HOUSE M.D. 2.15 • 6.10
Anyway, here is an old art I didn’t post here because it is cringe. I guess I won’t be posting art here for a period, drawing is too tiring and time consuming and sometimes it is just like a waste of time especially when I’m going through inner turmoil recently

The state of the House fandom: a rant
Recently I’ve noticed that the house fandom is quite different from other fandoms- by that I mean the focus on purely sticking to intellectual discussion and very grounded (inside the box) views. Another user on tumblr made a very good post about this stuff earlier so I’m sort of inspired by them to write this, as this user said, some people in the fandom are so against people, particularly teenagers and more often than not neurodivergent people, enjoying their ‘blorbos’, having head canons, making cute art of non canon (usually queer) ships, yumeshipping, making OCs, OC x Canon and various AUs they deem ‘weird’. The fandom does have a problem with puritans and puritan attitudes- shooting down anything that isn’t 100% mundane. Most fandoms have moved past the whole 2012 Cringe Culture Era, but it seems a fair chunk of House fans have not. I get it’s an adult piece of media for mature audiences, but so is Saw, South Park and Mouthwashing- look at their fandoms. The reality is, a lot of these angst shows attract neurodivergent people, mentally ill people, traumatised people, and teenagers. As a neurodivergent person suffering from PTSD and recovering from depression, I take comfort in shows like House because it offers a form of escapism. I guarantee that other people enjoy the show for the same reasons. When you clown on someone for making a ‘weird’ but ultimately harmless headcanon, fanfiction, artwork or ship, you could be poking fun of a person who’s just trying to enjoy something. You would likely not say that to their face- I’ve left high school and as an adult, it’s generally considered rude to make fun of people unprovoked.
People get annoyed and complain about too many headcanons that ‘don’t fit’, unrealistic AUs, and ‘ugly’ art. Let’s be real here- the show itself is a work of fiction. There’s no way an American hospital would drop millions of dollars on a department that turns a negative profit. House would be in jail for a very long time and many of the doctors would not have their medical licenses. The show is fiction. The AUs are no more unrealistic than whatever is going on in canon.
Guide so people know how to act:
(Piece of art you think is ugly)- scroll
(Headcanon you don’t like)- scroll
(AU you don’t like)- scroll
(OC you don’t like)- scroll
This isn’t 2012. Cringe culture is fucking dead so stop trying to keep it in this fandom. Let people enjoy things

Leaving a fandom before the source material goes to shit but still hearing about what's going wrong with it from the friends you made when you were into it feels like standing on a lifeboat after a shipwreck and seeing your friends still in the water fistfighting the man eating sharks circling around
