Krampus

A devilish figure, sometimes a multitude of "Krampuses". While St. Nicholas visits on December 6th, December 5th is known as Krampusnacht, the night where Krampus roams the street, though he is not here to give gifts. He beats naughty children or even abducts them to eat or take them to Hell, and sometimes gives out coal or birch sticks. Some offer the spirits schnapps or coals, and it was a tradition to give out Krampuskarten, greeting cards featuring the character.

Pantheon: Alpine Folklore

Domain or Function: Arrives during the holidays to punish or abduct bad children.

Alternate Names: Krampusz, Kramper, Bartel, Bartl

Character Traits: Often considered an evil spirit who eats children, though modern versions tend to depict him a little cuter and less frightening.

Visual Traits: His classic depiction is a black demon brandishing a birch bundle or chains, with a basket on his back to keep children in. He is horned and has one goat leg and one human leg.

Symbolism: Birch bundle, chains.

Kulshedra

Usually said to begin life as a blind serpent called a bolla, going through a series of evolutions until it becomes the foul she-serpent known as a kulshedra. This creature brings drought, famine, storms, and chaos, and is the Albanian equivalent to the Chaoskampf mythology trope. Depending on the region of Albania the serpent could appear as a hag, a beautiful woman, an eel, a turtle, a haired serpent, or a winged dragon. It is paralleled by the archetypical hero known as a drangue. It is also said that the village the kulshedra lives in becomes prosperous, while all others starve.

Pantheon: Balkan, Albanian

Domain or Function: Evil serpent that brings disaster where it goes, Chaoskampf archetype.

Alternate Names: Kuçedra, also known as a bolla, bollar, or errshaja in its earlier life stages.

Character Traits: It is a being of pure evil and chaos that brings all manner of destruction and plague.

Visual Traits: Described in many ways though always some form of monsteresque lizard, eel, serpent, turtle, or dragon. Sometimes said to disguise itself as a beautiful woman.

Symbolism: Serpents, fire.

Ọbatala - Obatalá - Obatala

The Great Orisha, king of them all, and the first ruler. The highest, Ọlọrun, tasked Ọbatala with creating the world below. Under visions from Orunmila he was told to gather a gold chain, satchel, and various items that vary based on the version of the tale (a hen, a cat, shells, etc.) He uses the gold chain to descend below where he releases a bird that spreads sand to create beaches, mountains, and valleys, and a palm nut which grows all forests. Ọbatala begins the task of creating all humans from clay, but is drunk on palm wine and creates deformities by accident. As a result, in some variations, his brother Odùduwà takes up the task instead due to his drunkenness leading to an eternal struggle between the two. Sometimes he is aided by a consort, often Yemòwó or sometimes Yemọja. There also existed a mortal Ọbatala , first ruler of the kingdom of Ilé-Ifẹ̀, who feuded with his brother Odùduwà and was deified upon his death.

Pantheon: African Diaspora Religions

Domain or Function: Ruler of all orisha, creator of man, lord of purity, and keeper of wisdom.

Alternate Names: Oriṣanla (The Great Orisha), Ooṣala, Oxalá, Ochala, Orixalá.

Character Traits: A powerful and wise god who leads humanity and exemplifies purity and good traits.

Visual Traits: Usually adorned in flowing robes of pure white, wearing a beaded mask or crown (Ade Obatala). Often carries a staff (Opa Osooro) with bells and dangling ornaments, topped with a white dove.

Symbolism: The color white, doves, snails, Opa Osooro staff, gold chain, shekere gourd, aye instrument, Igba Iwa (calabash of existence).

Gave myself a way to remember which order to update and publish fics and figure out how to know which project is meant for the world to read. The numbered ones are the in progress projects and the ones that have letters are the drafts of projects that I don't know what to make of yet beyond the titles. Some of them might be familiar to some of you while others aren't.

Okay, I didn't realize that I ended up getting myself into a massive plot hole until after I outlined the Second Soundtrack and discovered that I was going to lose my marbles if I left said plot hole in my writing for the Dimensional Edda and the Amnesiac Resurrection Canon, knowing it would be a massive sink hole once the First Soundtrack of the Remix-Verse became shelved, which resulted in this. Not ideal, but I'm not against trying again in my writing, but it's going to be until somewhere in 2027 for these projects to be published on AO3.
