I want to thank all of you for the wonderful stories with him, the great adventures, and the family bonding. The opportunity you gave me with him was a privilege. I would not have been able to do anything with the mystic monk of a robot if not for the amazing RP you gave him.
May whoever takes the next rebuild of Magma Man have as much fun with their incarnation of him as I did with this one. May peace follow you, and hilarity ensue.
Jupiter sneered, Prescience. A ranged fighterâs most obnoxious enemy. Heâd have to increase his rate of fire â the easiest way to do that would be close quarters combat. Jupiterâs thrusters opened up, and closing the gap between himself and his opponent was effortless.
With a crack of air, Jupiter was suddenly in Magmaâs face, a rocket-propelled knee aimed for the monkâs stomach, arms back and chest thrust out as he put everything into a single attack. Jupiterâs attacks revolved around this; all of his strength went into one strike at a time, meant to crumple defenses.
It seemed Magmaâs efforts for a peaceful resolution had fallen on deaf ears, as well. Jupiter was completely silent, save for the rush of wind that accompanied him.
Magma had barely silently sent out a rebounding com transmission back to the light bots in the seconds after evading the initial blast, concentrating more on the sensory data around him. The world around him shifted as momentum of incredible power came towards him. His processes shifted entirely to reaction and energy as his fighting stance sprang into a crane position springing up a few feet in the air. A knee with the driving force of several freight trains came under him as he kicked out running entirely on the impending sensory data and trained instinctive reaction.
The milliseconds slowed down to shutter-speed as Magmaâs processors adapted to the speed. His lucky kick landed squarely on a solid chest-plate, the momentum of which sprang Magma back a few dozen feet through the air, and damaged his foot and ankle enough to shatter some of the inner steel structure.
The dexterous little Monk slammed a fist to his own chest as he spun in rebound of the kick on the lightening fast attacker, his armour node generated teleportation of his armour from his hotel suite blocks away. The scarlet blur activated both busters, a short humm as he landed, firing a full salvo of three magma bazooka blasts each side at the nimble green attacker. His stance staggered though, as his injured foot was only partially reinforced by the boot of his armour.
Jupiter was quick to react to the sudden change in fighting style, a spent battery blasting out of an ejection port on his lightning gun, instantly replaced with another. Three short blasts made quick work of the salvo fired at him, turning into debris and smoke that clouded the air.
Jupiterâs thrusters blasted back online and hurled him forward, powering through the smoke and fire to come at Magma low and fast, nailing him in the chest with a clawed hand. Sharp talons tore through his newly armored form like butter, picking Magma up and carrying him down the road as his turbines screamed through airspace. Magma was knocked off his feet and dragged long the ground, his armor making ungodly noises as it was carried across the concrete, bits of it broken off as they flew. Not having hands anymore meant Magma simply couldnât fight back.
And Jupiterâs grip released, letting Magma soar through the air just a few inches above the ground, before his heavy body collided with another office building and left a Magma-sized hole in the wall.
A rough moment of flailing and increasing damage drives the little light bot into a rage "FIRE AND STONE" He spits out as his back armour is worn away by the high speed grating over so many metres, damage building on either side of him, before crashing head first through a thickly reinforced building wall.
As Magma lays sprawled, he attempts to lift his arms and legs, to get back up. None of his limbs save his right arm seemed to respond, but it was buried in rubble, and only capable of a twitch. His emotional processors quieted, the rage of moments previous faded to a dull sense of serenity. The light of the late afternoon was brighter just then. He thinks in nanoseconds, ironically pondering the course laid by the Universe. He activates one of his only remaining systems; communications, and rattled out all his dysfunctional circuits could piece together on every channel available to him.
>Friends, Bots Light, with PEACE going you, thanking you... All of love, peace, full life. Revenge me do not.
A great shadow fell upon him then, and the light became dim. Hoarsely he calls out again, one last attempt "PEACE..."

The surface of Earth was a decidedly boring place. The Earthlings werenât particularly talented at anything, but they were far from being simple barbarians or cave dwellers. They werenât very attractive, either, but they werenât repulsive. His first visit to the source of much of Sunstarâs grief had been incredibly underwhelming; it was just a bland, inoffensive planet without much to offer beyond the task that lay before him.
âŠWell, that wasnât entirely true. It had conveniently high perches that kept Jupiter out of sight of most of the city he as camped in, despite being right in the middle of it. The talons of his armor were buried in the side of a skyscraper, holding him in place while the visor of his helmet scanned for signs of his target. Heâd been given a very specific one in this sprawling metallic landscape, and wasnât interested in âaccidentalâ casualties. So heâd have until thisâŠMagma ManâŠwas out in the open before loading a round into his arm-mounted rifle.
Jupiterâs visor came up, a soft breeze rolling over the exposed parts of his face. Well, soft by Jovian standards. He did admire one thing about Earth: the weather was certainly pleasant. Having a stable weather system would make his job all the easier. The planet was a jewel of a place; it as the civilization borne from it that seemed dull. Fortunately, his boredom was alleviated soon enough, his target stepping out onto a barely occupied sidewalk and walking slowly. He might as well have been wearing a target.
A flash of lightning lit up the daytime sky, a bolt careening from empty air and striking a nearby office building. The lightning dissipated harmlessly, the storm come and passed before anyone could blink. Jupiter loaded his gun, took aim, and fired.
A more concentrated bolt of lightning rocketed towards his mark. It didnât matter where exactly the weapon landed; a single blast was strong enough to vaporize most things on contact. Heâd gotten in the habit of aiming for torsos, against everything he ever learned as a sniper.
Magma happily strolled after such a nice day, his robes feeling the easy breeze and waving slightly around him in the calm evening air. The empty sidewalk felt good beneath his sandals as he walked, he had just finished whistling the Bride of Figaro, and shifted into a favourite, the Barber of Seville.
With a sudden shift as though the world went dark, something felt wrong, his extended senses screamed at him of a hostile disturbance in his chi coming. And with the grace of some of the most adaptable software produced by man, Magma Man shifted his steady walking pace to a pivoted leap left into the street. He was stretching his body in the air, in a many times practiced fighting leap, as a concentrated amber bolt sizzled in the place his chest had been about to occupy and slammed into the sidewalk, leaving a smoking crater the size of the small bots body. He landed in a left leading fighting stance, his arms out wide and high, looking upwards, to the source of the hostility. There seemed to be a being of unusual energy high up on one of the many office buildings of the business district on the edge of downtown.
He looked up at the threat, hidden in the distance and called out at the loudest yell he could muster, in the hopes he would be heard by this hostile presence "PEACE!"
The teacup had a rose on it. It was fine ivory white glossed with simple red and pink roses on the side of the cup. The tea was a splendid Earl Grey. Magma took another sip, admiring the cup again.
Magma put down his coffee cup and patted the dainty hand of the elder sitting across from him. "Mrs Jones," Magma responded, looking into her wise yet dim eyes through her great big reading glasses. "Mr Schmitty has been an exemplary employer, and most reasonable with any scheduling based around my own needs."
Mrs Jones looked to him and squeezed his hand again "Well, just make sure you get to spend time with people. You know a young man your age should have someone, should find love."
Magma processed this information carefully and smiled back "But Mrs Jones, I have the love of family and friends. Why I'll share with you my triumph, in the last year I have reconnected with all of my siblings, and built a relationship with my father. I have made many new friends, and gotten to know old ones," He reminisced fondly, "Why just this week I had cookies with a neighbour, and taught Kung Fu to my siblings. And lets not forget, I was able to have tea with you today," Magma happily made his point as his elderly friend listened.
"As for romantic love, one does not desire what the universe does not see fit to give," Magma thought out loud. "Though perhaps in life to come, my path will be shared with another."
Mrs Jones sipped her tea and looked up and down at Magma "Well that sounds lovely. You know deary, all that really matters is that you truly experience life." She patted his hand again. "Speaking of experience, mine is telling me its getting to be about the time of day I need a lay down. Thank you Matthew for coming to tea, I so love our visits.Â
Magma stood and hugged the elder, giving a departing note "I always experience life when we visit, Mrs Jones. I look forward to our next weekly tea." Magma Man headed out her front door, and down into the early evening city air.
His red faded robes swished through the light breeze as he walked down the calm street, reflecting on all the recent joy he had been able to experience, from Kung Fu in the park, to lunch with Oil and Spring. He had bee reflective the entire day in fact, right from leaving for his mid day meditation in the park, and it ran his software to a very happy state.
As he always did, Magma whistled a happy tune as he walked down the street, and it quickly turned into an orchestral rendition of the The Marriage of Figaro, by Mozart. The passing ice cream truck driver sadly drove into a parked car upon noting the distraction.
Magma walked through several stretches with his siblings as he continued, watching them move. His loose fitting monastic robes, though worn and in terrible nead fo replacement, still moved with him easily as he walked into a simple stretching form. âNow there are many forms of kung fu, and other quite wonderful martial arts. Like most, mine is a defensive art, and more specifically, it is about redirecting the energy of ones opponent, and ones self, much like the circuits within us.â He watched his siblings as he moved on. âThanks to our adaptive programming, we can learn the physical principles quickly, though the philosophy and understanding takes much more. Please move with me through these basic positions and techniques as I speak,â He instructed as he began flowing the stretching forms into a few basic blocks, throws, and stances.
Ice had quickly caught the thumbs up and grinned at his older brother. He also caught the stern look on Rollâs face and sheepishly grinned at her. One thing Ice knew for sure that was that they were going to have to spar outside because a messy house generally equals an unhappy sister bot.
Ice focused his attention back on Magma and started copying what his younger brother was doing. He became absorbed in trying to learn the basic forms that Magma was showing, trying to match exactly what he was doing. He had such a look of concentration that he had his cheeks puffed out slightly.
Cut shirked away slightly at the sight of a stern Roll. He valued his life too much to even consider sparring indoors. He had created enough holes inside the house. Roll was a sweet big sister worth protecting, but sometimes she was downright scary! At least lunch turned out so well for the two.
As the smaller Lightbots followed along with Magma, Cut mentally reassured himself the mental training would be easy. Flexible and upbeat, the scissorbot was too confident for his own good.
What his younger brother was explaining seemed to click with things he heard before. He began to recall all the best scenes of his favorite movies. Sure, heâs had to watch the likes of Tony Jaa through fingers but he also remembered how swift his heroes were. The idea of redirecting someoneâs strength would always spark interest, especially since Cut wasnât the biggest or strongest.
Looks like the kidbots got her message. Roll nodded in satisfaction, although she made a mental note to move the breakable objects to safer locations when they get back homeâŠ
Roll followed after Magmaâs movements, awkward as it felt for her. She wasnât designed for combat or any strenuous activity, after all. And it sure felt weird without her broomâŠ
âBone-breaking?â Roll repeated after Cut. âI sure hope not!â She sounded worried.
Magma shook his head at his brother "No Cut, mostly because it would be humans who have the bones and we do not want to be getting into that sort of predicament. However if you are fighting a stronger robot in earnest , you would need to elminate the threat posed by their weapons, limbs or mobility, and there are strikes and movements designed to do that within this style." The sun cooked down on the four light bots as they stood in that bright green park.
Magma looked at Ice and roll as they finished the last stance change, in the basic defensive form. Magma gave a spirited smile as he commented "All of you are picking this up quickly, much like when I taught Galaxy. Let me teach you some basic strikes to practice with me now and that will round out today's lesson. Next week we will talk about the philosophy of energy transfer and try some advanced techniques, like the wind sweep. Now try this open handed strike, and kick combination." He smiled to his sister as be began demonstrating a two step combination bringing forth both hands "Roll, you will be happy to note that you could use a two handed weapon for this same strike, such a sword, or a steel broom.
Magma laughed again before calling the cat âSusie, you are not going to get out of that spot very easily, you might as well let our friend let you out. It will be less jarring than me shaking the ground to pop you out.â The cat let out a low moan and stopped flailing, clearly unimpressed.
He opened his hand indicating to Saturn âIf you would care to, please go ahead.â The fact that he still had a spoon sitting on his nose only added to the ridiculous nature of the conversation.
Saturn took one more gulp of the chocolate milk before he approached the cupboard the cat was trapped in. Well, she had gotten herself into quite a predicament indeed! The Stardroid crossed his arms, finger tapping his chin as he studied the situation and started thinking of a way to get her unstuck.
Itâd be so easy to just stop time and use the Black Hole, however, Saturn didnât feel like expending too much energy today. He didnât feel like heâd completely recovered from Limbo yet.
Instead, Saturn reached out and gently held the cat by the torso. âEasy, easyâŠâ he said to the cat. âJust hold stillâŠâ
Pulling her out straight from the cupboard didnât sound like a good idea and Saturn was completely aware that he could easily break her spine, despite his lanky frame. His eyes darted to the side at Magmaâs direction, peeking to see if he was watching too closely. Saturn would have to be subtle about this.
There was a slight distortion around the space where the rest of the catâs body was trapped. Saturn then pretended to ease her out of the cupboard with a couple of gentle twisting motions with his hands, when he couldâve just pulled her out of it as easily as picking her up from the floor. He got her out in no time, and no doubt the cat would be puzzled over what had happened.
Before the cat became hostile to him or anything, Saturn handed her to Magma. âHere.â
Magma watched the acts and stepped back, feeling the distortion in energy in the room, the chi in the room just broke off and warped for a moment. He accepted the cat and looked the little man up and down, unsurprised. "And again I say to you, you have the carriage of one well travelled friend." He ate another cookie, and then said. "I've seen someone move chi, but never quite like that. Well done." And with that, Magma stood and bowed. "If you'll excuse me though, I have a meeting in the park to go to."
Magma chuckled âDid you hear him Susie?â The cat let out a yowl and flailed in her upside down position, arms and paws flying as the fat cat shook and shook in the cupboard. Clearly she had bitten off more than she could chew.
âŠThat scene looked adorably funny, even if some might disagree with him in regards to animal cruelty. However did that cat get herself into that awkward position, though, Saturn doesnât know.
âAll right. I think she really needs help.â Saturn said, about to get up from his seat. âWould she let me though?â
Magma laughed again before calling the cat "Susie, you are not going to get out of that spot very easily, you might as well let our friend let you out. It will be less jarring than me shaking the ground to pop you out." The cat let out a low moan and stopped flailing, clearly unimpressed.
He opened his hand indicating to Saturn "If you would care to, please go ahead." The fact that he still had a spoon sitting on his nose only added to the ridiculous nature of the conversation.
Magma nodded thoughtfully, shifting in his seat, the spoon still on his nose. âThat is good. Perhaps we should all still be studying. There is ever more to learn.â Looking back to the cat âWould you like a hand Susieâ
âMrooooooâ Said the cat.
âAlright, if you think youâve got this.â He said to the clutsy tub of fur.
âOf course, lessons donât end in the classroom.â Saturn said, finishing his candy bar and getting another glass of chocolate milk. âYou continue learning even after youâre out of school.â And I STILL have a long way to go, he thought bitterly as he drank. Too much were on his shoulders. How could he ever cope and live up to expectations?
ââŠTell her if she canât get out of there by herself, Iâm pulling her out.â he said, watching Magma and his cat.
Magma chuckled "Did you hear him Susie?" The cat let out a yowl and flailed in her upside down position, arms and paws flying as the fat cat shook and shook in the cupboard. Clearly she had bitten off more than she could chew.
At that question, Saturn took very long to answer. Technically, heâs still a student even though he was officially proclaimed the Saturnian High Priest when the Ring chose him. Heâd requested to continue his studies, even though he was given private tutors. The Ring-Bearer shouldnât be placed among the regular students, as he was told. He heaved a long sigh. âNot really. Iâm still studying.â he replied, idly eating his candy bar.
âI think she missed a step.â The poor cat, even though Saturn didnât move from his chair.
Magma nodded thoughtfully, shifting in his seat, the spoon still on his nose. "That is good. Perhaps we should all still be studying. There is ever more to learn." Looking back to the cat "Would you like a hand Susie"
"Mroooooo" Said the cat.
"Alright, if you think you've got this." He said to the clutsy tub of fur.
âI donât knowâŠâ Saturn trailed off, tapping his chin in thought. âEven if nature went against them due to their own foolish actions, they still doesnât understand the reason why it happened.â He propped his head on the table with one hand and, with a bored wave of his free hand, produced a candy bar seemingly out of thin air. The wrapper tore itself open and Saturn started eating it.
âWise indeed, if only people would take those to heart.â he said. âI canât say I favor one of my mentors. They have their own merits.â
Magma looked at the little fellow as he levitated the cookie âYou know, itâs interesting to find that some cultures of this world were more advanced in understanding and philosophy centuries ago than most of the âmodernâ earth is now.â Magma released the flow of chi he was channeling and pointed towards the cookies âMay I?â
âI find that interesting as well.â Saturn said as he finished the floating cookie off by making it dunk itself into the glass of chocolate milk and then eating it. âThe ancients understood the world better in their time. Yet Iâve read that as technology advanced, they seem to have drifted away from their connection with the natural world.â
âKnowledge has increased, yet the less they understood.â Saturn made the box of cookie float over to Magma. âIronic, isnât it?â
Magma smiled and accepted the box, answering "I wouldn't lose faith in all the people of this world. In some pockets the old wisdom holds strong. I was fortunate enough to find it in my travels." He popped a cookie into his mouth. "My teacher, Brother White, he told me once 'where there wisdom, is hope.' Wise words."
He looked to the other "But then again, I am biased towards my mentor. Do you find the same with yours?"
âDonât worry Cut, Iâll be sure to get you!â Ice laughed. Of course they werenât going to harm each other, it would only be a fun little spar. That didnât stop Ice from making a competition out of it though.
Ice proceeded to walk over to the clear area where Magma had motioned and turned to intently listen to him. As Magma was doing the small motion with his arms, Ice brought his own up and copied Magma slowly. He also had the stare of awe and wonder in his face as Magma told the group about monastery that he had learned his kung fu from.
When Magma had asked his question, Ice nodded. âYes, I understand!â
Cut blinked twice and quickly glanced over to his other siblings before looking at Magma with a guilty grin. âItâs not like Iâd ever hurt Rock, you know that. I just like a little fun spar now and then.â He snuck a confident thumbs up to Ice, implying their completion was still on.
He followed them out into the grass area, still pumped to practice. Mimicking Magmaâs stretching movements proved easy for the slim and nimble boy. The monkâs story sounded like something out of one of the many movies Cut watched through the years and it brought a shimmer to his eyes. Honor, protection and a love for peace were all things a Lightbot must hold close.
âI read ya loud and clear, Mags. Almost all the best kung fu heroes just want to do good!â Unless it was getting revenge for the death of a beloved elephant, of course. Or many, many other things⊠At least his sense of justice was still in the right place.
Roll still wasnât sure if she was okay with what Magma assured her. Just look at the state of his clothing! She already wished she had her sewing kit with herâŠBut sheâs no mind reader. âWell, if you ever need something to be patched up, you know where to go.â she said.
Roll followed after them, finding a a good spot where she could hear the lessons. As Magma gave some important reminders, she looked at the two kidbots quite sternly. While she knew they meant no harm, itâs better to be sure that they listen.
Magma walked through several stretches with his siblings as he continued, watching them move. His loose fitting monastic robes, though worn and in terrible nead fo replacement, still moved with him easily as he walked into a simple stretching form. "Now there are many forms of kung fu, and other quite wonderful martial arts. Please move with me through these basic positions and techniques as I speak," He instructed as he began flowing the stretching forms into a few basic blocks, throws, and stances.
Magma smiled as the alien adjusted the spoon and responded âAbsolutely! Though most of this planet is oblivious, those who have worked with the energies at work within the software of the universe, have found amazing things. Do you work with such concepts on your world?â
Saturn proceeded to make the spoon twirl in place a few times before letting it lie balanced on Magmaâs nose. He couldâve made it lie on the tabletop, but it looked funnier. The little Stardroid needed something happy right now.
âOblivious? You can say that again.â Saturn snorted as he took another cookie by making it float from the box and then taking a bite out of it. Heâs playing with his food againâŠ
He then fell silent when he was asked that question. How much should he divulge? âMost of the time.â he said as he took another midair bite.
Magma looked at the little fellow as he levitated the cookie "You know, it's interesting to find that some cultures of this world were more advanced in understanding and philosophy centuries ago than most of the 'modern' earth is now." Magma released the flow of chi he was channeling and pointed towards the cookies "May I?"
Magma giggled âYouâll have to be more specific. I am balancing a spoon, because I enjoy balancing things. Iâm also directing the energy in the room through me, in a positive way.â Magma flicked his fingers and spun the spoon in the air to land on his nose. âHave you ever heard of Feng Shui?â
âOh.â Saturn said before he pointed at the spoon with his index finger. Nice trick though, he had to admit⊠âYou mean like thisâŠ?â He flicked his index finger upward and the spoon stood up right on Magmaâs nose.
âIâve read a few books about them.â Saturn said, remembering what heâd learned about Feng Shui. âItâs redirecting energies to suit your needs, isnât it?â
Magma smiled as the alien adjusted the spoon and responded "Absolutely! Though most of this planet is oblivious, those who have worked with the energies at work within the software of the universe, have found amazing things. Do you work with such concepts on your world?"
âI learned to connect with the chi around us when I was studying with the monks of Kay Nu. What Iâve learned is, when travelling beyond the physical self, sight and sound is very different, as our physical senses do not apply the same. It is all interpretation. I see ones, zeroes, circuits, channels, thrumming fields of power, and some times, some times, I see stone, flowing as liquid, as an endless sea. It all depends on the day.â Magma reached his right hand down, balancing the spoon in the air still on his left, he shifted the energy flow in from the left, and out through the right to direct a gentle conscious channel towards his friend.
Connecting âchiâ? Now thatâs new. Saturn tilt his head to the side, looking curiously at Magma, his initial wariness now gone. Now what he was saying is starting to make some sense. Although some of it still sounded quite iffy. Saturn wasnât sure if it was because they were used to different terms.
âWhat are you doing?â Saturn finally asked, pointing at the spoon. âAre you trying to move it?â Already he was feeling the urge to make the spoon jumpâŠ
Magma giggled "You'll have to be more specific. I am balancing a spoon, because I enjoy balancing things. I'm also directing the energy in the room through me, in a positive way." Magma flicked his fingers and spun the spoon in the air to land on his nose. "Have you ever heard of Feng Shui?"
