Things I wish somebody had told me in the beginning: witch edition
This is not a competition. Take it slow, enjoy the journey. You do not need to learn every crystal correspondence within a week.
Keep a journal/Grimoire/Book of Shadows if possible. Fill it up as you go. Do not just put the information somewhere to wait until you “have time” or “have more energy” (although these, and many more, are understandable reasons). It is less work to do a little all the time than try to catch up all at once.
You don’t need to be anything to be a witch. You are one, regardless of your gender, skin color, religious interests… If you think you’re one, you are. Witchcraft is a path, a tool, not a religion.
Wicca and witchcraft are not the same.
It is totally okay to take breaks. Setting aside your craft doesn’t mean you can’t come back and continue where you left off.
YOU are the most important tool. You do not need that expensive cauldron, or those rare herbs that have a double-digit price. Of course, supplies are needed for more complicated/powerful spells to help you out, but they are not necessary.
If your path changes, that is okay! If you were first interested in spells but then decided to focus more on deities and their worship, that’s okay!
On that note, it’s also okay to not know what your path is.
Like all people, witches have their opinions about various things. Listen carefully to both sides, research, but in the end make your own opinion that fits with your morals and worldview. Neither side is necessarily wrong, but both can be true.
Trust your gut/intuition. It knows a lot. If someone says X has Y correspondences, but in your opinion has Z, then this is true to you.
When researching things, remember to be critical and not trust everything you read blindly. Cross-reference.
Educate yourself on closed religions, slur words, racist symbols, appropriation of cultures and their words (see:smudging, chakra…) Do not be angry at yourself if you have used them before - you are always learning and growing as a person.
When in doubt, ask. The community is friendly and many are more than happy to help you. Asking never hurts, but don’t treat others as your Google.
Do not abandon science nor common sense. Witchcraft is powerful, and certain areas have direct influence (using herbs, for example), but it does not replace healthcare, therapy, or otherwise being healthy.
Practice safety. There is a reason why people tell you in rituals/spells/etc. to do things to protect yourself. When doing witchcraft, you are dealing with great powers and energy - sometimes that might be malicious.
Also, some general things like fire safety, checking for crystal toxicities in various substances, and herb properties are important to keep track of - these are physical things that can seriously harm you; and definitely work. Do not doubt that.
Do not lose yourself. While witchcraft gives us great power, it sometimes makes us lose ourselves. One might become so absorbed in their path that they forget things like eating, checking on friends, doing hobbies, and so forth. This path is part of your life, but your life does not consist only of the path.
Have fun! I believe this is one of the most important things. Witchcraft does not need to be serious; it can be Legos, glitter, pop-culture gods, sigils doodled with eyeliner… The possibilities are limitless!
This is hella good everyone read it
Some great advice here.
Simple Spell for making people feel loved
I use this is for friends, family members, significant others, etc. that are having a rough time and just need to know they’re loved and cared for.Â
 🔮Materials:
 - CandleÂ
- paperÂ
- cinnamonÂ
- fire-safe tin/jar/container
 - pencil
 🔮To do:
 - light your candleÂ
- write the name of the person you want to feel loved on your small piece of paper (preferably first and last so it for sure goes to that person)Â
-dip your paper in the flame so it starts burning and drop it in your jar (try not to burn yourself!)Â
 - while it burns chant (change pronouns as necessary): “With this I ask of all my might to let her know I love her day and night. May these flames bring the ashes to the skies and may it let them be sparks in her eyes Please let her know that I do care, let her know that I am there. Please never let her be alone, and let my love become her own.”Â
-after all of the paper is burned sprinkle a bit of cinnamon over the ashes for extra love and protection.Â
 - to make this work faster sprinkle ashes over the soil but this is not required.

Bonding With Each Element
Earth
Taking a walk in a park or forest
Planting
Picking flowers (though, not from other people’s gardens, of course)
Grounding, meditating, etc.
-The key is to surround yourself with nature, whether it be sounds of nature, or even getting into kitchen magic, which will involve herbs.
Air
Taking a stroll on a breezy day
Sitting in front of a fan (as an alternative to the above)
Anything creative (Dancing, singing, etc)
Divination (Smoke of an incense, crystal ball, taro/cartomancy, etc)
-The wind element is about expressing and realizing your creativity and talent. By doing this, you are bonding with the element.
Fire
Meditation with a lit candle
Drinking a cup of freshly brewed hot tea or coffee (don’t burn your mouth, now)
Activity that involves breaking a sweat (exercise, etc)
-Fire is about passion and anger, whether releasing that anger so it does not build up inside of you, or invoking a passion you have for something. This intensity will help you bond with the element.
Water
Taking a long shower or bath
Making Sun or Moon Water
Collecting Rain/Snow/Storm/Sea Water
Dream Magick: making peaceful sleep satchets, etc
-Water is about purification, love, and psychic awareness. Cleansing yourself daily, charging water for a specific use, and healing will help you bond with this element.
Found this on Pinterest. I don’t know who the owner is, but this is amazing!!!

Some things you can add to your tea, as a witch
🍓 Berries - There’s nothing like a hot cup of camomile tea with a few fresh blueberries. Blueberries = Protection // Raspberries = Protection & Love // Strawberries = Love & Luck // Blackberries = Protection, Healing & Money
🍯 Honey - Adds that extra bit of sweetness and honey is great for love and binding. Green tea with a little honey would be the perfect start for a self-love spell or ritual.
🥛 Milk - I like to use almond milk. Almonds are great for fertility, money and luck spells. It also taste really good! I find taste best in black tea.
🍋 Lemon - Tastes great in green tea. Lemon is great for purifying and cleansing in spells and rituals. Would be an awesome tea to enjoy next time you do a cleansing meditation for your chakras.
🎄 Cinnamon - This one makes me think of winter and Yule but it taste so good. Especially when you pair it with a little bit of honey. Cinnamon is most commonly used in witchcraft related to healing, love, money and happiness.
🌿 Peppermint - It’s an acquired taste, for sure, but it’s very yummy in most teas and can help relieve nausea, gas and stomach cramps.Â
🥄 Ginger - Another that’s an acquired taste. It’ll definitely add a zing to your tea but it can help with flu symptoms and nausea. Used in witchcraft to help “speed things up” or “add passion” to spells.
The rainy season is upon us! Time to gather some rain water! 🌦

Sacred Places (Water)
These are places that could be considered sacred for someone who focuses on the element of Water in their craft.
Places In Nature
Hot Springs - Natural pools of energy, boiling up from deep in the earth. Warm, relaxing, and full of healing.Â
The River - Always changing, full of strength. Powerful enough to carve through stone, gentle enough to dip your toes in.
The Ocean - Mysterious and welcoming, deep enough to hold your darkest secrets, and never let the light see them.
The Lake - Simple and homely, teeming with life. A place of forgiveness and rebirth.
Urban Places
Concrete Waterways - Found in almost every park, a place of refuge and shelter.
Water Parks - Full of laughter, fun, and families, all fueled by the power of water.
Hot Tubs - A man-made tribute to the power of hot springs, a place of relaxation and health.
Wells - Pulls wealth and prosperity from deep in the earth, homely and safe.
Two pieces for next week’s jewelry release nearly done. The skull didn’t quite turn out how I envisioned, but I kind of like the rugged look. Both pieces are labradorite and opal.
