âIâd love to make a snarky comment about what youâve just said to me, but Iâm too wet and cold to think of something clever.â He commented, remaining very still in fear that she would actually kick him out if he were to get water near any of the books that were in the store. âIâll take a crappy coffee and a dry shirt if you have one, I have a feeling this one is just going to have me remaining cold if I continue to wear it.â He grumbled, trying to pluck at the thing white cotton, only to grab his skin instead with a small hiss. âPermission to walk slowly through the books?â
âThank goodness for that,â she laughed lightly. Magnolia was in a good mood, but she would probably think twice about letting him in if he shot out snarky comments while she was trying to do her job. âCrappy coffee and dry shirt coming right up,â she announced, watching him struggle with the sopping wet shirt he was wearing. It looked far from comfortable to be in. âPermission granted,â Maggie replied, another smile reaching her lips as she thought about the situation before guiding him along to the back.
Once there she set the coffeemaker on and pulled out a packet of semi-stale biscuits to put out on a plate. Heading over to the uniforms, she found a few freshly cleaned shirts that could fit the young man. Luckily their uniform was black shirt and black pants, so the shirt wouldnât be too out of the ordinary to wear. It was the apron that had the storeâs logo on it. âHere you are,â Maggie said, handing him a few folded t-shirts so he could choose the size that best worked for him. âThereâs a bathroom just through the door over there,â she added, pointing as she spoke. âCoffee will be ready soon.â
