Subaru took a moment to only gape at the other boy, taking in the fact that he had somehow gotten lucky enough to get roomed with Natsume of all people. He’d expected being roomed with a stranger, but to think his precious first year friend ended up here! Of course, the fact that he ended up at this magical academy was no surprise, but he didn’t think they’d end up being this close with each other. Knowing Natsume, he’d want to avoid himself as much as possible.

He laughs now, scratching his head in embarrassment. He nods his head in apology for the noise, and runs to throw his arms around the magician.

“Natsumeeeeee~! I missed you! It’s great that we’re roomies~ Now we can bond as much as we want to make up for our second year!”

He shakes his head, obviously full of disdain. Fate certainly had in it for him, hadn’t they...? Even if he would gradually have to accept that Subaru was his roommate, and get used to it. The other was clingy, overbearing, too bright... fitting of someone who was like the sun itself. But one thing he detested about the star: he was far too affectionate. Despite disliking being on the receiving end, he gave his love as he pleased. Natsume wasn’t the best with affection given to him, and preferred to not be touched if possible. With Subaru, however, that wasn’t happening. 

He had expected the other to glomp him, blow him a kiss, whatever, something to show his affection. Subaru had changed from when they were first years, which had surprised Natsume, who was accustomed to the two being outcasts in their class. But when he walked through the doors of 2-A, he was found to be alone, once again... But there’s no time to dwell on the past. It was unnecessary. Focusing on the present situation at hand, he immediately becomes alerted at how the other was moving to hug him, presumably. That was not going to happen. 

Standing up from his seat, he thrusts his knee into his roommate’s stomach, though obviously holding back some strength. He casted a quick spell to empathizeon his feelings.

It was an interesting turn of events, to say the least. Not surprising, however. The moment the Headmistress had announced another “test”, there was something bound to happen that was out of the ordinary. That being said, however, going to a magic school was something already out of the category that others would put as “normal”, in Natsume’s world at least.

Frankly, Natsume would prefer to work alone, even with something useless as a weapon. He obviously couldn’t do much with these slippers, no no... but it was far better than actually conversing and working with someone. Others would comment on him being hard to deal with, hard to work with... he guessed the other would be the same, thus slowing him down.

But Natsume is the leader after all. He wouldn’t have to follow orders, and sit like a dog. Luck was on his side today, and working with one teammate was better than working with two. He turned to the other, a smirk growing on his face, as Natsume looked at his so-called teammate with interest. Seeing as it was someone he was rather unfamiliar with, maybe he could find another observation subject.

“It looks like we are teammates this time, hmm? I go by the name of Natsume Sakasaki. Let us skip the formalities, to get this challenge done as soon as possible. My... weapons are these fluffy bunny slippers. I do hope yours is more use than mine.”

Rare days when his innate drive to upkeep routine gets lenient do exist, as Elsword is only human. So tonight, instead of heading to the training hall to slash away at practice dummies after finishing homework, he instead wanders around the magical forest surrounding the academy, letting his mind drift in the cold air amidst all the stars. Some of the alien wildlife and vegetation offset him initially in the walk, but the knight soon finds the atmosphere to be very, almost disarmingly calming.

Seeing the night come alive, Natsume felt it was time for a stroll. He found the whole foundation of the academy intriguing, as well as how it was literally in space. How could he not get curious? Especially at a magic academy of all places, something he had dreamed of for ages. He could meet those who he could respect, those who could teach him the wonders of magic, as he delves in further into his studies... It’s like his life was written like a fairy-tale, perhaps this could be his happy ending...? 

A joke, of course. He had not any time to be thinking about such foolish and childish things. Making mental notes of the space, he observed and analyzed his surroundings carefully. It was quiet and peaceful, which meant there would be no hindrances to his research. Yes, with that bug not here, everything would just be fine and dandy... Or so he thought.

Natsume grimaced at the other. Though they were a new face, Natsume distinctly remembered seeing someone other than himself with red hair, before he had moved classes... This was the one. His name was... Elsword? Something like that. He couldn’t bother to remember the names of individuals who wouldn’t prove to be of use to him in the future. 

“No thank yoU. I have come here fully knowing the dangERS, and I can handle myself quite weLL, mind yoU.”

wataru-nii-san ;

One minute he was studying his summoning ( as diligent as ever, Wataru toiled to perfect his newfound abilities like everything else within his power ), and the next an oh so familiar bundle of red and white was bounding to his side.

Sporting his usual grin, Wataru turns to face Natsume, sweeping the child up into the air by grasping him beneath the shoulders, swinging him around delightedly – much like how a father entertains his young children. When he finally sets him down, the fool takes a moment to look him over like a mother bird inspecting her baby chick, making sure he really was all okay from the travel here before moving onwards with the situation.

“My dear little Natsume! I’m glad you seem to have made it here in one piece. You must be thrilled, yes? Yes, you must be! Ah, but yet again our dear good boy has been spirited off to a land of darkness and danger… You never do learn, do you, Natsume?”

He extends a warm hand to comb through the boy’s hair, now smiling softly as he does. He really is glad Natsume is here, but considering these school’s rules… Well, was magic worth the cost? Eichi once said “Maybe we should have been satisfied with a small taste of happiness.” to Tsumugi on that fateful stage so long ago…

Wataru had to wonder if he should feel the same. After all those years of being regarded as more than human, it would be grand to spend their lives peacefully, pleasantly, and, as Tomoya would say, normally.

However, that was not the path they were afforded with. Once again, these Oddballs would simply have to wage war yet again – survive, thrive.

“Now then… Will you not tell your big brother where your dorm is? I shall show you mine, and Kanata’s too. So that we may reach each other come what may.”

He was startled by the other suddenly picking up, but of course, it was to be expected of him. Just this once, he would let the other pick him up like this. Though as much as Natsume did indeed dislike being treated like a child, he did have a bit of fun, allowing laughter to escape from him. Natsume could only sigh as the other inspected him, for some things just never change... No matter how many times he said to not see him as a kid, the other oddballs still doted on him, not heeding his words.

“IndeeD, I am simply ecstaTIC. That to be coming from yoU, Wataru-nii-saN, is quite the catCH. For yoU, along with the others still treat me as if I am a toddLER, with no knowledge on how to walk on my own two feeT.”

He pouts when the other touches his hair. Though it’s not a bad feeling, he was a bit angry nonetheless. This was short-lived, for he could never actually stay mad at his precious brother. Natsume peered curiously at the other, wondering, and wondering, as he became lost in thought... Ah, he analyzed someone again. He should really try to stop that habit of his. 

The red and white haired child immediately jumped, eager to explore the academy once again, but brightened at the fact that even Kanata was here as well. “Of courSE! Kanata-nii-san is heRE, and you met him alreaDY? I’m always behiND, aren’t I? IndeeD... Shall we gO?”

Subaru had always imagined doing the grandest, most fun things in life. He even believed he could truly reach out to the stars and join them as the brightest one. And, well, he technically joined the stars, alright. Just not in a way he expected.. at all.

Being transported here was definitely a wild ride for him. He was confused (who wouldn’t be when one day you’d just up and get pulled by whatever entity out there) and awestruck. He thought he was dreaming, but a few pinches and slaps said so otherwise. Though he just went along with it, not freaking out too much and simply figuring out what was going on.

Of course, thanks to the letter in his pocket, he knew exactly where he was now. But really, a magical academy? He certainly felt different, like some new power was granted to him, but he didn’t understand why he was chosen to go this academy. He lets out a sigh. He hopes his Mama isn’t too worried…

Well, no use standing around being sad. With a huff and a confident smile, he makes his way to the dorm written on his letter; 702. He hums and fast-walks his way there, not bothering to even knock on the door. He unlocks the door and slips in, introducing himself a little too loudly.

“Yahoo~ Your sparkling star, Akehoshi Subaru, has arrived!” He grins and laughs, but suddenly realizes who the gaping boy across the room was.

“Wait a minute, Natsume?!”

He had been notified that he had recently gotten a new roommate, dreading the event from the start. Natsume had been planning to push the desks, closets, the bunk beds, whatever he could to block the door, so he could block them from coming in. He had cherished his times alone, and had wanted it to stay that way. But, of course, things would’ve taken a turn.

He slightly jumps at the flashy, yet loud entry, not caring to glance at his new roommate. But all of a sudden, memory lane comes back. He hears the other’s voice, and he spins around in his chair to only gape. What? How? Natsume was surprised, to say the least. The cheeto man was all too familiar, or should he say, the star boy.

Regaining his composure, he coughed into his hand. Well... at least it wasn’t Tsumugi. Subaru was a far better choice than that guy, it even hurt him mentally and physically to even utter the other’s name. Crossing his legs while in his chair, he massages his temples. This was too much for one day.

“ReLAX, Baru-kuN. You’re far too excitable in the awakening of morniNG. Most of us are trying to reST, or prepare for the upcoming daY. I suppose that may be too much for your brain to comprehEND.”

“Natsume Sakasaki.” A new student ( another subject ). Though for now, they’re still only a mere mongrel until Gilgamesh finds that they’ve truly expressed themselves and only then will he reevaluate their worth. Whether that moment is now or some other time, he can’t tell. Yet still, it is moment he looks forward to as it has become something of a game where he determines which students of his are worth his time.

The student under scrutiny is, strangely, still present in the classroom. Odd as it is, they aren’t being much of a hindrance yet so Gilgamesh isn’t really bothered by it (then again, they’re aren’t really doing anything interesting by just sitting there). He, of course, briefly addresses the mongrel while sparing them a look of disinterest.

“I, the king, am sure you’re aware that class is over. Make yourself entertaining or at least useful if you plan to stay but if you plan to be a waste of space, then you’re presence isn’t necessary for I, the king.”

Natsume was a bit tired, so he decided to stay in class for a little bit longer, even though everyone had already left -- Except for the professor, that is. He figured since there was enough time before lunch began, he could relax, even if it was just for a little bit. The racket in the lunchroom is far the ideal place for ‘peace and quiet’, he’d much rather stay here.

His two cats then appeared, and he gently petted them. If it weren’t for their being here, he couldn’t have completely been at ease, even if in a world of his dreams. But of course, every Professor would be bothered as to why a student would be staying in, especially during lunch. Wouldn’t they prefer to be free, on their break? Which was why Natsume wasn’t startled when the other called out to him... Though not in the manner of which he expected. 

For he had forgotten that Professor Gilgamesh had always spoken in the matter as if the class was his kingdom. Natsume supposed he’d play along

“Oh mY, if it isn’t Professor GilgameSH. You require me to be entertainiNG, if I am correCT...? You say entertainiNG, but I don’t suppose there is much that a king would be truly amused bY. If you so asK, I can help you with anything you neeD...?”
