y’all ever think of the fact that both gerold hightower and arthur dayne are guarding TOJ instead of being with aerys or rhaegar bc i do 😭
i am considering the possibility that lyanna might be a greenseer like bran. there’s just so much that doesn’t make sense in the events leading up to TOJ that could be explained by this theory. first of all, it would explain why she went with rhaegar. if lyanna encountered a figure like cersei’s maggie at some point, who told her something about azor ahai / TPWWP, or if rhaegar somewhat brought the ghost of high heart with him to the riverlands when he encountered lyanna. i keep thinking about why… why would lyanna sleep with rhaegar in the first place? and don’t give me that BS that they’re secretly in-love because that makes the least sense of all. that’s more preposterous than this theory, because it discredits both these characters despite the little that we know of them. anyway, only a solid belief in the prophecy could’ve made lyanna do the things she did and have it remain consistent with what we know of her character. she has a really strong moral compass ( see also: KOTLT ) and it just… doesn’t seem right for her to elope and have illicit relations with a married man, when her first concern about robert is his ability to be a loyal husband.
if she was a greenseer though, then it would make more sense??? because at least she was acting on a purpose much bigger than herself, which is… very lyanna, if you ask me. tie it in with rhaegar’s gift for prophecy, and then you have two idiots who interpreted the prophecy all wrong, or perhaps acted without planning properly, but at least you have two idiots who meant well. miss me with that tragic lovers bullshit, tbh. she still would’ve wanted to leave and call it off if she found out about brandon and rickard, but… i don’t think news reached TOJ at all until the battle of the bells, so there’s a good chance she didn’t know until she was already with child.
also, i imagine if lyanna met with the ghost of high heart or a wood’s witch or something, then they would’ve foreseen her death and told her something along the lines of her “having to pay with blood”. which means my lyanna went with rhaegar with the knowledge that she’ll die by the end of it ( though my lyanna lived, so the blood price was rickard and brandon and everyone who died during the rebellion, but she didn’t know that initially ). anyway, i’m ready to be roasted for this #HOTTAKE but also… i stand by what i said that it explains a whole lot.

He was a son of Hades, Lord of the Underworld, keeping someone alive was almost the exact opposite thing of what he was good at, and this frantic thought somehow made him look even paler.

I thought you were a year-rounder?” He protested–but no, that wasn’t right, she just lived in the city–and he shook his head, dismissing the frustrated thought as he leaned over the prone child of Aphrodite before looking up at Drew. drew scoffs. something about being thought of as a year-rounder rankled at her nerves. “what would you know about year-rounders? you were barely at camp.” it wasn’t exactly true. drew remembers a time when nico was indeed at camp, but he might as well have not been. he was always alone, could barely be approached ( not that she ever tried ) and then he went away and only showed up from time to time. whenever he did, drew had learned to expect some dire news or other tagging along with him.
“i live in brooklyn,” she grits out, compelled for some reason to clarify that she has a life outside of long island. it doesn’t matter much right now, however, not with her sibling lying unresponsive on the ground. wherever else drew tries to carve out a place for herself, her family is here, loathe as she is to admit it. still slightly panicked, she leans down to feel valentina’s pulse and finds it rapidly fluttering against her fingertips. “she’s going into shock,” drew looks up at nico, eyes wide. “i’m gonna prop her up. flask in my bag still has some nectar left.” said bag is discarded a few feet away, a muted pink color with its various contents spilling out around it.
it won’t be enough to save valentina, but it might buy her enough time until they find more help.
