me: wow things are actually going really well for once!
the crippling anxiety, waiting in the corner:
It’s okay to make mistakes. There’s no reason to be unreasonably anxious about it.
― Last time I saw you, you were trying to kill everybody. Where are you at these days?
― It varies from moment to moment.
You may only call me “Mrs. Darcy”… when you are completely, and perfectly, and incandescently happy. Then how are you this evening… Mrs. Darcy? Pride & Prejudice (2005) dir. Joe Wright
Once a disappointment, always a disappointment.
*organizes life at 3am*
“How nice it would be if by some magic, some enchantment, I could forget everything that had happened in the last few years; forget everything, refresh my mind, and begin again with new energy.”
— Fydoror Dostoevsky, from The Complete Works; “The Insulted and Humiliated,”
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) dir. Rian Johnson
I think the reason I enjoy Ghibli so much is it romanticizes the little things. It makes me want to bake, study, clean the house, garden, and more while listening to happy music and occasionally picking wildflowers and lying in the grass. It helps me find joy in day-to-day life and that’s honestly sooo important for my mental health.
Hayao Miyazaki has said on numerous occasions that he wants children to know that even when the world seems harsh and life is hard, it is always still worth living, and there is always something beautiful in it.
That mental health boost is intentional and Miyazaki wants you to believe that you should continue to live, even if just for those little things.
“ I Will Always Love You “
Anxiety over nothing is the best and worst kind of anxiety there is. I think. *frets some more*
My insecurities and self-loathing know no bounds. Lol.
