Ezra had the later shift at the Canopy tonight, so he opted to treat himself a little and indulge in the craving for caffeine at an obscene hour of the day. The Buzz was always the best place for a strong cuppa, and even stronger coffee if he felt like it. Not to mention their pastries were definitely the best in town. “It’s alright love, take your time,” he called out in return, heading towards his usual spot. At her suggestion to sit anywhere, he just grinned and said, “Way ahead of you.”

Once he had taken a seat in his usual spot, Macy made her way over with a menu and her notepad to jot orders down on. "Thank you for your patience." She said, smiling softly at him. "Would you like to see a menu?"

Elijah was glad that the girl didn’t jump or scream when he tapped on her shoulder. He usually didn’t like to do anything even as small as that to strangers, but she wasn’t listening otherwise… so the fact that she reacted normally was a relief. “Oh, good… That was a lot easier than dropping it off somewhere.” He admitted with a bit of a laugh, holding it out for her. “I do that kind of thing all the time. I’ve lost so many dumb things.”

The relief was evident on Macy's face as she took the wallet back from him, placing it into her purse before deliberately zipping her purse shut to make sure she didn't lose her wallet again. "You and me both." She mumbled in agreement, nodding her head as she let out a laugh. "I've already almost lost that thing twice this week, I really need to pay more attention. But thank you again, you're honestly a life saver."

Emma hadn’t realized the girl had her headphones in, feeling only a tiny amount of guilt that she had interrupted her. The excitement was too great to feel bad for long, explaining herself again as the headphone came out. “The rock! It looks like Abe Lincoln!” Emma held up the rock towards her so the girl could get a better look. A small frown appeared as the other disagreed. “You don’t? This dark spot looks exactly like his beard.” She stated, pointing at it.

Macy squinted as she looked at the rock, tilting her head to the side to try to better understand what the other girl seemed to see in the rock. After a moment, she let out a surprised "ooooohhh," finally noticing the slight resemblance the rock held with the American President, and she nodded her head. "Now I see it." She replied, a faint smile on her face. "It's pretty cool, actually."

“Thank god. I knew I picked a good best friend with some sense of style!” She dreaded having to actually witness other people’s fashion horrors, and was thankful that her friend was stylish in the best ways. Nearly shoving the top back into Macy’s hands as her words hit her. “Netflix and sweatpants again?” She whined. “Macy, come on. When was the last time you actually went out and had fun? You don’t have to drink if you don’t want to, but at least come out and dance!” She let go of the top before tugging at her friend’s arm towards the dressing room. “You deserve to have a good night out!”

Macy couldn't help but laugh at her response, shrugging her shoulders playfully. "Obviously, I don't think this friendship would work out if we didn't both have some sense of style." She replied jokingly. As the shirt got shoved back into her hands, she let out another sigh, before pouting at her friend. "Netflix and sweatpants is always a win, you can't go wrong with it." She stated defensively. Mariana's question did get her thinking though, and she was right - it had been far too long since Macy had gone out and had some fun, though in her defense she really didn't feel like having fun lately. Between work, classes, and still not being over Embry, she had a lot on her plate. But she knew Mariana wouldn't give up on this, so Macy finally conceded. "Okay, okay!" She agreed, letting out a small laugh as she let her friend drag her to the dressing rooms. "Fine, one night out having fun. But not during the week, I can't afford to miss any of my classes."

Since he would work after he drank the coffee, he got ready before going to the coffee shop, he put his cop uniform, and headed there. He walked in and was surprised to see that the place wasn’t as full as he thought that it would  be, it was a good place, and it wasn’t rare for it to be so full that he could barely move. He didn’t mind though, and could understand why it was so full a lot of the time. “Yeah, today is not full, which is kind of surprising to me,” he admitted as he walked to a table and sat down.

“Believe me, I’m just as surprised as you are.” She replied lightheartedly, letting out a soft, polite laugh. Once he had sat down, Macy made her way over to his table, menu and order pad in hand. “Would you like to see a menu, or do you already know what you want?” There were several regulars who came into the cafe to get the same thing, and Macy recognized him as being one of the ones who stopped by more frequently. Not all the time, but often enough that she had learned to remember his face.

Garrett needed to find a quiet place to study which is what drew him to the cafe. His stress was getting the better of him, he usually held himself together well, but lately it was becoming harder. After he accidentally shifted at home yesterday, scaring his aunt–he knew he needed to get himself together and some quiet. He slipped into the cafe, offering a smile to the waitress who greeted him. “Take your time,” he told her as she neared, a soft grin breaking through. “If you got stuff to do, I can wait, but would you mind if I took one by the window?”

“There’s really not a lot going on here today.” She replied with a light shrug of her shoulders, a small smile on her face. “Of course not, go right on ahead. Would you like a menu to look at?” She asked, stepping out of his way so that he could make his way towards the window seats.

“Seeing as this place is filled with enough people to fit a viewing party, it would be weird if I was not allowed to sit wherever I’d like.” She said sarcastically while looking over at the menu. “Would you suggest something cold or hot today?”

Macy let out a soft laugh, rolling her eyes at her cousin’s words. “Willing to try something other than your usual, huh? Well look at you stepping outside of the box.” She replied teasingly, leaning against the seat across the table from where Ophelia had sat down. “Considering how warm it’s gotten outside, I’d say cold. The iced coffee is pretty good if you’re up for shaking things up a bit.”

Mariana couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the claim that her friend made, hoping that that wasn’t going to be the case, but after the words left Macy’s mouth, it seemed like that was probably going to happen. Though, Mariana merely shrugged. “So long as you aren’t that someone.” She replied with a bit of a grin. As she watched her friend’s face light up, Mariana’s smile only grew happily in turn with seeing how she had reacted. But, as the expression seemed to fall, Mariana’s brows aired a sign of confusion. “Shut up Macy.” She tried again, “I insist you try it on. I’ve been meaning to take you out anyways. This would be such a hit at any of the bars. Come on, don’t you want to look sexy?” She wagged her brows slightly with a knowing smirk.

She scoffed at her friend’s comment, rolling her eyes. “Come on, you know I’d never go for something like that old thing.” She replied, a hint of playfulness in her voice. As Mariana persisted about the crop top, Macy let out a soft sigh, glancing down at the top once more. “I mean, yeah, but couldn’t we just throw on some sweatpants and watch netflix instead? I’m not really feeling bars lately... But I guess I could try it on, since there’s no harm in that.”

“Not here to sit, Mace – you said your shift would be over around this time.” Stefan said, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he smiled down at the dark-haired girl. He had texted her earlier and they had decided to go catch up over drinks for they hadn’t seen each other for over a week which was a big no-no. “So, are we going to go get drunk or what?”

Macy knew that he wasn’t going to like her response, leaning against the wall beside the entrance as she mentally prepared herself for his attempts to change her answer. “Yeah, well that as before I found out the next girl is coming in late and I have to stay an extra hour.” She replied, shrugging her shoulders as she let out a defeated sigh. “Sorry, I don’t think tonight’s gonna work anymore. I’ve got this big photography project to finish, and I can already hear my couch calling my name. Maybe another time?”

“Oh. That makes sense..” She fidgeted with the towel in her hands, keeping her eyes on it the whole time. It seemed that Macy didn’t want to be here but Embry also thought that she also didn’t look mad about it which was why she was very confused to what she should be doing. Should she leave? “I.. Do you want me here?” The girl didn’t mind if she took another shift because she did hurt Macy even though it wasn’t her choice.

Macy couldn’t pull her gaze away from the girl at first, and it hurt her a bit to know that Embry wouldn’t look her in the eyes. After a moment, she forced herself to look away, and moved to stash her purse under the front counter where the employees normally stored small personal items during shifts. At Embry’s question, Macy paused briefly, then glanced back over at the blonde. “I..” I miss you, of course I want you here. She had to stop herself from saying the words out loud, not wanting to come off as if she was still desperately clinging to their past, even if she partially was. “I wouldn’t want you getting in trouble because of me.” She replied, her voice steady despite the overwhelming amount of nerves she felt. “You should stay. It’s been ages since we’ve worked a shift together, it’ll be just like old times.”

The surgeon took a sit in a relatively secluded area and set her bag onto the seat beside her. Luckily, she had a bit of time on her hands so she was able to come out and enjoy a decent cup of coffee instead of the batch that the staff had brewed up. “I’d like an Americano please. And whichever pastry you believe to be good today.”

Once the girl had taken a seat, Macy pulled out the pad she jotted orders down on, and quickly wrote down the surgeon’s choice of coffee. “We just pulled a batch of scones out, they’re still fresh if you’d like one of those?” She suggested, a polite smile on her face as she waited for a response.

“It’s actually horrible.” Mariana prosed with a bit of a grimace, turning back towards her original rack of clothes to find something cute for going out in. “I mean, come on, why would they even sell that in a store. They might as well throw it out.” She was stuck on the item before finally pulling out a crop top that she thought would fit Macy perfectly. “Oh my god. Look at this!” She turned towards her friend, holding it up against her body and practically jumping from excitement. “This would look amazing on you Mace! C’mon, you have to try it on. Imagine all the girls that would be into it!”

“Because someone will end up buying it and claim that it’s ‘vintage’.” She replied sarcastically, her hands forming air quotes as she spoke. Without giving the top another thought, Macy continued to look through the racks, not all that impressed with anything she was finding. When she heard Mariana’s words, she turned, her eyes widening at the sight of the crop top. “Oh my god, it’s adorable!” She squealed, taking the hanger from her friend as she looked down at it. She definitely wanted to try it on, that much was for sure. But when Mariana mentioned impressing other girls, her face fell slightly, and she just shrugged a bit. “Eh, I don’t know, Mari. It’d probably look better on you. Why don’t you try it on?”

She wasn’t sure how she was feeling when she came into work today. Embry was positive that the other was avoiding her so one could expect her surprise when she found out that they were working together today. Since she was so anxious, she came to work early and started to keep herself as busy as she could to try and distract herself. 

Obviously, it didn’t work too well because the moment Macy walked by, the girl froze in her actions. “Hey.. Mace.” Honestly, she wasn’t sure where they were in terms of relationship. Were they friends? Enemies? Was she allowed to call her Mace? “Uhm. I didn’t think you’d be working today. N-Not that I don’t want to work with you or anything.. but you know..”

There was no denying the way she could simultaneously feel her stomach wrench and her heart flutter just hearing the other girl use her nickname... Damn it. She was desperately trying to hold herself together, but it was hard, considering she still wasn’t over the blonde. But she took a deep breath, then turned around so she was facing Embry again. “Hey.” She replied, the same small smile on her face. It was nice to talk to her again, but at the same time incredibly confusing, because she wasn’t sure where they stood. “Yeah, me neither. But one of the other girls asked me to cover for her, and I needed the hours, so here I am.”

Macy enjoyed working at the cafe, even on days when it got so busy that there weren’t many seats left open. Today, however, the cafe was pretty dead, with only a couple people staggering in and out throughout the whole day. When she heard the little bell on the door ring, signalling that someone else had just walked in, Macy glanced over and smiled at the person who entered. “I’ll be with you in just a moment!” She called out, carrying a couple drinks over to another table before she approached the person by the door. “You can sit wherever you’d like.”

Walking into the cafe for her shift that day, Macy really shouldn’t have been surprised to see Embry there. After all, they worked together, so she should be used to seeing the blonde girl around by now. But she wasn’t, primarily because she had tried to avoid being scheduled for shifts that overlapped with Embry’s. Sadly that didn’t always work out. Taking a deep breath, she did her best to stay calm and keep her composure, despite knowing that this shift today would definitely be a long one. As she walked over to clock in, Macy passed Embry and smiled politely at the girl. “Funny seeing you here.” She stated light-heartedly, even though she could already feel her nerves building up inside of her.

The weather had been nicer recently, drawing Emma outside more and more out of habit. It was still strange to not have to worry about such things, but she knew today was going to be a good day, and good days were meant to be spent doing what she liked. As she walked along, Emma noticed a small patch of rocks one catching her eye as she bent down to pick it up. Someone else was about to walk past her, stopping them as she held it out to show them. “Sorry, I don’t mean to sound completely cliche, but doesn’t this look like Abe Lincoln?”

Macy had her headphones in as she walked in the direction of her apartment, having just finished her shift at the cafe for the day. She noticed the girl stop just in front of her, moving to the side so she didn’t run into the other as she kept walking. However, when the girl stopped her, Macy furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, pulling one earbud out of her ear so she could listen to the other girl’s words as she spoke. “I’m sorry.. but what?” She asked, even more confused than before. “I.. don’t see Abe Lincoln in that..?”

Looking through the clothes rack, it was a menial task to keep her busy on her down time without entirely isolating herself at her own apartment. The shop was filled with a variety of style, though the young woman was quick to voice her opinion as she glanced to the rack beside her. “You can’t seriously think that would look good on you?” Her eyes went to the article the other was looking at before rolling her eyes entirely. “First of all, that color does not suit you. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t suit anybody.” She wasn’t a fashion expert by any means, nor was she trying to pretend to be, but she knew what style was, and that was not it, and to her, she was only helping.

Shopping wasn’t one of Macy’s favorite activities in the world, but she still enjoyed it so long as Mariana was with her. As she dug through the racks of clothes, she couldn’t help but let out an amused snicker at the sigh ot a particularly brightly-colored top, holding it out just to get a better look at it - not because she thought it was cute, but because she wasn’t quite sure who the hell would actually wear it. When Mariana chimed in a moment later about the color not suiting her, Macy couldn’t help but laugh, placing the top back on the rack. “Believe me, I know. Who would even wear something like that? It’s hideous.”
