with mace, who was tackling his own issues with transforming into an adult (hellooooo puberty and hormones) and soon their relationship was poisoned. mason still loved his dad dearly, but he couldn’t stand to be around him, which is why he dropped out of school at sixteen and left home.
he spent a few years living on the streets, doing whatever he needed to get by, and eventually was offered a job washing dishes by a friend he’d made at a bus stop. there, he met a couple of guys who were in a band, and when he mentioned a passion for songwriting and playing the guitar, they asked him to join them for a jam sesh after his shift. the band liked what they heard and saw, which quickly turned mason from a random guy showing up to practises to a lead singer and guitarist of said band (the cosmic bandits).
this is where mason’s life picked up significantly. he was making enough money from random gigs to live a decent life, and he was beginning to enjoy his life again. his new found status as a lead singer also earned him a lot of female attention and it wasn’t long before he fell, hard and fast. he became infatuated with her and she was everything to him. his muse, his anchor. when mace loves, he doesn’t hold back, and she seemed to recuperate his feelings until one night after a gig. he’d noticed her leave through a back door during the show, and soon after, followed her out to let her know they were packing up. there, he found her in a rather compromising position with someone else — that didn’t particularly scream that she was cheating on him, but he’s a sensitive guy, so he basically completely cut her out of his life without letting her explain (ex-girlfriend connection anyone?).
this breakup ruined mason, okay? he spiralled, hard. drugs, alcohol and basically anything that would turn him into someone else for a just a moment. enter, his drug and alcohol addiction. it was fairly easy for him to fall into this lifestyle because of his ‘rockstar’ status, but one night he went too far and ended up in the ER. his father was called, and all it took was one look at his dad’s face for mason to know that he’d hit rock bottom.
after that day, when his father had left to go back to his new family, mason felt like he’d wasted his life. he became determined to go back to school, and even go to college — anything to replace the image of absolute disappointment from his father, to one of pride (though he’ll never admit that this was his motivation). going back to school was incredibly hard for mason, but he did it, and was even able to get accepted to meadowbank! he’s a few years older than his classmates, but you wouldn’t know it unless you sat down and got serious with him (a rare occasion) and he decided to study poetry, because he knows he’s decent at it through his songwriting, and wasn’t going to attempt to become a doctor (he would fail miserably, trust).
