crazy as red

Maia felt her cheeks grow red as Maddie winked. It wasn’t for any particular reason, just the forwardness of the comment wasn’t something she was used to at all. In fact, speaking with people was something she limited. Speaking with someone as bold as Maddie was definitely something she rarely did, if ever. The bold people at Hogwarts had never been interested in her; she supposed she was too boring for them. Maia often wondered what would happen if she scrapped together some confidence for once. She’d already done it with the color of her hair; who knew what kind of things she’d end up doing and saying? But that was impossible, and she knew it. Even if grew a bit more comfortable in her own skin and around other people, anxiety didn’t just go away like that. “Your friend?” She chose to focus on that part of the sentence. It wasn’t too often that someone offered something like that to her. “Sure, I’ll-I’ll be your friend,” She agreed quickly, almost too fast. She was still unsure of this girl, but whenever someone wanted to be closer to Maia, she tended to latch on as quick as she could, though she usually didn’t make it obvious. It mader her look desperate (which she was). “Oh, well you seem, er, quite confident in that area. Couldn’t be further from myself,” She took her shot at a joke, with a small laugh.
“The whole school must be new for you.” Maia nodded as Maddie spoke of what she considered the benefits of detention. In reality, Maia didn’t see it, and definitely wasn’t looking to sneak off and get drunk anywhere. She’d only had alcohol a few times. But again, it wasn’t because of some rule-following part of her, but a completely different reason. “It’s so big, and was really overwhelming in first year. But there’s tons of alcoves and places to sneak off that you can find.” She was sure she and Maddie would hide out in secret areas of the castle for different purposes, though. She listened when Maddie explained why she came to Hogwarts. It sounded almost like an excuse to cover something up, but there was no way Maia was going to pry. She wouldn’t appreciate it if someone tried to do that to her. “Guess everyone needs a change of scenery sometimes. You like Quidditch?” She furrowed her brows in confusion when Maddie called her cool. “I-I think you’ve got me mixed up. And I’ve been here since I was eleven, ever since I was told I was a witch back at the or-where I live.”
“I dunno if I…love rules, per say. Just that I don’t have it in me to break them. Anxiety’s a bitch.” Even just talking to Maddie, Maia felt a bit more confident, which was rare. She was joking and cursing casually, though the latter wasn’t exactly a huge feat for her. “I a-appreciate that. Maybe one day, though.” She gave Maddie a smile, trying to be as brave as her.
Maia was someone interesting, that Maddie would like to know more. Friendships, enemies, problems and how they 'whores' are built and have not seen overnight. But some people got faster or just needed some time - even more, the girl in front of her seemed to be so shy and so pure. Maddie could almost remember when she was like the other, long ago since the Mafia had been created. When the subject turned to sex, the American smiled again, letting the adrenaline of nocturnal amusements entertain her for a while. "No one is born knowing how to do sex or flirting. This is something you learn because you are learning about yourself. It's not like knowing what kind of bread you eat, but how you want people to see you. "
She overheard the other comment on the school and Maddie was too pretentious to find that someone would tell her that something was overwhelming. Beuxbatons was a large school, with a structure that was larger in width than height, being perfectly created by the hands of Flamel, which made the situation even funnier. "I liked knowing that here you have places to get away and have fun. Beauxbatons has several and you look and find new ones, the greater is Nicolas Flamel's desire to increase the structure. Let's just say it's a way to become good investigators and instigators of our own minds. "It was not often that the American woman distributed intelligence around, letting only a few perceive her thoughts and ideas, making sure Maia was perhaps more interesting than she herself expected it. "I want to see you at the Arrows. Or Montrose Magpies. They have the best teams at the time, I was captain of my team in Beauxbatons and here I need to make sure some kind of Potter understands why I am best to win this Championship here. Do you like Quidditch? Not everybody likes, it's an art. Some people prefer paintings and others to make sure the winning."
She noticed something in Maia's speech as if something she needed time to say not only to Maddie but to others. There were secrets not everyone had to know, and the American girl perfectly understood the girl with the pink hair. "You must know more than I do from here. Just read thank you Hogwarts, A Story because my teacher asked and I almost slept reading. Maybe I should reread." She laughed out loud when she realized the joke of the words, amused to realize that everyone had their ways of releasing stress." And I have anxiety about thinking of following anything extremely standardized. Anxiety is a drug, but we always find ways to resolve it. "And when she saw a smile coming from Maia, she could not resist continuing." Someone is smiling, and I like that. So what do you like to do in this place when you're not sunk in class?"
