swiked okay so here’s my theory about the dress: I’m not an expert on photo editing, but I edited the picture of the dress (right) so that the photo was much dimmer. I assume what happened is the camera focused on the background light (which is why it appears to be glowing) rather than on the dress, so the white light kind of washed it out. That would explain why some people see it as white and gold, but black and blue is a different matter. I think some people’s eyes just absorb less light, but I’m no eye expert either. I haven’t tried but I think you could test it by taking a picture of something of a single color in a very brightly lit area (such as in front of a light bulb) and it would probably look white to some people due to their eyes absorbing the light rather than the color, and the other color to others due to absorbing the color rather than the light.
