littleivycooper:
“At least the food is good, and we’re getting food!” she said jokingly. “Yes, I mean, oh watch for the ball!” she giggled.
“Yeah...” She smiled softly, trying not to think about the times on the streets. She’d done her best but maybe it wasn’t enough. She chuckled and moved to grab the ball and bat it back gently.
littleivycooper:
“Do you like it here?” she asked as she started the game. Maybe it was a distraction for the game or a real question, Ivy didn’t know really.
Madison shrugged. “It’s fine.” Better than the street but she hadn’t taken to it at all. “Oops..” She missed as she moved to hit the ball.
littleivycooper:
“Yeah, I think so.” she said shrugging “why do you ask?” she asked looking up at her sister. She went over to her spot on the other side of the table.
“Just wondering.” Madison wanted her sister to be happy... as happy as she could be. Even if she wasn’t.
Sophie looked around all of Brielle to find a phone. All of the phones that were available, with permission, were all being used by others… Needless to say, she was working herself up into a bit of a panic. It had been weeks since she last spoke to her mom. Was she okay? Was she still mad? Did she know where Sophie was? …Did she care? Sophie needed to talk to her, at the very least to say that she was working on a plan to come back home!
She rounded a corner and called out to the nearest person. “I need to call someone….—Do you have an extra phone somewhere I could use? Or… Or something?”
Madison had been having a few nightmares the past few nights and wasn’t feeling too great. Not that she thought you could feel awesome being locked up in an institution but honestly, it was better than the street... mostly. For her little sister at least, and Madison would go wherever she was.
Looking up at the request, Maddie shook her head. “No... I don’t know where I’d even get one.” The only phones she’d seen that called out were the ones that were allowed for patient use and the one in the nurses station. Should she offer to help or something? “Sorry.”
elliotxharper:
“Cool,” He said with a quick nod. He then tossed the ball up and hit it with the paddle, serving it to Madison’s side.
Madison moved to smack the ball back towards him, managing to actually hit it this time, grinning. “Yes!”
littleivycooper:
“I will, promise!” she said crossing her heart but crossing her fingers behind her. It’s not that she was lying, but she knew she wouldn’t be that good so ‘going easy’ wasn’t really something she could do, so she had to lie and pretend she was trying to. “Where were you?” she asked handing over the paddle.
Madison shrugged. “Around.” Looking for something to steal since Maddie had gotten the urge more and more as the day progressed. She tried to rein it in but it wasn’t easy sometimes. “Do you like it here?” Madison wondered.
elliotxharper:
Elliot bit his lip as he thought. Truth be told, he wasn’t really sure either. Usually he just played until his other friend got bored and wanted to do something else. He offered a quick shrug before saying “How about whoever gets five points first wins? I’m not really sure either.”
Madison smiled and nodded her head. “Sure, five works for me.” She said, moving back to get ready for whenever he’d hit the ball again, determined to not let it drop.
elliotxharper:
“Elliot.” He answered, getting ready to hit the ball when it bounced to his side. It traveled more to the left than he expected. He lunged his paddle over to the far left, but he couldn’t quite make it. “Ah,” He huffed, smiling. “Good shot.” He flashed Madison an impressed smile before turning his wheels to retrieve the ball. He picked up the ball, placed it on his lap, and wheeled back over to the table. “So it’s 1-1 now. What do you wanna play up to?”
Madison had only ever really played this game once in her whole life. She chuckled a little, telling herself to relax. He seemed fine now, maybe it was all in her head. Or maybe he was just competitive. “Hm, I don’t know? What’s a good number to play to?” Was that a silly question? She didn’t know.
elliotxharper:
“Alright.” He bit his lip lightly, hoping he didn’t offend her with his comment. Maybe he was getting too into it. “So…–” He paused, realizing he never asked her name. “What’s your name?”
“I’m Madison.” She said, working up a little smile though she still wondered if he was a little cocky here. “What’s yours?” She asked, moving to hit the ball over to him.
littleivycooper:
“Ok!” she smiled up at her sister. They never had games at home, not really even board games. The two would sing and dance together and be totally goofy, but they really didn’t have most of the luxuries they did have at Brielle.
“Go easy on me.” Madison teased lightly. She knew that things here were better than on the street and that her sister was safe and they had what they needed... but she was still quite wary.
quietnevaehk:
“OK” she said and followed the blonde female. She hoped she’d get led to the right room this time, all she wanted to do was sleep. It had been such a long day for the young one.
She was always wary meeting new people but the girl didn’t seem like a threat. Madison turned halfway up another corridor. “I’m pretty sure this is it.”
quietnevaehk:
The brunette looked up at the blonde. She seemed…nice. Helpful maybe even. She nodded and handed the blonde her room number. Maybe the other had been there for a while. The paper only had her name and room number on it, not much else was typed on it, as her file was locked away - supposedly. At least that’s what she was told when they explained Brielle to her.
Madison took the paper and nodded, looking around. “Alright, yeah... I think I know where you’re at now, this way...”
elliotxharper:
“I bet you can!” He reassured quickly. “Do you want me to try less so you can get the hang of it?” Although it was a sweet offering, there was a hint of a taunting tone to his voice. His parents were both quite competitive with just about everything they did, so it was only natural that some of that spirit rubbed off on Elliot.
Madison flashed him a smile, pretty sure she’d caught a hint of something in his tone, but perhaps she was overthinking it. “No, don’t bother.” She shrugged. “I’ll catch up.” Madison didn’t really care if she was rubbish at it anyway, she was just trying to be nice after all. But still, he’d riled her a little.
