“You’d think somebody would’ve found a way to keep those damn things from dying,” Regulus smiled softly, habitually pulling out his own phone to check the battery. It was the one thing he had that his parents disliked- no matter how much they hated muggle technology, he had to admit that now he wouldn’t want to go anywhere without it. It was like a new appendage, sort of like his wand and watch. They just couldn’t understand and that was why he hid it from them; but everyone nowadays had twitter or instagram or vine- he wasn’t doing anything too terrible. “Wait, what’s snapchat?” He had to ask. He’d been slow to catch onto the new app trends, and he had to admit he was curious.Â
"I guess that’s technically what the chargers are for, but yeah, I’m surprised no       one has come up with a charm to keep them fully charged without those.”Â
Charms isn’t her strong suit, and Marlene’s gotten a little too reliant on her phone to risk fizzling it out now by having a go at that herself. His question surprises her, in a different way from the surprise Marlene had felt at hearing him reply to her self-directed babble earlier. Snapchat has been such a big thing lately in her own circle of friends that she simply assumes everyone is using it.
“Snapchat? Oh, it’s like . . . a photo sharing app, I guess? You can send photos or     videos to your contacts for ten seconds or something, and then it vanishes so they     can’t view it anymore. Most people just use it to send stupid selfies, really.”
