Layne Staley's parents Nancy and Phil announced at the tribute show that the proceeds will benefit a mobile treatment center for those facing opioid addiction.
It was nice to see them both on stage!
NEW(ish) image!!!
Bruce Fairweather, Andy Wood, and Stone Gossard with music exec Michael Goldstone.
SOURCE.
Stoney is reportedly 6'1" so comparing the heights, Andy's guesstimated height of 5'7" doesn't seem out of place here.
Also, new pic!
The Official 2024 Layne Staley Tribute poster. This year it falls on August 24. Weekend events start on Layne’s birthday, August 22nd at the Seattle Center Fountain. Details can be found on our website.

Promoting Seattle/Metal Rock Music and Honoring Our Legends
Gonna be there for all three events this year!
Google Maps image, October 2012, Fremont, Seattle.
I believe this to be Jeff and Stoney standing in the doorway of Studio Litho in October of 2012, watching the Google Earth photographer go past. I've included pics of both of them from 2012 for reference.
This is our history.
Lacking the viaduct, it took me a bit to remember where I'd seen that building before.
Screaming Trees in c. 1996, on 1st Street S, in front of the Triangle Pub. Photo by Karen Mason-Blair.
Same corner, Sept of 2022, photo from Google maps.
I will be down there to get pics for you myself in a few days.
This is our history.
I just started putting away the kitchen wares, this is on the window in the kitchen.
I think I belong here.
It took me a very long time to get here, but I am sitting in front of my new apartment in Green lake Seattle.
Which one of y’all did this??
This is Matt F*cking Cattron and he is absolutely terrified of the crows that I feed outside every day.
Soundgarden, circa 1987: “Soundgarden in the lily pads at Seattle’s arboretum park for an early (1987?) promo shoot. It took forever to convince guitarist Kim Thayil (far right) to wade out. It looks like he’s enjoying it but he actually griped the whole time!”
- photographer Charles Peterson
Confirmed, it is the arboretum and not green lake!
Happy Birthday, Frisbee!
We will always love you.
i had to do a little research for this image to find out the color of his hat n stuff but eventually said “oh fuck it” because andy is golden in my head and radiates the color i associate with life - which for me is gold. not money gold like standing in the shade on a fall morning and the air around you feeling totally frigid and then stepping out from under the tree and into the sun and feeling a thin layer of frost melt off the skin of your face. that’s him, to me. warmth in the cold and happiness after devastation and hope for the hopeless. like the sun. idk. hashtag cringe or whatever, you get it. | i fucking DARE you to click this
Wizwoe makes beautiful art! I really need to see this and to read their words about Andy.
You Got A Kiss For Me, It Hits Me Hard...
~secret messages from gasworks to the barefoot magpie, August 2022
People in the comments being all bitter. As if the arts aren’t out here giving you a reprieve from all the shit y'all go through. As if the arts aren’t out here making sure you live a little bit instead of just surviving.
OH TRUE
Feeling this so much right now, as the darkest days when everything stopped WAS when music came and held me back up. Music, and friends I've met through music.
