UTAU CV OTO TUTORIAL
not to toot my own horn, but i think my CV banks sound pretty good.
to start out, this is what London’s CV bank sounds without oto at all
yikes. let’s fix that.
alright, this is my selected sample, the beginning of cendrillon.
the first sound is -a. vowels are easy! just drag the offset (blue bar) to the very beginning of the note, move the pink bar (the part of the sample you want to play) as far as you want. next, bring the overlap (red bar) to around 10ish. no overlap! (green bar) because it sounds weird.
finally, scroll to the very end and drag the cutoff (other blue bar) past when your sample fades out. this will be for every note.
do all your vowels like this
alright! the sext sample is -sa. consonants are a bit different, because most people break them up into ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ it’s up to you to decide which ones are hard/soft. (if you dont want to do that, just do the rest of the samples like this)
first off, do the offset and consonant bars. if your ‘ssss’ is a bit too long, you can trim it with the cutoff. Next, click the little ‘squiggle’ thing in the top left of your editor
itll bring you to this spooky boy! so what you want to do is drag that red bar until the white and blue boxes start to appear on the bottom. that’s the end of the ‘sss’ click the squiggle again to go back. if it’s a little off just change it.
exit the editor and change the overlap text box to half of the preutterance box.
For your hard consonants, make the overlap around ¼ of the preutterance
Now it sounds like this!
Hmm. That pesky -o sounds a bit choppy… how do we fix that?
It’s easy! Go to >tools, >built in tools, >crossfade
Itll bring you to this boxy thing. In ‘target’, input your vowels, romaji and hiragana with commas but no spaces. I dont really mess with the width and start, but you can make it smaller for slow songs and larger for fast songs. Put the volume at around .95 and click ok
It should now sound like this!
Wow, that’s a lot better!
Feel free to mess with the values as much as you want if you want to Spice it up!
I know the ust changes in the last screenshot I accidentally closed the cendrillon tab oof
The UTAULOID art exchange is an exchange for UTAU creators to gain hand made content for their UTAU, and to share their talents with others. In order for this exchange to go through, we will need more than 10 people to sign up.
Please sign up and share with others if you’re interested.

Here’s the full 3rd Anniversary outfit for reference !!
Happy 3rd Anniversary, Samaki! I’m super thankful for all her fans and all the support she and I had received the past year. Please keep cheering us on!
What is UTAU-Bowl?
Do you ever want to learn about more UTAUs without having to slog through wikis and distribution sites?
Have you ever wanted an unbiased criticism of your UTAU?
That’s what UTAU-Bowl is for! UTAU-Bowl is a blog for reviewing UTAU voicebanks. The name “UTAU Bowl” came from wanting a name that was homey, comforting, and easy to say and type.
Any UTAU is fair game, old or new, popular or obscure. Submissions are also accepted! Private UTAUs are only allowed if they are requested by their creator.
I will stay away from a number score (ex. 6/10) and instead write out all my comments about the voicebank in question, going over the recordings, oto, ease of use, flags, resamplers, and any other relevant information. I’ll also review character designs, but this blog is mainly about the voices.
I won’t redistribute download links or give out passwords, but I’ll give a tutorial on how to download the UTAU as well as an official site if they have one.
Hopefully this blog will be a good resource. If you have any other questions, please check the About page.
If you’re in the Vocaloid/UTAU community, please feel free to reblog for support!
Samaki’s Anniversary video is up along with her voicebank downloads ❤❤ please leave a like!
