I love how people interpret whether or not humans (in the Transformers universe) have EM fields that behave and work the same way they do in mechs. I like the take that we do, though they’re a little different than Cybertronians’, and most of us cannot consciously detect or interact with them the way they can.

I say “most” because I would absolutely be pushing the envelope trying to find a way to do so. Recruiting the science and medical mechs in this quest. Yes you can scan me, I don’t care, I just want to be able to fully communicate with you!

Wouldn’t it be weird that there’s this species that’s so similar to yours, but even though they have a particular means of communication like yours, they don’t realize it until you encounter them for the first time. On top of that, it’s only passively expressed through their neurological and electrochemical systems, as what they would think of as a background process at best.

Wonder if they would almost feel like voyeurs, knowing we can’t hide or control our EM fields, and don’t even know what we’re communicating to them. How much they would catch themselves trying to communicate to us with their fields, only to be surprised every time we don’t seem to react. It must be so unsettling.

And for us, knowing they can pick up on things we don’t even know we’re communicating to them…imagine the confusion, feelings of invasion of privacy, but for some, a longing to connect with our new friends. To meet them on their level. Sadness over the disconnect, worry that it makes them see us as less or even lesser.

Though maybe over time, the longer you’re exposed to them, and especially if you are exposed to spark energy, they realize your EM field is starting to respond to theirs - but on a level you haven’t consciously grasped yet… you just know you feel safe and happy sometimes, around them. Unknown to you, it’s when they’re wrapping you up in the corona of their fields.

That’s a little bit of cosmic horror going both ways.

Feel Like Rain Pt 4

IDW Ratchet x Reader

• Still mass displaced, he shifts at your back. Attention on that small hand still gripping his as he rubs a servo against the side of your hand. Feels your head move against his chassis, soft hair sliding against him as you drift back to alertness again. “I’m here,” he whispers as your eyes open and you’re calmer this time. Hooking his arm around you so he can gently tip your head up and see those unfocused eyes. “Do you remember me?”

• Of course, he’s the owner of that low, reassuring voice that whispered you through the pain. Not human, but it doesn’t really matter. “Name?” Your voice is rougher than you expect, throat aching. Coughing softly as he shifts against you and brings a container to your lips and you don’t hesitate, drinking greedily and trying to hold onto it when he gently pulls it away.

• “Not so much, yet. Let’s see how you do first,” he says, servo swiping your bottom lip dry. So much more fragile than his normal patients. Helpless and soft in his arms. Needing him and those eyes stare up at him, waiting. “I’m Ratchet.” And you’re doing so much better than he expected. Not panicking, but then you’re probably too exhausted. Moving against him, he watches you begin to take stock. Examining your bound arm and leg. “What do you remember?”

• Gingerly making sure you can wiggle your fingers and toes, you glance up at that kind face then away. “I wrecked. A deer- or a dog? Something ran out in front of me.” Something big. It’d been dark, though, and you remember seeing the movement and swerving away, going off the road and down into the ravine. Being trapped and in pain. The sun coming up and the temperature climbing as you struggled to get loose. Then him. His voice.

• “I did what I could for you,” he says, watching you checking that you can feel your extremities. And that guilt slips in again. Guilt that he’d kept you instead of just taking you to a human medic for proper treatment. But he hasn’t been able to trust your care to a stranger. “You’ll need time to heal.” Venting as you lean back against him, the top of your head brushing his chin. Relaxed in his arms like you have no concerns. Like you feel safe there. “Feel like trying some food?”

• Leaning so you can see his face and those optics staring down at you, there’s an impulse to reach up and touch him and the fingers of your good hand brush his jaw before you realize you really shouldn’t. Because he freezes at your touch as if shocked and leans back some to break the contact and your eyes drop. Why had you done that? He’s a stranger no matter how familiar he seems and not only that, alien and possibly dangerous. But you don’t really believe that. No one with such gentle, kind hands could be a threat to you.

i just wanted to say that one of the things i really enjoy about your writing is that you give us the point of view and thoughts of the cybertronians as well and not just the reader character. I very much enjoy their internal turmoil and it makes things more interesting when you see things from their perspective as well. I appreciate that i don't have to wonder how they are feeling in the many interesting situations you put them in :D

The perspective shift is how I’m used to writing for my serious stuff, though I pick someone’s POV and stick with it for an entire chapter at a time. Can’t really do that with these shorter form pieces. But I like getting both sides, makes misunderstandings so much more fun to play with

IDW Ratchet x Reader

• When you open your eyes, the room is so bright you immediately close them again, head pounding. Awareness slowly sinking into you that you’re propped up on something warm. That’s there’s a hand wrapped around one of your wrists and someone’s breath stirring your hair. None of those little details making any sense at all in your confusion. Squinting, there’s a feeling of disorientation as you try to reconcile what you’re seeing with reality. Oddly thinking of Alice in Wonderland as the scale of the space you’re in sinks in. Everything made for someone much bigger than you are. Lifting your head, you bump into something solid that makes a deep, noise. That hand around your wrist flexes, fingers sliding against the soft underside until they find your pulse. And you look down, breath hitching at that red, intricately jointed metal hand touching you.

• Your pulse is racing under his servos as he drags himself out of recharge after spending all night watching over you, finally giving up and holding you when you wouldn’t stop shaking from the cold. Hears you make a pained little noise as your feet slide on the surface of the berth, moving that broken leg he’d tried his best to set. “You’re going to hurt yourself,” he growls, catching your wrapped arm before you can try to push him away. “You’re okay.” Hating that broken, pained moan that escapes you and the way you begin to tremble. Hurting and scared. Is he a monster to you? Causing you harm by trying to help you?

• Heart racing as adrenaline shakes through you, you push your head back, trying to arch out of the stranger’s embrace. That voice, though. You remember it whispering to you while you’d drifted in and out. That voice and such gentle hands taking care of you. Looking up, you can see a jaw and a serious mouth. Not human, not flesh and blood, though. What is he? He’s restraining you, but carefully as if it matters if you get hurt and that calms the fear, feeling it slip out of you to leave you exhausted. Because that voice saved you, you’re sure of it. He’s just not human.

• Slumping back against him, he’s not sure if you just exhausted yourself or if you understand he’s not going to hurt you. Hopes it’s the latter, but doesn’t really expect it to be. “You’re safe, but I can’t let you thrash around,” he murmurs, gently releasing your bound arm. Relaxing himself when you slowly lower it instead of fighting him again. Freezing as your good hand finds his still draped across you to keep you still. Shaking fingers sliding against the back of his hand in a frightened exploration. Silent, he turns his hand over, spark aching when you interlace your small fingers with his much bigger servos. Accepting his word. Trusting him to take care of you. “You going to be okay.”

• And you believe him. Believe that low, gruff voice despite yourself, because that voice gave you something to focus on besides the pain. Telling you what he’s doing as he’d tried to help you even if he wasn’t aware that you could hear him. Keeping you present and aware instead of just drowning in misery. Those strong servos gently squeeze your hand and you lay your head back against him. Studying his profile. His own head turning so those bright blue optics are watching you as exhaustion tugs at you. “Pretty eyes,” you murmur, giving in and letting your stressed body pull you back under.

TFP Ratchet x Reader

• Back to this game again. Avoiding him and angry. And even understanding why, it doesn't make it any easier to deal with. You're not avoiding the base this time at least, probably because you know he'll just go bring you back again. Unfortunately, you're as stubborn as he is and he knows you're not going to back down. Not until he admits that he's not okay. That he's exhausted and so tired of the fighting. That he's not recharging because the nightmares come for him when he shutters his optics and because he needs to keep working. Keep researching for viable energon alternatives. They’re all depending on him and he can’t let them down.

• Feeling those optics on you, the fine hair at your nape prickles with awareness, but you don’t look back at Ratchet. Pointedly ignoring him as Bumblebee warbles unhappily, picking up on the tension between you both. Oh, that’s right. You’re the only one tense, because he’s fine. He’s always fine. It’s almost a relief when Fowler stops by, rising from the kid’s couch and going to talk with him since he’s apparently the only other adult in the room. “Hey,” you say, and he glances up from fighting with his tie.

• Stiffening as you lean on the rail beside Fowler, he wishes he was closer. That he could hear your conversation as you smile at something the man says. That tension relaxing from your shoulders as you reach out to touch his arm with a smile. Just a harmless touch, but he hates it. Hates seeing you smile and laugh with the other human because it’s a pointed reminder that he’s not human and never will be. That eventually, you’ll find another human to spend your life with and stop spending it with him. That he can’t be what you need and the thought freezes him in place. Because when had he started thinking of you like that? As more than a friend? Because it’s true, he does want more than just your time. And it’s one more thing he can never admit to you.

• “Don’t look now, but doc looks like you kicked his puppy. What did you do?” Fowler murmurs and despite yourself, you look. And the way he’s staring at you, that forlorn expression is something you’ve never seen before. Gone so quickly when he realizes you’re looking at him and he turns and walks away. “I’ve got to go,” you say, touching Fowler’s arm and hurrying along the catwalk. What had that look been? He’s always so guarded, but whatever that was had been raw. Achingly so. “Doc!”

• Gritting his denta, part of him wants to bend and reach for you. Feel you in his servos. Instead he stops with his back to you. Because those impossible thoughts are still there, hurting him with things he knows aren’t meant for him. “What?” It comes out gruffer than he means and he hears your shoes scuff to a stop. Almost wants to drive you away right then, to make you so furious you leave and never return. Because the longer he has you beside him, the more it’s going to hurt when you go. And it already feels like his spark is rending apart.

• Staring up at his back, you’re half tempted to pick up the argument right where you’d left it. Would it be so bad to admit that he’s not ‘fine?’ That he needs help? He can’t and you know it. Neither one of you any good at just talking, always snapping at each other. Hurting each other. And you’re just so tired of it. No matter what you’d seen, he won’t own up to whatever’s wrong. Won’t let you help, because he thinks you can’t. “Never mind.” Turning, you start back the way you came. Because no matter what you say, it’ll end with both of you arguing and angry. Too much alike for either of you to bend and you don’t want to do it anymore. Tired of reaching out and only getting hurt.

• Servos curling under into fists, he knows it’s a good thing. That he should begin distancing himself before he gets anymore wrapped up in you. Because he needs the sound of your voice, needs those tired smiles, and the touch of those little hands on his arm. He’s seen you fall apart crying and he’s seen you work through the exhaustion and fear. Stronger than he ever would have guessed an organic could be. And he’s turning, mass shifting. Feeling the strain of becoming so much smaller, of burning energy he didn’t have to spare. But he can’t let you go, too selfish because he needs this. Need you with him. Almost stumbling as he catches up and reaches to snag the back of your covering. And you turn and you’re so much closer like this, letting him notice details he never had before as he grabs your upper arm and pulls you to him. “I’m not okay.”

Weird isekai idea that I had that I just wanted to realise into the wild.

Ok so you know how there are multiple stories out there about reader getting transported into the world of journey to the west and then ending up tagging along as the pilgrims make their way west. Here's the thing most of the time these story's take place once the group has already been assembled or the reader ends up meeting Tripitaka first.

So here's the thought what if reader meets Wukong before the group has a chance to get together. Let me explain.

So imagine reader has just arrived in a strange new world and they have absolutely no clue where they are or how they got there and are freaking out really badly. So they start calling out to see if there is anyone nearby that can help them and after a good few minutes of wandering around and shouting for help they suddenly get a reply. Relived they rush towards the voice, only to find that the person that was calling to them wasn't a person but a monkey that looks to be trapped within the rock of a mountain. And it only takes them a second to realise that this isn't just any monkey but thee monkey, the monkey king, Sun Wukong himself and somehow they've been transported into the story of journey to the west. Their internal crisis soon gets interrupted as Wukong starts asking if they wouldn't mind helping him out with his situation. Knowing the story not to mention what Wukong's capable of they immediately disagree much to Wukong's outrage. At Wukongs outburst they go to leave but that’s when they realise that they still have no clue where they are and what's worse no idea who could help them except for maybe Tripitaka so they resolve to wait for him much to Wukong confusion. Realising that it might not be a good idea to tell him that they are not exactly from this world they stick with the hopelessly lost excuse. which Wukong responds with that he would be happy to help them out if they let him out which is an obvious no so things quickly devolve into a stale mate.

Days go by and they end up talking a lot, with Wukong casually trying to convince them to take off the seal every now and then and them always refusing. But as the days go by the more anxious and worried reader gets after all they have no idea at what point in the story they are and it could very well be a hundred year before Tripitaka will eventually show up. Food and shelter are also a worry as they've managed to get by due to it being summer and there is plenty to forage and a small cave nearby that they've been using for shelter but they know it won't last forever. but most of all they really, really want to go home they miss their family their friends they miss their life. More time goes by and day by day reader and Wukong bond even more to the point where the monkey king has actually grow quite fond of them and cares quite a lot to the point that he starts helping them out in what little ways he can. He even stops constantly trying to get them to remove the seal on the mountain only occasionally asking every now and then and its usually only after he see them struggling, instead he's taking the time to ask them about themselves and find out more about them and in return he tell them about himself usually stories of his glory days. eventually they come clean about the fact that they are not from this world and how they have no idea how they got here or how to get home, breaking down a bit as Wukong resolves to help in any way he can. Then one day it happens completely unprompted reader suddenly get up and start walking away at first Wukong doesn't think anything of it as they often leave to look for food and other such things but as the hours go by and they've yet to come back Wukong starts to worry think that something bad might have happened to them before he gets the horrible thought that they might have just finally got sick of waiting and left him. Stewing in his thought the monkey king slowly growing more and more enrage and heartbroken at the potential betrayal. when suddenly he can feel it, he can feel the mountain shift and he realise what they have done. It's after another few hours pass that he hears them running down the mountain catching a quick sight of them as they run past him. it doesn't take him long to realise that they are getting a safe distance away and he waits a few more hours before he finally breaks free. Meanwhile your despriatly trying to catch your breath as you watch the entire mountain explode chunks of rock flying in all directions and your barely able to make out a reddish orange blur coming towards you before your enveloped in a bone crushing hug.

Thus beings their own journey to find a way to get reader home.

I dunno I just really like the idea of Guanyin or Tripitaka turning up and Wukong not being there and all of haven freaking out because the monkey king is on the loose and no one has any idea where he is.

Guys I just realized something. I'm re-reading the mtmte and I noticed something.

So Megatron (after dark cybertron) he told Ratchet that he wanted to be a medic.

And I think it's because of Terminus. He was "sick" and needed help. But because he was a miner nobody gave a damn. Only Megatron. He always helped him but he couldn't give him proper help becuse he wasn't a medic. And he know that nobody will help his friend. So he wanted to became a medic so he could finaly help him.

And in the functionalist universe he became a medic. So now he can finaly take care of his friends.

An ROTB request: Mirage is struggling to woo a female human, so he asks Bumblebee for help. Bee being annoyed at the question, but Mirage insisting Bee can help since he’s had a human “girlfriend” before.

So far I’ve only used lyrics and quotes when writing dialogue for Bee, but I wanted to try something different. I used italics and dashes as an attempt to visually communicate he’s using bits of audio strung together to form sentences. Hopefully it’s not too distracting, but lemme know what ya’ll think.

Mirage x Fem!Reader

“Bee, please,” Mirage followed the yellow mech as he walked around, hoping maybe he could annoy him into compliance, “I’m begging here. It’s embarrassing!”

Bumblebee paused and turned around to give Mirage an unimpressed glare.

“Dude, c’mon,” Mirage held his servos out for emphasis, “You’re the only bot I know who’s ever managed to do it. I’m just coming to the master for advice.” He gave Bee an overeager smile.

Mirage didn’t usually have this problem, and it had certainly never gotten bad enough to ask for help before. He was charming, funny, and incredibly handsome, obviously. So why couldn’t he pique your interest? You were friendly with him, which he was thankful for, but he wanted more than that. 

He replayed times you’d snickered at his jokes or smiled at his flirting, but the banter was never returned. The closest he got was when you’d complimented him on his racing skills and he’d thought about it for days after. But you were always just friendly, seemingly oblivious or uninterested in him. So here he was, coming to the only mech he thought might be able to help.

Bee rolled his optics and put his servos on his hips. It was almost painful witnessing Mirage try to impress you with things you very clearly did not find impressive; so he figured maybe giving him advice wasn’t a bad idea if it meant no longer suffering through secondhand embarrassment.

“You - think - she’s pretty?” Bee asked, stringing words together from the radio and his own recordings.

“Duh-”

“And you’ve - told her?”

“Yes,” Mirage said as though the answer was obvious, but Bee just stared at him, “Okay, not like, in those exact words or whatever…”

“Have you ever - tried to - talk - to her - about her - interests?” Bee asked, though he was suspicious he already knew the answer.

Mirage was silent for a second and furrowed his brow ridge, “Well I’ve talked to her about stuff I’m sure she thinks is cool,” he huffed.

“Talked - or - told?”

“Uh,” Mirage glanced at the ground, and Bee slowly shook his head in disapproval. He was feeling a bit guilty now that Bee was subtly calling him out, but he’d asked for this.

“Dude - have you ever - tried - just - listening to - her?” Bee asked, crossing his arms and raising a brow.

Mirage didn’t talk back. He knew he was very outgoing and sometimes jumped into things before listening, but he didn’t realize just how much he’d done it to you.

“You want - to know how - I got - Charlie? - I listened - much - more - than I - talked.”

“Well you were kinda forced to,” Mirage pointed out.

“And?”

“And I guess it doesn’t matter…”

“No one - is going to - like you - less - if you - listen - more,” Bee said, patting MIrage on the shoulder. “That’s - just - not how it works. - You’ve gotta - know - people - if you want to be - known.”

After a few moments of silence, Bee nodded once then turned to walk off, figuring he’d gotten his point across.

“Uh, thanks? I think?” Mirage called.

Bee didn’t turn around, just holding out his servo to give a thumbs up. He felt a little embarrassed by Bee pointing out the obvious, but hey, at least now Mirage had a better plan than fumbling until he hit the mark. He just hoped it would work.
