- Towards the end, Mello didn’t have a lot of good days. He started drinking a lot when there was a stalemate in the case. He would get blackout drunk and angry as all hell. He had a habit of saying horrible things to Matt that he didn’t mean, which caused a lot of arguments.
- Matt eventually realized how hard the case was on Mello, after walking in on the blond during a complete mental breakdown.
- Mello wasn’t happy about this and screamed at Matt, demanding that he leave the apartment and not come back. He started making this demand more often, before he eventually resorted to pulling his gun on Matt.
- Matt refused before he went off on Mello. He realized Mello started acting this way because he was starting to realize how the case was going to turn out, and wanted Matt to be out of the picture
- Mello would still get drunk, but not as bad
- Mello would always share his theories with Matt and ask him about plans, making sure he was okay with them. He stopped doing this with Matt when he realized what would undoubtedly happen
- Mello started closing himself off and pulling away from Matt, only fully informing him of the plan a few days before and saying he’d do it by himself
- Matt and Mello got into a huge argument hours before the final plan and Mello claiming he didn’t love Matt
- Matt stormed off, but reappeared for the plan, despite Mello’s demands
- Matt kissed Mello right before they parted ways the last time
- “I fucking hate you Mail Jeevas. You and everything you stand for.”
- “I love you too, Mells. Last one in Hell wins.”
