Goodbye 2013.

As the end of 2013 is fast approaching us I find myself reflecting on this year more and more. I have come along way growing not only physically but mentally as well. Being senior at the University of Central Florida now is something that I am very proud of but with real life fast approaching me it is time to look at life in a more broad spectrum.

2013 was a great year I had many ups and down that everyone goes through but it is time to reflect on the positives. I received employment from the Orlando Magic while soon after being promoted to a year round position. I also turned 21 years old over the summer, it was great to finally feel that sense of entitlement as a adult now. One of the hardest transitions for any young man or young women is how to make the transition to an adult. I believe I am well on my way and headed in the right direction.

Looking forward I plan to continue to actively pursue getting a scholarship to Seton Hall's Sports Management graduate program. I have already put in a lot of hard work to try to achieve this goal and 2014 will play a huge role on where my future is headed.

As I plan to graduate in 2014 and possibly move to New Jersey for graduate school I am very excited as well as anxious for what my future has in store for me. Thank you for all the great memories 2013!

Concussions and the NFL

The National Football League has had a strong rise in how concussions play a role in an NFL players future. This concussion issue seems to be reoccurring more and more these days because it has had a stronger impact on ex football players.

There has been a large increase in ex NFL players having severe brain injuries and even taking their lives due to depression. One of the most recent players to have an incident was Junior Seau. Junior Seau was one of the longest tenured most beloved players throughout his time in the NFL. His sudden death so close to the time he retired was an absolute shock to everyone. Junior had very strong morals and was very close with his family the fact that he took his own life was something no one could wrap their mind around.

After Junior Seaus death his family donated his brain to Concussion and brain trauma research in order to see how strongly his concussions in the NFL correlated with him taking his life. I hope that through more of these studies with ex NFL players we can hopefully gain more knowledge on how to help players get more help in the future in order to cut down on these tragic loses.

The United States of America.

As a young boy growing up it is always hard to grasp the bigger picture of life. All you know is that the government runs the country and all you can do is pray they are successful. This week the American government shut down due to the recent divide between the two parties over ObamaCare.

Yes I believe that Obama care can be good thing for this country and I also see the other side of thing and how it could effect our country negatively. I believe the biggest message that needs to be taken out of this is how quickly our country can turn on each other, we need to work on this in order to continue to be successful. We are by far the country with the most power and with power comes responsibility. With our government being so divided it tares our country apart.

I believe it is essential for not only the government but america as a whole to power through this struggle and learn from our mistakes. If the government can come together and make the best decision not only for individuals but for our country as a whole I believe this divide could actually turn out to be a good thing for our country to learn from.

UCF

Throughout my time at The University of Central Florida I have experienced and seen a lot of different things but some of the actions by my school and its members never fails to amaze me. This week at the University of Central Florida there was a run in with a student and a campus cop on a retinue traffic violation that turned horribly wrong. A student would not roll the window down for the police officer causing the officer to shatter the window and take the young girl to jail. Although the officer did the "right thing" i think many different actions could have been down to stop this unfortunate event. The whole altercation was filmed by a camera attached the the police officer and later that video was released to the public for everyone to see. I love UCF more than anyone but watching some of these events that happen throughout the year always baffle me. Like why would you even get yourself into that situation. The whole situation could have been prevented if the young girl would have just rolled her window down and talked to the police officer. But instead she made all the wrong decisions which lead not only to her window being busted in but also her being arrested for not doing what the police officers had asked of her. I just hope other student here at UCF watch the video and see how easy things could have been different if she would have just done what the officer had told her.

Hey my name is Madison Holesko. I am a current senior at the University of Central Florida. I am currently 21 years old and love my life. Growing up I never truly knew what I wanted to do with my life but ever since I came to UCF things have been completely different. I started taking classes I enjoyed and starting meeting new people away from my home town. Since I have been at UCF my life has gone at 100 mph. I always have something to do whether its school work, working my two jobs, or hanging out with friends. I currently work for the Orlando Magic. I got this job in January and wow has it been a life changer. I have a true passion for sports; its my life. So being able to work for a professional organization is just as good as it sounds. Being able to work inside of the Amway Center everyday is something I would dream of growing up. I created this blog for my Social Media class at UCF. The class so far has been so informative and I am learning so much about social media that I honestly never knew. Starting this blog should be interesting as well as fun! #dodd1 #dodd13
