Book Sculpture Opens into Magnificent Scottish Landmark
Artist Thomas Wightman carved a celebrated Scottish landmark into magical book sculpture to a story of the forgotten beauties of foreboding land. The spindly bridge surrounded by naked trees tells the tale of GlenfinnanViaduct bridge, well known for its reference in the immortal Harry Potter films befitting the Wightman’s choice for a book. The worn and browned parchment is indicative of the ancient nature of this Scottish monument, which furthers adds to the magic of the carved art.

The Life
I was taking photos further down the A82 in Glencoe when I saw this VW Camper drive past, I couldn’t get a photo but luckily it had stopped at the next parking spot. The owners were just setting up for the night overlooking the most scenic part of Glencoe…this is the life.

As well as being a doctor Bell was a lecturer at the medical school of the University of Edinburgh in the 19th century. He is perhaps best known as an inspiration for the literary character Sherlock Holmes, or at very least the deductive powers of the doctor who could tell by sailors tattoos what port they had visited or whether someone was a drinker or not, or by shaking of hands the profession of his patients, he was a bit of a legend around the university and Conan Doyle was a big fan.
