Some Voices, "Across The Universe" - Electric Brixton, April 2016
May Day weekend in the Lakes District. Old friends, new friends, amazing food, large amounts of wine and views like these.
Little Red Courgette
Spring is finally arriving in London. I've been here for three weeks now and have seen brilliant sunshine, thunderstorms, hail and snow (all in one day). Despite the weather I feel surprisingly settled already and while I've made rather a lot of semantic slip-ups (the look I got in Lidl when I asked where the 'Zucchini' was...) I feel like I'm keeping up so far and learning how this all works relatively quickly. I've all but mastered the tube and am starting to grasp the importance of postcodes, but I'm still not 100% sure how to respond to "orrite?" as a greeting, nor how to order the exact coffee I want (a flat white, but not in an espresso cup, but still with two shots, and for god's sake stop burning the milk). I may also still have to stop myself getting visibly excited when I spot a squirrel in a park. It's exhausting feeling so happily overwhelmed and excited and lucky every single second. I imagine it will wear off but for now it's a pleasantly grounding feeling that I'd completely lost in the last year or so of living in Melbourne. I'm sure this is coming off completely naïve but for the moment I'm just happy to revel in how amazing this city is; to be careening around in it like a giddy, gobsmacked country bumpkin.
Storms at the Rijksmuseum

Munich churches and bell tower views.
Englischer Garten, Munich. I was lucky enough to be here on what must be the first warm day in Germany for 2016 - 24 degrees!
Wine time. Cinque Terre, Italy.
Yesterday I hiked around la Cinque Terre. Incredible views, amazing seafood, new friends, boat rides, average wine and a little bit of hard work. It was a perfect day aside from me sleeping through my alarm and nearly missing the bus, then having to run to the station. But for anyone considering this trip DO IT and don't take the bus, the walk is worth every second!
