I sent the ask about the broken Port Mafia drama cd link. Thank you for responding. For some reason the link is redirecting me to support.google help center, and telling me to clear my cache and cookies. Perhaps this is a problem on my part? If so, sorry for the bother.
sorry for the late reply! yeah, it does indeed say that for me as well at first, but after i've fixed it it doesn't seem to be the case. i checked on multiple browsers and it works fine. if you still have the issue you might want to clear your chace, particularly for tumblr and/or google docs? thanks for letting me know 💕
Hello. I noticed that the google docs link to the translation of the Bungou Stray Dogs Port Mafia Onsen Drama CD is not working. Did you remove your translation?
Hey anon! I definitely didn't delete it so I was surprised to hear that. I tried to fix the link on the post for the time being but if it still doesn't work do you mind telling me what you see? I'm not sure what's wrong with it as it works alright for me. Thanks for letting me know!
Here we go, the follow up to Furachi na kodomo-tachi…! Enjoy. :)
Thanks to Rei for the translation, and for Yagi for the proof and QC… I had fun working on these two! (…And Bokuto with his hair down, who knew…!)
I will go back to my stack of outstanding chapters now… eek.
For the Haikyuu!! maniacs in the team, and especially for our translator Rei who is having a tough time at Uni… hope this cheers you up! Thanks to everyone in the team for their hard work on this one.
Hmm… this was me being self-indulgent rather than working on the things I should be. Thank you to my dear friend for the translation, and Yagi for the QC.

A ring that Chuuya wears under his left glove.
the person who first noticed it was, of course, Kouyou. she didn't say anything, nor did she ask for details, she knows better than to pry on unnecessary subjects.
she did, however, ask him about it one time when he was on a drunken rampage (for the trillionth time) in a bar. and when she did, Chuuya became silent, stood up seemingly sober, then walked to the door, only to let a random noise distract him and put him in a bad mood (as if he wasn't already) moments later. such the topic dropped right away.
Dazai had given it to him, exactly one day before he left the port mafia. he gave it to him not personally, Chuuya had been on a trip to take care of enemies overseas at that time, but he simply put it in his room, along with a sheet of paper with the words "thank you" in it.
they had hated each other, at least that's what they perceived each other's feeling to be. yet it was their constant bickering that made dazai sometimes seem more human-like, rather than a cold-hearted criminal or some suicide-loving happy-go-lucky bastard he seems to have become over the years.
despite all the hate though, they had trust. they had trust, unlike any other partners you've ever seen.
they had their trust for each other. sometimes not by consent, but by that gut feeling Chuuya feel in his stomach, by that voice in Chuuya's head whispering, trying to tell Chuuya it's okay to entirely trust him.
on the day that dazai left, he opened his most expensive wine, in celebration.
because he had hated him.
because he had been right all along.
because he can finally proof that that voice was wrong.
that night, drunk from the wine, when he got home he saw that card and the ring on his bedside table, and,
whether it was a spur of the moment,
whether it was a sudden impulse, he didn't know,
but he took the card on his table -- instinctively knows that it was from dazai from the lack of proper introduction and explanation yet hesitated in believing it due to the contents of the message being absolutely impossible to be written by dazai, -- crumpled it into a ball and threw it in the trash can, simply because it deserved to be there.
he took off his jet-black gloves and wore the golden ring on his left middle finger.
and then it was off to bed, as usual.
after dazai had left, he did fine on his own. he did exceptionally great, actually.
and, it took longer for him, but so did dazai.
they had been two people who were the most fearsome duo in the underground,
but it's not as if they can't do well on their own. after all, it was only because they compliment each other's strength so much that they got teamed up together. nothing else. as one would see it, it was a mere coincidence.
even after a few weeks, he can't seem to quite grasp the meaning behind the ring that dazai gave him. not that dazai was an easy person to understand, to begin with, but still. he didn't get why would he gave him that. he didn't get why didn't he give it to the sweet lady they met in the pub a few days before that, either. he didn't get it, but he still kept it. and that's what bewilders his mind the most.
does he not want dazai to leave? of course not. he was insufferable. he had to take responsibility to all of the missions that they did, because mr.executive that has been assigned as his partner over here, cannot survive a single week, without getting poisoned by some random mushroom or having a new set of bandages on his body, god-knows how he got it. dazai not being in the port mafia has done more good to him than bad. he wouldn't have to worry about having his weakness exploited by the person sitting next to him every single day of the year, and no one will see through each and every word of his anymore. damn if he knew he actually wished that dazai would leave.
and yet the ring still lingers below his glove, clinking with the wine glass through the fabric, giving a weird sensation as if trying to make him conscious of it's presence.
"Dazai..." Chuuya whispers softly, squatting down beside the bed where Dazai lies asleep, with the blanket sliding off his left hand, showing the poorly applied bandages not covering the brown slit marks he has on his wrist. he stares at it painfully.
Chuuya thought that, after Dazai left, maybe he finally found something worth living for. maybe his life wasn't that bad for him. maybe after a while, he'd gradually stop hurting himself.
but those marks just were there, fresher than he'd like to see, and it was apparent that it's constantly increasing in number. he closed his eyes and took a deep breath before sighing and resting his forehead on the edge of the bed. "please, stop... doing that."
and then there was silence.
30 seconds, 2 minutes, and then after that, a voice. ― "doing what?", Dazai said ー the voice who spoke those words was unusually soft, unusually dark, and painfully sad. Chuuya could feel Dazai's hand touching his head, threading his fingers through his silky orange hair, tucking a lock behind his ear.
and then there was silence once again.
A pang of bitter sadness ran trough him, he knew that voice at all too well and he hated himself for disregarding it so many times. he gritted his teeth and took a sharp breath before raising his head in anger and lashing out "stop... doing this."
"THIS- this, nonsense about suicide you keep spouting on and on about!" he paused to stand up and look at Dazai's figure, his brown eyes detached from it's light, staring blankly at his right hand hanging on the side of the bed. "you think this is some kind of joke to you? you think this is funny? the hell with that?! I-" Chuuya knew that if he continued his sentence, tears would begin to spill from his eyes, so he drew in a long, shaky breath and lowered his head. "is this not enough for you?"
"―you are no longer in the darkness. you have comrades that care about you, you saved lives before, you've had a normal life, far from what a mafia member can afford to even dream about. you've had happiness. and yet you still think all of it is pointless?" with that he lifted his head again and he found Dazai also looking his way. He can see his face, dark, silent, and for once, not putting up that insufferable smile of his.
"are you that much of a coward?" he added with a bitter smile. suddenly Dazai showed an expression Chuuya had never seen before. it was a mix of shock, hurt, and... something else. it was hard to pinpoint what he felt when he heard that, but soon after he chuckled and moved from his position to face the ceiling. he covered his face with his hand and sighed, face still showing a pained smile."I’m scared, Chuuya."
"of what?"
"of... losing everything that's precious to me."
all that I want to obtain will be lost the moment I obtain them. "my subordinates, my friends. of losing my right to live normally, to help people, to walk among them. I’m afraid of losing my mind out of sheer guilt. guilt that has been consuming me without fail each and every dayー" he trailed off and Chuuya saw that partner of his visibly weaker than ever before. 'No Longer Human, my ass' he thought. this man, laying down on the bed in front of him, ―covering his eyes and face with a bandaged hand, wearing a wrinkled, dirty light blue shirt, with a cracked voice, pain obviously seeping from each syllable and each pause,― This man, right here, is without a doubt, human. and nothing, not even himself, can take that away from him.
"They're not going to leave you," Chuuya said finally, breaking the silence between them.Dazai stopped smiling and showed a flash of anger "how would you know that, Chuuya?""how can you be so sure? I’m incapable of protecting them against the danger they are in. I’m incapable of protecting them from themselves. there's no guarantee that they're not dead already, there's no guarantee that they won't die tomorrow or the day after. there's no guarantee that they―" Dazai stopped mid-sentence to adjust his position, he moved both his hands to his sides and lifted his body up so he could sit, only to lower his face and stare at his bandaged wrists. "...I’m a coward" he spoke under his breath, eyes starting to build up tears. he pressed his left pinky finger, with hands visibly shaking, turning the tip into bloodless pale.
"Yeah, you are." Chuuya scoffed as he approached the bed and sat in front of him. he lifted Dazai's chin up with his fingers and pierced directly into Dazai's dark brown eyes, reflecting the light so beautifully, just barely holding back from crying. "so stop being one then." Dazai’s face once again showed a sad expression
"It's not that easy..." he answered, looking away from Chuuya's sapphire blue eyes. Chuuya then lifted his arms and held Dazai's face to face him. "Yes, It's that easy. you just need to stop being such an idiot and realize the happiness right in front of you. fucking--" Chuuya stopped to arrange his sentence, he closed his eyes and breaths in before continuing " ― ’death is the only thing guaranteed' my ass. who needs guarantees? if you're dead you'll end up bringing sadness to all those people around you. you'll end up making them think that they're the ones at fault when it's just you who's being an insufferable idiot. you said dead people shouldn't become a nuisance to others then why don’t you realize that your own death is a nuisance to them?" at this Chuuya stopped his long speech and lowered his head for a moment taking a shaky breath. then he looks up, finally unable to hold the tears back from flowing down
"―letting them know that you're there, isn't that enough reason for you to live on?"
Dazai stared at Chuuya with a face of disbelief. he then chuckles with tears wetting his cheeks and for once, for once, it was a genuine laugh. Chuuya couldn't believe his own eyes, he sighed and slumped his shoulders, can't help but feel relieved seeing the sight in front of him.
“I suppose," Dazai said, head slowly moving back looking at the ceiling. "that wouldn’t be so bad" he smiled and closed his eyes.
It wasn't the end of everything. Dazai knew that. He knew he would still have those nightmares haunting him. He would still feel the crushing guilt that he tried so desperately to ignore. He would still read his favorite book about suicide every other day. He would still toy around with the idea of double suicide with a beautiful lady. but, it was a step. it was a step into accepting the fleeting world around him. into accepting his insecurities, his flaws, and everyone else's. and that wasn't so bad.
"and..." he added, facing Chuuya's direction but still not looking into his eyes. "and I suppose I can find another reason to live" he held Chuuya's hand, awkwardly, hesitance obvious in his gesture. He didn't grip it tightly, he just held it, seemingly unable to muster up the energy into his grip.
"Nee, Chuuya,
if I died, would it be a nuisance to you?"
"what's in it to you whether I care or not?"
Dazai lowered his gaze, "...why are you still here?"
"even though I left you. even though I broke your trust so, so many times, why are you still here?"
Chuuya sighed once again at the sight of this idiot sitting in front of him. it finally paid off, he thought, realizing he can't help but feeling a bit triumphant brushing the wet of tears on the bedsheet. sometimes he wonders how a human being this awkward, this inept to emotions, this weak, once used to be Port Mafia's youngest Executive in history.
"why do you think?" Chuuya gripped back Dazai's hand and leaned forward to his shoulders. then he realized the tears from earlier might be not only Dazai's but his own as well.
"Don't you fucking dare try to kill yourself again, you fuck," he said in an almost silent voice. and he only heard a small 'yeah' in response. Dazai placed his free hand on Chuuya's back and began stroking it slowly, occasionally brushing the long strands of his hair. “I guess living my life knowing that you love me wouldn't be too bad."
Chuuya chuckled at that statement, wonde― wait, what.
He pulled back and shoved Dazai's shoulders away from him, he can feel the blood rushing to his face and 'I swear to god I want to freaking die what the fuck―' "who said that?!" he saw Dazai making an obviously faked and horribly exaggerated confused face. his voice was no longer cracked or weak. instead, it was back to the insufferable, infinitely annoying Dazai that he always knew. "Eehhh?? was I wrong?? I was pretty sure that was the case though~ wasn't it, Chuuya?" Chuuya stood up with the blush still apparent on his pale skin. he took the empty cup of tea from the nightstand and paced himself to the door. after closing the door with a little bit too much force than necessary, he shouted "DON'T GET SO COCKY, YOU BANDAGE-WASTING BASTARD!" before slumping right then and there, putting the cup beside him and bowing his head down, covering it with his hands. a few minutes later Chuuya can hear the other person sitting on the other side of the door. he raised his head and looked back, feeling a range of emotions causing him to show an indescribable expression that was embarrassment, anger, and disbelief mixed together. he crossed his legs together in front of him and held both his knee, resting his head against the door."Chuuya," Dazai finally spoke, with his voice soft, barely audible. "what?" he responded, pretending to not hear the rapid beating of his heart.
"Thank you,
for giving me a reason to live."
