The rumors have always been that her ancestors founded the town, how could that not be true with their last name being what it is? It also might have something to do with the fact her father is the closest thing to law the town has ever seen. Family doesn’t have to just be blood and if you make it into the Lawson family then you’re protected for life. Mack has been overprotected her entire life, her father afraid of losing her to death or something else.
