Summary post about Yamazaki Plagiarism

Since I got 7 asks regarding this topic and I don‘t want to repeat myself multiple times, I decided it would be clever to do one summary post. Before I start this though, I have to say I don’t speak Thai and regarding the issue are only a few English translations. I try not to spread any misleading information, but if I do please do correct me.

I also have to say Yongguk or any of the people involved in the Yamazaki production didn’t speak up about it yet and all the information is from fans and the other artist.

There is this artist called Cyanide and on 8th February she uploaded a music video which is basically an identical copy of Yamazaki. It’s not a purpose at this point. The scenes of the MV are similar, the lyrics are similar and even the music/beat is copied. If you want to convince yourself, watch it here. Of course it could be coincidence, but a really really huge one. I also talked about this with @zainbap and it’s really difficult to say if it’s plagiarism or not.

Weirdly enough they accused Yongguk of copying them?? When Yongguk’s MV was released on 4th July 2017 and theirs on 8th February 2019?? A man with over 100 copy righted songs copying an unknown Thai girl?? Alright.

The producer of the “fake MV” called WayG also left his comments towards Yongguk fans speaking up about it.

In the end I think it’s clever not to jump guns. Maybe they will take the MV down after seeing the reaction of BABYs or Yongguk will speak up on his website.

Edit: BABYs are trying hard to contact Yongguk on his website and tell him about the issue, since YAMAZAKI is copy righted by Yongguk and to quote the original MV “The MV shall not be used for commercial purposes and shall not be copied, distributed or reproduced. Any violation of this warning will be liable under the copyright law.”
