Was it worth it?
I keep thinking about the Hero Public Safety Commission (HPSC) in my hero academia, alongside overall society in MHA and i have thought of multiple things regarding it.
One major thing I note is the way the HPSC carries out tasks.
Like with Lady Nagant, they had her assassinating those who went against the status quo, being criminals or villains even if they havenāt done anything yet.
This tells me that the HPSC follows a very black white state of morality. There can only be good and bad people, and that people who have bad/evil thoughts and ideas need to be put down immediately.
This also suggests the HPSC has an entire āwe prevent the bad thing before it happens, this erasing the bad thingā, and hence allows me to link to the idea of the HPSC greatly benefiting off of a society that dehumanises both āvillainsā and heroes.
By dehumanising both villains and heroes, the HPSC is able to effectively turn them into full black and white state of morals, where villains or only bad and heroes are only good. Dehumanising both heroes and villains allows the HPSC is carry out the tasks of removing what they believe is evil without the rejection of the public. This is why Twiceās death was so impactful, because it completely shatters the dehumanising appearances that the HPSC has built for both heroes and villains, resulting in a break and an obscene amount of backlash towards the heroes.
This is also why the HPSC benefits from dehumanising heroes. Because by doing so, the public further wonāt question how questionable the tasks the heroes are doing are, as the heroes become a blank state of what is good, so surely everything a hero does is good as well.
This could explain why many heroes obsess over public image or avoid it entirely. Because they are in a sense trained to conform to a base of what is considered āgoodā and āheroicā. (Also could explain why Aizawa sticks to being an underground hero because it ultimately gives him more freedom on how he acts as both a hero and a person).
The act of dehumanising both the heroes and villains makes it easy for the HPSC to both force on a more simple way of morality onto the people, but also makes it easier to gain the peopleās favour.
They provide a simple, clear goal and objective, alongside a clear stance of how the world should be. Only good and heroic people exist, not bad people or villains or even criminals.
It is also why All Might was so important as the symbol of peace. Because he was the ultimate definition of being āpure goodā. He is the upholder of what good and peace is. He is everything the HPSC is advocating for. Peace, and good. When he fell, a major part of what the HPSC advocated for collapsed as well, hence the increase in crime since the very cornerstone of what the black and white society was built on collapsed.
The HPSC also thrived off the idea of good always being greater than evil, that good will always win. This is part of attracting people to support heroes and to convince people to become heroes. Because most people do want to be on the winning side. This is also where All Might plays a strong role because he himself was proof that good always won. Since he never seemed to have lost a fight against the villains, he was living proof of it.
I also believe the HPSC deemed those that were potentially dangerous to society as āevilā and ābadā, which Iāll touch in a later part.
This idea that the HPSC perpetuates of there only being good and bad, also perpetuates the idea of worth being given to people.
This is where quirkless people come in. Now I highly believe the reason quirkless people receive the hate they do isnāt because they are viewed as weak or vulnerable, but because they are viewed as worth less than those with quirks.
seeing Bakugoās interactions with Midoriya, we see that he views Midoriya as worthless, which we can assume is thought of the same for other quirkless people. This is also seen in Tenko Shimura and how his dad treats him, saying that quirkless people need to know their place and all.
This could be caused both by the HPSC and also overall society. As society adjusts to those with quirks, and them becoming the norm, they idea of who can contribute the most to the new system are those with quirks. This also pushes quirkless people down some more, as they are no longer the ideal āworking class citizenā that is required for the world to function. Especially people with quirks that could potentially benefit them in the workplace, quirkless people are less sought for. The HPSCās idea of there only good and bad may also come to people as being worth a lot of being worth very little, as this subconsciously pushes the idea of quirkless people being worth less in their society, alongside the idea that they are deadweight.
This can also be influenced by the importance of heroes in the later years, as since quirkless people canāt even become heroes, it means there is a sense very little they can do to contribute to society (which is not true at all, but likely perpetuated in mha).
I also believe this is where SOME of the hatred for those with mutant quirks comes from. Given the HPSC likely labels anyone who poses a mild threat to the safety and peace of society as a villain, people with mutant quirks are also automatically associated with that. Look at Shoji. He has the strength to crush a human skull.
Assuming many mutant quirk users have enhanced strength and abilities, this may result in hatred towards them because they would be more detrimental to society if they were villains. And since the citizens only really know the idea of good pushing down evil, their only solution is to react violently and push down what they believe is evil too. This is not just about discrimination or putting down those who go against the system, this is about them believing this is the only way to keep the peace and safety of society because the HPSC does it like that. Also could be why strong quirk users have much hate towards them or are treated so greatly, because they are seen as being worth more and more capable.
Iām very sure I had more to say but I lowkey forgotā¦so if anyone actually reads this comment something or your thoughts i just got bored bye bue
DANDYāS WORLD. Random Dandyās World theory.
Itās like a common thing (or I believe fairly common), for people to believe the ichor is toon blood! WHICH I AGREE!
BUT HEAR ME OUT.
The toons are made, or ichor. So when we buy toons and put in that ichor, that ichor is used to make and manufacture the toons.
The more ichor used, the more complex the toons become! Itās why the main characters are so expensive! Because they are so much more complex on a character level, that more ichor needs to be used to manufacture their abilities, personalities and skills.
Also why Shrimpo would be so cheap cause heās pure rage and so one dimensional that the ichor used to manufacture him is so little.
For other toons that need research and everything or mastery and stuff, it could be because the ichor canāt fully encapsulate their personalities. Having the other things like research on the twisteds or mastery on other toons allows them to build up on the characters and develop them into who they are. Like Blot needing mastery of Yatta and Looey before he can be purchased with 3000 ichor because 1 - he works with them, so his character is tightly involved with them and they affect his personality 2- some of their skills also help to key in and manufacture his skills.
ESSENTIALLY MY THEORY IS:
1. Ichor is used to manufacture and make the toons. The more complex the toon, the more expensive they are because the more ichor is needed to manufacture and make up their personalities and skills
2. Some toons needing more than ichor to be bought is because they are either built up on preexisting toons and have similar traits that were solely taken from those toons, or are so closely involved with those other toons their characters are dependent and affected by them
As for Dandy and Dyle and why we canāt buy them other than the fact they are lethals? I got that covered too! Because the other toons exist on them. These other toons that arenāt the lethal toons, like Dandy or Dyle, were made to complement and interact with Dandy and Dyle, who are present, and research can be taken from them. But Dandy and Dyle were made to complement the toon handlers, Arthur and Delilah. TWO PEOPLE WHO ARENāT PRESENT. Due to the fact itās would be impossible to get the research or the traits needed to make and manufacture the Dyle and Dandy, itās essentially impossible to manufacture them or make replicas of them as compared with other toons!
Ok thatās just my theory have fun!
Cannibalism as a metaphor of stuff:
TW: cannibalismā¦Mentions of murder, power imbalances and some other stuff Iāll try to label later.
I dunno this a random ramble, cause I remember the cannibalism as a metaphor for love, and then I saw a post of someone saying cannibalism is a better metaphor for obsession.
So I wonder about what cannibalism can be a metaphor for. These are just my thoughts, I might add to them.
Cannibalism as a metaphor for obsession (TW: For the obvious, cannibalism, murder and harm)
This desire to be so connected with a person you want to be consumed by them. To become part of them and to flow through their blood and literally become part of the energy that keeps them alive, or wanting to consume someone so you could keep them to yourself forever and ever, to have them with you at all times and to have them literally become part of your life source.
While some can see this as describing intense love, I personally see it as obsession. An obsession so intense you want to become one with the person, to consume them and take them apart. It can easily be a selfish act, as it results in the death and destruction of yourself or whom you love for your own gain and happiness.
I personally feel cannibalism (especially if you kill the person before you consume themā¦) as a metaphor for obsession works better. Because love doesnāt necessarily result in the death or destruction of one of the parties, but cannibalism does. Obsession can easily take a negative toll on both people, but especially the one whoās being obsessed over. Cannibalism is hurtful to the one whoās being consumed.
Cannibalism as a metaphor for hunger for power:
TW: Power imbalance, potential abuse/manipulation mentions
The idea of cannibalism to me, also includes consuming others for energy. When you eat someone, your body will digest and absorb any carbohydrates, fats, proteins, nutrients and minerals they provide you. They become a food source, an energy source. But aside from the literal sense of getting energy, you gain power over the people you consume. You force them into their worst positions for you to take advantage of and consume. You gain power physically (your own body being able to make use of the nutrients and substances the other personās body provides), and you also gain power over the individual. You become the stronger one when you corner them to cannibalise them. Youāre the stronger person, youāre the one with power. To take from a person till they are weak and vulnerable and continue to take all value from themā¦
I feel cannibalism does good as a metaphor for hunger of power. to consume people and their āstrengthā, and to gain power over them in the process. You become feared for what youāve done, and that in turn makes you more powerful too.
Cannibalism as a metaphor of sustaining yourself
TW: Bodily harm, self-harm
Auto-cannibalism. Some people think of it as literally taking parts of your limbs off and eating them to survive in a dire situation, but auto cannibalism can also include consuming your own hair or your nails.
People never consider eating themselves unless it is a form of survival. Similarly, some people chew their nails or eat their own hair to soothe their anxiety.
In a way, cannibalism (specifically auto-cannibalism) can be seen as a metaphor of sustaining yourself. Is it a healthy way to sustain yourself? No. But itās a way to sustain yourself and keep going. A character could have an obsession with one day needing to eat parts of their own body because they believe that is the only way they can potentially sustain themself one day. An acceptance to resort to auto-cannibalism to survive can be seen as a desire to sustain oneself even at the lost of parts of yourself as well.
Cannibalism as a metaphor for harmful desires
Tw: self-harm, harm towards others, bullying, assault mentions/implications, death, potential implications of suicide, power imbalances.
Cannibalism is always harmful, and will always cause some form of harm to the party being ācannibalisedā.
So you could also logically say desires to hurt others or do horrible things to others or even yourself could be represented through cannibalism. You gain something through cannibalism, while the other part loses something.
for example, a bully in a story could refer to their victims as āmeatā or a āmealā, because the bullies are literally preying and thriving off harming their victims, gaining more power and satisfaction over the people they bully, while the victims lose confidence and receive physical or mental harm, and potentially lose their lives from the bullying.
An abuser could similarly refer or see their victims as meat or food. The symbolism of cannibalism being shown in them preying and thriving off the suffering of their victims.
āeating someoneā could be loosely seen as eating or thriving off the harm you cause them, or eating at their self confidence or esteem for your own personal gain.
Cannibalism as a metaphor for greed/gluttony
Tw: Single mention of murder
do you ever get so greedy or so gluttonous youāre willing to try anything and everything to chase after more satisfaction? To gain more and more satisfaction and joy to the point you are potentially willing to give a go at consuming someone else to see how it feels?
Cannibalism could be used as such a metaphor, with the craving and desire for more or an endless amount resulting in wanting to consume others around you to gain their material possessions or to keep gaining more and more whether itās in terms of valuables, a body count (murder wise), or just to simply eat more and eat something no animal flesh or plant life can provide you.
I honestly donāt know what Iām writing, I might add more to thisā¦will update.
Hey I have a question, do you still like criminal case?
Unfortunately, not as much. My interest basically vanished after I left the criminal case fandom, so I havenāt been doing any headcanon requests (sorry to all of you with unanswered requestsā¦).
So quick answer: Not really.
The axe, the gun and the knife.
Another ramble. Iām so so late. But in mouthwashing, there are three key items that are used as weapons. The axe, the gun and the knife.
I wanna talk about them.
Trigger warnings for mentions of sexual assault, murder, suicide, bodily harm, cannibalism and also Jimmy.
The axe:
The axe is the emergency weapon (same for the gun).
It is used to resolve the situations and emergencies as much as possible.
However, in all the situations it is used, itās already too late, or something horrible has already happened. Curly using the axe to break Daisuke free from the foam, the issue has already happened, it simply removes it (and itās minor enough to remove at the moment too). The axe being used to hack away more insulation foam by Jimmy to access more medical supplies because they ran out. The axe being used to mercy kill Daisuke to put him out his suffering, and finally, the axe being used to destroy the screen.
The screen itself feels like a highly major moment, the breaking of it as well. It is where the dead pixel is. The axe being used to break it, specifically by Swansea, makes me feel that Swansea in particular has come to the realisation of the true gravity and the true full picture at the moment. But by then, itās already too late.
The axe is whatās used to return things back to normal, or whatās used to uncover and remove things. Be it insulation foam, or the big picture. Except itās all too late, and everything is just an attempt.
The gun
We know Anya wanted the gun to protect herself, and we could say it is a symbol of protection.
But we also know Jimmy got the gun, and ultimately uses it to kill Swansea, the only other authority figure on the Tulpar, and then himself, evading the consequences of his actions.
When protection is given to the aggressor, they are allowed to evade consequences, all at the expense of others.
The protection not being given to Anya made her more vulnerable, likely gave her a harder time reaching out for help. If even the captain of the ship doesnāt seem willing to help her protect herself, who will? The sarcastic mechanic on the ship who tends to get passive aggressive every now and then, or the young intern who shouldnāt even be here? Sheās alone here.
Jimmy grabbing hold of the gun to defend himself from Swansea, someone who he believes he angered because he literally caused Daisukeās demise, is him avoiding the consequences of his actions. The protection allowed him to evade the consequences he would have faced for causing Daisukeās injuries and then death. When he uses it to kill himself, leaving an injured Curly trapped and to be frozen in the cryopod, he escapes the consequences of assaulting Anya and crashing the ship.
The knife
When we see and use the knife, it is used to cut the cake as celebration for Curlyās birthday, but is also the mark for the time the crew learns of the horrible news that they are all getting fired.
In the end, Jimmy uses the knife to cut off part of Curlyās leg to eat it. It is also after all other members have died.
The knife is the marking of the end of something. It marks the end of the hope and their job at first, as well as the growth of tensions in the tulpar, and marks the beginning of the end, the eventual fall of Curly.
It then marks the deaths of everyone in the Tulpar, the fact Jimmy got his way in his end, and marks the beginning of one of the many selfish acts Jimmy has carried out.
Eating Curlyās leg, PUTTING MORE MEAT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER TULPAR MEMBERS WHO ARE ALREADY DEAD, and force feeding Curly; all to maintain a delusion and see himself as a hero.
In the end, I feel all these items had a lot going for them, and Iād love to talk more about my theories, might be updated
[updated]
As somebody in multiple fandoms, I wanna talk about CRK, specifically eternal sugar cookie and the child or toy imagery we see when playing the game.
When we enter her domain, we see a lot of references to childrenās toys. The roomy poly, the merry go round, the slides. Everything is in pastel and everything seems childlike.
It could be a reference to how to the idea of eternal happiness is childish, that it is not actually possible and is only the figment of imagination in a childās world. Especially since childhood is temporary. That eternal happiness is nowhere near possible, but Eternal Sugar Cookie is surrounding herself with that delusion. Itās also the way her domain so overly bright, as if only focusing on happiness and the brightness of everything. Happiness is bright and everything, but the way Sternal Sugarās domain is so overly bright is almost overwhelming and sickening. Her eternal happiness and her delusions can become suffocating and overbearing (not just cause of the overly bright colours but also cause some people find children overbearing and the childish dreams they have unrealistic and annoying)
I also like to note the fact she flies. While I am likely over looking it, it could be a reference to how down to earth she is. She doesnāt acknowledge hardship and only focuses on eternal happiness and joy, she is deluding herself and not even touching the ground that other cookies retread in, meaning she does not truly understand what they need or want. She gives them what she believes would grant them eternal happiness in her paradise, but it either doesnāt truly satisfy the,, or it comes at a great cost, typically the latter it seems (Sugarfly getting pretty wings but losing her ability to fly as long as she stays in paradise, Hollyberry losing her soul jam and her shieldā¦). She does not truly understand what they need because she is not even at the same level at them. She oversees everything and sees what they need or want, but she doesnāt understand the true need or what the need or wants stem from, she only cares about giving the final result rather than focusing on the process in general.
The childlike imagery could also represent her deluding herself. We know most children are clingy and stubborn, clinging to onto what they love because it is all they know. The childlike imagery represents the way she clings so desperately onto her happiness because it is all she knows. It stems from innocence and genuine kindness, but the innocence looks grim and ominous, disgusting even when it is covered with sweets and sugar.
I also like the way she is specifically called eternal sugar. In a way, her own name is a reference the unbecoming. Sugar, while sweet, when overdone, becomes disgusting. It burns your throat and leaves your mouth dry and sticky and uncomfortable. Her drive to provide happiness and the way she is so fascinated and involved is what sets all the red flags. The excessive care she applies to ensure the happiness she believes is true is what makes Hollyberry and the others see that something is wrong. Her obsession and need to preserve what she believes is happiness drives her to manipulate, and causes Hollyberry to leave.
Additionally, I think her design having angel and devil imagery is amazing too. You cannot enjoy the taste of heaven without the taste of hell. In her case, she provides both of that. With her white knight manipulation, specifically with that one cookie who she caused to get attacked before ārescuing ā them, she provides the taste of āhellā to draw them into āheavenā, or her paradise. She is both the angel and the devil, leading people to danger and using that danger to āguideā/lure them into her paradise like an angel. She is a devil for leading them to danger and an angel for bringing them to safety, paradise. The angel motifs are more recognisable, because most cookies only see the good deeds and the protection she provides, rather than the damage she causes to provide this protection. Also I donāt think she has shoes. That could be a reference to the fact she flies so she doesnāt need them, and also cause shoes serve as protection. If there is nothing dangerous in the garden, then you would not even need shoes to prevent you from stepping on anything right? It is paradise in itself. The slight apple imagery too, the way in the opening scene she is holding the apple. Apples can technically represent knowledge, cause the fruit of knowledge from the bible is mostly portrayed as an apple. The way she is holding it suggests the way she is purposely concealing aspects of the truth away from others. Specifically,a snake is holding onto the fruit and it is wrapped around her arm. A snake tempted Eve to eat the fruit, and in eternal sugar, the snake is wrapped around her. She is what tempts people to eat the fruit and taste bitterness to encourage the, to stay in her paradise. She provides the temptation and the knowledge, and she uses it to keep people with her.
And even her domain in itself is full of little aspects here and there.
The streams are grape Soda rather than water. While other beasts have the water in their domain being different, here specifically sticks out to me.. grape Soda is sweet, grape is a fan favourite flavour but it is typically the most artificial, the chemical taste is noticeable but it is enjoyable. It could be reference to how her domain may provide happiness, but deep down, are you truly happy? There is suffering from the excessive consumption and indulgence, the rotting teethā¦the teeth imagery in general, where you cannot speak up about what makes you feel bad because you are enamoured by this happiness an the overload of sugar.the way her castle itself has a beating heart, her very heart and soul lies in maintaining this paradise and providing happiness, her heart beats just to provide paradise and happiness.
Oh and also the fish. They are being carried. But fish are born to swim, and being carried removes one of their main āpurposesā. They evolved to survive and swim in water, yet they are being carried. Could potentially say that the grape streams are bad for them, or that this happiness Eternal Sugar provides literally removes the passion and purpose someone used to have (cause the entire sloth thingā¦)
Someone in the comments pointed out the body horror, and I realised I failed to mention that. So first of all, shoutout to that person who talked about it, thank you so much for saying it, i completely forgot. Second of all, the body horror involving the little tooth fairies or something, literally decaying but still drinking the grape soda water is saying something about Eternal Sugarās domain too. The happiness she provides is doing more harm than good in some cases. It is sugary sweet and only focuses on the bright side without seeing the side effects of danger, and it males it dangerous. Similarly for Sugar Fly cookie, she lost her ability to fly and her wings were potentially perm and damaged after breaking free from the syrup. The happiness Eternal Sugarās granted caused more harm than good. When youāre blinded by happiness and optimism, you fail to see the bits of danger that lurks and you risk wandering it into more. Similarly, Hollyberry losing her shield could reference to both the loss of passion and also safety and protection. So blinded by happiness and this chance to indulge, you risk decaying and rotting away at yourself too.
Eternal sugar is so beautiful in so many ways, I adore her. I might add to this if I can, but I donāt know.
Iām hereā¦to talk about The Amazing Digital Circus. This is all what I personally think, please donāt come after me.
Specifically, the scene where Jax is describing himself and stuff under the stars in that one scene, and bim in a maid dress, and my thoughts of it (dunno if this is the right place to ramble but sure)
I personally believe it is a symbol of Jax not being comfortable with his masculinity and being highly insecure about his masculinity and how he presents himself too. I also believe he potentially suffers from toxic masculinity.
Starting with when heās talking to Pomni.
āThis is what peak male performance looks likeā āMy ears and tails are kind of a pinnacle of masculinityā
I feel this is a mixture of him āboastingā while also trying to convince himself.
Itās also the way he specifically talks about this after kinda opening up about how he feels about Ragatha, a moment where he was likely highly vulnerable. Yet one of the first things he dies after putting Ragatha down (āso sheās dumb and she looks weirdā) is to talk about how masculine he is. Part of me sees this as a sign of him associating vulnerability with being less masculine, more feminine. The way he immediately says he looks masculine and describes his appearance as kinda the pinnacle of masculinity makes me think heās insecure of it.
He acknowledges his appearance likely isnāt the most masculine, in our modern day and age purple and pink are still seen ans feminine, and rabbits could be seen as feminine (causeā¦smallā¦prey animalsā¦)
Part of this already speaks out to me of him trying to reassure himself as masculine, while also trying to come off to Pomni that heās masculine.
Now, the maid dress.
He looks insanely upset the moment heās in the maid dress.
But itās his reaction to evil Zooble and Jax
Evil Zooble- āLetās see what youāre made ofā
Jax: āS-Shut up!ā
Evil Jax: āD-Donāt worry. I think you look goodā
Jax: āI DONāT WANNA HEAR THAT! I WANT YOU, DEAD!ā
āLetās see what youāre made ofā could potentially come off as derogatory to some men, as if belittling them and suggesting to see if theyāre truly a man, and can mean to find out how capable, brave or strong someone is, things all associated with stereotypical masculinity. Also, instead of just shrugging it off or playing along, he actually responds negatively. āS-Shut up!ā He doesnāt like it, he isnāt seeing this as a game, and he genuinely feels upset about this thing (understandableā¦But also given the way he usually is with NPCsā¦)
His reaction alone suggests heās not only highly embarrassed, but insecure. The way he reacts suggests hems highly agitated, and Iām certain that itād mostly fuelled by the fact heās in the maid dress. If he was confident in it, heād still willingly go out and play baseball.
But not only does he not, he purposely loses so he can go into the timeout, as if to avoid being seen like this.
While he does get over it, I feel his reactions could suggest that heās insecure about his masculinity or whatnot, or his appearance in general.
It might also he why heās so cruel. Being cruel makes you seem less vulnerable, and being vulnerable can be associated with not being masculine.
And also why heās a trickster and everything. In stereotypes, some men are portrayed as less mature or conniving. Itās like heās trying to play into this display.
But thatās what I felt in general.
Boom. Vesper in my style letās go.
TW: Death, electrocution
This guy. Vesper, as I like to call him. I have headcanons for him. I feel like heās an electric eel, due to the fact his tail is relatively slim and whatnot- And it was the first thing I noticed when I saw him-
I like to think that his death is related to electrocution of sorts, with my two main theories being:
⢠an electrical appliance dropped into a pool/bathtub when he was inside
⢠he fell into an tank of electric eels, got shocked, and suffered respiratory/heart failure and died.
I feel that when he was alive, he was just as jumpy and jittery as he is now, talking with a slight stammer sometimes, but when he is set on something, he does very well. He doesnāt question or argue with people he knows are stronger than him, as he is not willing to risk himself over small matters (even if said matters are not that small). Heās a compliant and timid person- And it is followed him to the afterlife. He is not easily manipulated, and can usually see through most things. What he isnāt good at however, is refusing peopleās requests. I like to think Vox both manipulated and guilt-tripped Vesper into selling his soul, and Vesper fell for it because he felt guilty, and actually believed Vox. Heās now just stuck in a shitty situation and he blames himself for it. Note, these are just my theories if he is a sinner.
Either way, I really hope he appears in season 2 of hazbin hotel and is given an actual name- But for now, Iāll refer to him as Vesper and ship him with a random OC i made thank you and goodbye.
Look at my babyyyyy-
Theyāre so adorableeeeee-
Iām naming them Vesper.
I jumped onto the bandwagon recently and kind of got interested in Hazbin Hotel. And I love Vox and everything, but can we talk about his assistant?
THEYāRE ADORABLE I SWEAR TO GOD-
THEY HAVE A TAIL- THEYāRE SO ADORABLE-
