When ya have enough time, can you critique my idea? My OCs friend gets killed in an accident. An incubator comes and tells her she can make a wish, blah blah blah. She asks for her friend to come to life, but the incubator cannot do that. So she wishes that her friend can go to heaven. I was thinking angel-based, perhaps even wings?
I like the idea, a magical girl based off an angel would be cute! One thing though, and it's more of a suggestion then anything, the wish being her friend going to heaven might be a bit to vague. There's no way for your girl to know that kyuubey had fulfilled the wish. That's just a suggestion though and if you like the wish then it's fine.

Hi! i'm making a magical boy version of Blue (the rival) from Pokemon for an AU. sorry if you're not familiar with the character but for the wish, he wishes to become the Kanto league champion and then falls into despair when his rival Red defeats him right away and Blue realises he's wasted his wish and traded his life for nothing. anyway, i'm not sure what powers his wish would give him though, any advice? also, sorry if this sounds lame because i'm really lame. thanks!!
Haha no your not lame, I do in fact know Blue, and if universe your creating it in still has Pokemon then maybe some kind of power that allows him to fight along side his Pokemon against witches? sorry thats all can think of, I really like the wish and everything, though! Good luck

anon from post/61442966287. I decided to keep the icy stuff to just a motif (like Sayaka with music notes?) but no powers of it or anything. I was thinking for her wish outcome will give her the power you said but over time gets weaker to less OP levels (aka once her worries are gone the wish power gets weaker) still kinda iffy or? (It dosn't go back up in power once troubles show up though)
Personally, I like this idea, of a power becoming more useless when it is no longer needed--and it is shown (at least in A Different Story, which I mostly treat as canon--sorry) that magic is very temperamental. Kyoko loses her magic due to her trauma and because she feels like she doesn't want it. It would make sense for a girl to lose some of her magic because her subconscious is telling her that she no longer needs it. You're definitely not in Mary Sue territory, so don't worry! :) It all sounds great! If you need anything else, just ask (as soon as the ask box is back up.)
OC idea in which a girl wishes to be thinner. I have no clue what to do for abilities or weapons. Her reason for despair is that no matter how much she eats now she's always hungry?
This is a very cool and original wish, but I see a tiny problem with it. Her wish was to make herself thinner, not to make herself hungry, so I don't see how that effect would come out of it. It's not like magic really has a price in the Madoka universe, beyond the whole witches thing. Most wishes in themselves do not cause despair, if you feel me. Maybe as an alternative, she deludes herself into thinking that she can't feel full? Or, and I think I like this best (although it's ultimately up to you) being thin doesn't get her the desired effect in her life--it doesn't immediately make everything better and doesn't make everyone notice and like her, which could make her despair.
As this is a selfish wish, abilities are more likely to be offensive. Just throwing some ideas out there here, but maybe she has some sort of light or electricity-themed power. It's hard for me to say, exactly, because powers are more about the character design than anything else. (What does Mami's ribbon powers have to do with her wish?)
Maybe something like a spear, throwing knives, or a bow and arrow for the weapon? All of these seem thin and quick, which somehow seems to go along with the wish, although weapons, like offensive powers, are generally are more involved with the theme of the character than the wish, unless they're like Homura's shield which is necessary for the wish.

So, I'm making this oc for fun, and I'm having some slight trouble. First of all, she has these two best friends that she holds very, very dearly to her, and she's always very over-protective of them, and that's what her contract-forming wish is about: she wishes that, no matter what, they will always be safe from any harm. I have this nagging thought that all of that seems a bit too cliche, any help? (Also, I'm not too sure as to what her power based on her wish might be. Thanks!)
I like this idea a lot--overprotective people sometimes do counterproductive things. This does mean, however, that they won't lead her to becoming a witch by dying or something, so that's good. If they left her, though, she probably wouldn't be very happy. I don't think it sounds very cliche, so don't sweat it. If you want some more advice on making her more unique if it's still frustrating you, just ask again when the ask box is open again.
As for the power, this sounds like a selfless wish, so therefore it's probably a more defensive power. Something simple but cool like forcefields or shields might be a cool idea, or maybe if you wanna go for a more offensive edge, she could create a barrier around the thing she's fighting to keep it trapped for a moment or two? Or even both, but make sure they're not invincible.

Would it be okay if my OC came from a civilization where being a Puella Magi was considered normal? Maybe starting at the age of 13, each teenage girl gets a choice of becoming a Puella Magi and making a contract with QB. Puella Magi can be their military forces, and they have to fight until the end. Kind of like our soldiers, they do difficult and dangerous things, and some of them go crazy, but it is considered a pride and honor to be one. Is that a good idea?
I think that's a really cool-sounding idea. The one thing is that unless you're totally reconfiguring the universe (which sounds like a cool idea if that's what you're planning) not every girl has the chance to become a magical girl. Only some have the potential to become magical--other girls can't ever do it.

What would be the repercussions if a Magical Girl, say, wished for immortality?
If a Magical Girl were to ask for immortality, there would probably be a lot of problems with that. Mod T and I once worked on problems for an OC of our own with a similar wish.
For one thing, there's the issue of her witch form. Our girl couldn't be killed, even as a witch--creating a gigantic problem in the form of an unbeatable witch. However, I get the feeling you're looking more for immediate problems.
Well, there's always the issue of watching all of your friends die around you, and not ever being able to die yourself. And does she wish for eternal youth, or just to live forever? A tiny old magical girl who can't die would also be a problem.
I'm just idea-dumping right now, so if you need more, just ask as soon as I open the ask box again!

Don't over work yourselves! I really love this blog and all of the advice you two give is very helpful, but I understand life can get overwhelming. I'm glad to see you guys are coming back, but don't forget to take some time to relax! Basically, what I'm trying to say is, I really appreciate everything you do for all of us fans with OCs, but I also care a lot about you guys and want to make sure you are doing okay as well?
I just want to start off by saying thank you to you for being so sweet. This really made me smile. :) Mod T and I are doing fine, we're just a little (or a lot) busy. But we're keeping our heads above the water! We really enjoy helping people with their characters and it's sad that all forty something messages waiting for us in our inbox haven't gotten answered yet. Soon. Soon.
