“If you care about someone, tell them. Be open about it. Such beautiful feelings of love should not be kept hidden.”
— Nicole Addison @thepowerwithin
“Your thoughts and feelings come form your past memories. If you think and feel a certain way, you begin to create an attitude. An attitude is a cycle of short-term thoughts and feelings experienced over and over again. Attitudes are shortened states of being. If you string a series of attitudes together, you create a belief. Beliefs are more elongated states of being and tend to become subconscious. When you add beliefs together, you create a perception. Your perceptions have everything to do with the choices you make, the behaviors you exhibit, the relationships you chose, and the realities you create.”
— Joe Dispenza
Am I getting writing done? No. But am I keeping up with readings and emails? No. But am I at least not inducing unnecessary anxiety by comparing myself to others who are highly productive and thriving during the pandemic? Also no.
Please love yourself, my friend.
Can’t reblog this enough.
Not the way I figured it would turn out, but I learned something here.
This is called Trophic Cascade in ecology.
the thing that they really shouldn’t have left out is that wolves were hunted down and eradicated from yellowstone because people didn’t know shit about a balanced ecosystem and just saw them as predators and therefore a threat to the rest of the ecosystem. bringing back those wolves was the start to fixing a problem that was created by us being idiots and interfering with what should have been left alone. if in only a few decades 14 wolves changed yellowstone that much by balancing the ecosystem just think about how much harm we as humans especially western cultures (because indigenous cultures generally knew how to care for the land) have done by tipping the scales. it makes me furious how poorly we take care of the environment. it’s absolutely mainly the fault of large corporations that drain resources just to make a profit. capitalism isnt just ruining lives it is destroying the world.
“Perhaps one of the biggest challenges of life is creating the perfect balance between all aspects that exist with in your world.”
— Nicole Addison @thepowerwithin
“Is it really so difficult to do what must be done? It’s not difficult at all, when you stop fighting against it. One little step will get you started, and once you’re started, you become interested and invested. Once you’re started, momentum begins to give you a push that becomes stronger with each effort. Instead of putting off what you know must be done, what if you could somehow get yourself to be positively enthusiastic about it? You absolutely can, because you can choose how you wish to feel about anything. The genuine satisfaction in your life comes when you know you’re making a difference. And whatever it is in your world that must be done is your opportunity to make that difference. Go beyond intending, go beyond planning, go beyond wishing, and go beyond saying you need to get it done. Dive in, go to work, make something happen and be the positive, dynamic difference that makes you feel alive.”
— Ralph Marston
This strategy is effective.
When I set personal goals, I keep them just that: personal.
I don’t discuss business projects with family or close friends, and when it comes to stuff closer to the heart (like dropping a few pounds or saving more money), I tell no one.
Why all the secrecy?
Because communicating your goals tricks the brain into thinking you’ve already achieved them.
Sharing your plan makes you less likely to put in the work necessary to achieve it, even when the people you tell are supportive.
“look my dear, we’re humans, you miss them, it’s okay. they don’t miss you, fine. cry your heart out, spend some nights in restlessness but do not waste your entire life thinking about how things would have been if they stayed, don’t wonder about the life you could have lived if everything worked out your way. you have to accept that what’s gone is not coming back and most importantly, their absence is necessary for your life to get better.”

“The idea of not being a kid anymore terrifies me. I am an adult and I have been hurled out of the world of boys and girls into the fray of men and women, and expected to function as a grown-up when I never functioned very well as a kid.”
