Got Hirogaru Sky. It's fine. It's not my favorite (Smile) but it's far from my trio of least favorites (Dokidoki, Healin' Good, and Delicious Party). I like the cast and individual episodes well enough but I have some major gripes with the writing. I probably wouldn't immediately recommend it to someone but I woudn't try to dissuade anyone from watching it either. Definitely worth a watch at least if you'e unsure whether or not to do so.

I got Twinkle. Probably my second favorite as a character from her season though designwise she's definitely my favorite. I love Towa, but I'm not big on her Cure form. Kirara though? I love her both as a civilian and as a Cure.

OhI love her. She has my 3rd favorite design amongst the 4 Cures this season, but as a character I enjoy her. She's the serious type but at the same time she can be goofy in her own right. I absloutely love her and I look forward to seeing what's done with her in the future.

Saw you mentioned you'd watched Guilty Pafait recently. I have it downloaded but I haven't watched it because I've heard it's a darker take on things and I'm not sure I'm ready for that. Could you maybe share your thoughts on it with minimal spoilers?

Guilty Parfait has some kinda fucked up stuff in it, but frankly nothing that is more fucked up than what the Stomachs are doing in Gavv. It’s maybe a bit more visceral in its presentation for reasons, but I wouldn’t call it a “darker take”, and it’s not on the level of like Amazons or even the Kamen Rider Rogue specials in wha you end up having to look at.

If anything, “Invaders from the House of Snacks” is darker and more fucked up than “Gulty Parfait”, but is genuinely one of my favorite movies among the Heisei/Reiwa lineup and frankly if you enjoyed Gavv, both movies are worth watching.

Oh! I watched Candy House Invaders/Invaders from the House of Snacks without issue so if you're saying Guilty Parfait is less dark than it then I can definitely watch that without issue. Will have to carved out the time to do so...

Guilty Parfait is significantly less dark than what the main villain of Candy House was doing. Like by a long shot.

Theres still a fucked up aspect to it, but again it’s not more fucked up than anything the Stomachs were doing.

I hope you find the time to watch it and that you enjoy it! Hanto is still a pathetic wet cat in it, but the give him a good handful of moments where he gets to be really cool and he deserves that.

Just finished watching it and, yeah, it's good. Was a little confused at first on where it stood on the timeline and why it was focusing on Hanto but after some quick Googling I realized I was mixing it up with Kamen Rider Vram: Route Stomach which I also haven't seen.

Still, as an epilogue of sorts to the main show I found it pretty solid. As a redemption of sorts for Lizel it's a little weak. Didn't realize she wasn't meant to be an adult whilst watching the main show so her being called a kid/lumped in with that group of kids definitely recontexualizes things. I still don't feel particularly bad for her though when her and gher dad were plotting to kidnap and eat people but I guess Kamen Rider's gonna be imperfect in some ways. Don't see what Hanto had to feel guilty for but I guess it works (but not really) for the story they wanted to tell.

Not sure I'll watch Route Stomach but as a final story for Gavv (?) this works.

I wouldn't even say he stops being evil so much as he gets outplayed/out eviled by others. Like he's still evil but compared to otherss he's playground bully/baby level evil.

See, I consider him no longer evil, because I think of evil as m ore motivation/actions instead of personality. He's still got the personality of Skeletor, but his motivations and the direction of his actions are generally in service of Helping, and he'll be Skeletor about it and make up a reason that it's a self-centered act, but his primary goal seems too be "Would this make Poppy happy?" so I don't really think of him as Evil as much as A Shithead (Affectionate).

Mm. That's fair! I haven't really watched most of his post series appearances, only really seen the post series movie trilogy and his appearance in Zi-O (Which. It's Zi-O. For as much as I enjoyed it it was a trainwreck so...) so I felt like he was still kind of evil there, even if the post movie trilogy sort of redeemed him in the end. I probably should've caught up with his lore before saying anything though.

Better in Black Thoughts - Full Book

I'm not going to go into detail but I read the rest of the stories over the last few days and it's peak I fear. While there's a lot I could criticize, even the stories about couples I don't care about were good. While you can argue that they weren't exactly love stories, I would still say they were stories about love if that makes sense. The Time of Two is a story about familial love for example and I enjoyed it even as someone who doesn't like Clary or Jace. Still, the marketing was somewhat misleading. Saying that "the connecting thread between the stories is the theme of romance and love" and that "each story will focus on one or more couples" when the reality is that each story does focus on love but it's not necessarily romanctic love. I think also that it would've been better to say it features one or more couples since really the only 4 out of 10 actually focus on the couple: Who the Wolf Loves, A Surfeit of Annas, Bred in the Bone, and City of Broken Hearts. Personally, I didn't really have any expectations beyond that we'd get cute moments with the different couples and, yeah, we got that for the most part.

I've seen people saying certain characters were OOC and...I don't see it. Will is the same guy who ran away from home and spent like six years trying to push people away. I think him wishing away his memories is absolutely in character. Especially since, like, he's not that much older than he was during TID. And Julian kissing Thule!Emma? I don't know why we're acting like the dude who has being intelligent and manipulative as a character trait and who actively surpressed his emotions wouldn't kiss Thule!Emma to keep up a charade. Sorry not sorry but that shit is absolutely the sort of thing he'd do in my opinion. You could maybe him going to the club in the first place was OOC but I feel like the story did a good job of explaining that as well.

As far as the stories themselves go, I think Who the Wolf Loves, The Time of Two, and Too Wise to Love are probably the best written of the bunch. That's not to say they're my favorite. I just think they're probably the best written and most engaging from a technical and emotional perspective. I think if I had to pick a favorite story of the bunch though I'd maybe go with City of Broken Hearts just because it manages to mix silliness with sincerity in a way that's a lot of fun. Similar to The Beautiful Ajatara but without lecturing the reader and while actually focusing on the chosen couple.

Issues of marketing, the meanspiritedness of some of The Beautifal Ajatara, and the "OOC" issues aside, I really don't get the dislike for this novella collection. We got plenty of cute/romantic moments from most of the featured couples even if the stories weren't necessarily about them and if seeing the different couples being happy and content together was meant to be the appeal then, Sebastion and the Seelie Queen aside, we definitely got plenty of that.

Overall, I think this was the best book to come out of the Kickstarter. It doesn't have my favorite story (Surprisingly, I think my favorite thing to come out of this book collection was Cassie's take on Sherlock Holmes.), but issues with the marketing and not being fully polished aside it was just plain engaging. I went in expecting the worst after seeing the general reaction and came out more than satisfied with it. Not that I disliked the other books but this just hits different and certain events have gotten me even more excited for The Wicked Powers to start. Moreso than even The Last Hours did. Looking forward to whatever comes next in this universe.

Better in Black Thoughts - 30% In

I've read the first three short stories so far and, honestly, unless the other seven are just that bad I feel like the hate I've seen is overblown. I don't much care for the Luke x Jocelyn story (I don't much care for the TMI cast at all TBH. Which is saying something because I don't find the Merry Theives all that interesting and yet I'd still take them over most of the TMI cast.), but I think all three stories were fairly romantic. The Beautiful Ajatara is obviously the weakest of them but....

The Good Storm was nice. Will's overdramatic ass is absolutely the type of person who would wish to erase his memories without considering the consequences. This is the guy who spent 6 or 7 years pushing people away because of a misunderstanding. He's, what, 19 or 20 at best here? I 100% buy him erasing his memories like the foolish person he is. Tessa also got to show off her smarts in figuring out how to convince Will to restore his memories and figuring out the villain plot. Sure a lot of the romantic scenes were sexual, even if not the most explicit, but they were still really sweet. Definitely my favorite of the 3 so far.

As mentioned, The Beautiful Ajatara is the weakest of the bunch. It's more about Lucie than it is James and Cordelia and yet it doesn't focus on Lucie enough. The discussions about writing are definitely meanspirited though frankly I've seen worse. And yet I still found it fun. It's silly and goofy but so were elements of The Last Hours itself like the paladin shit from the last two books. It definitely doesn't fit as a Jordelia/Herondaisy story and should've been its own thing, but ignoring the more meanspirited parts (Which thankfully were mostly contained to a conversation at the beginning.) it was fun.

And as for Who The Wolf Loves? Probably the best written of the three from a technical perspective and definitely the most romantic. It was a excellent look into Luke's character and the pining and angst? I've obviously yet to read the rest but I don't think the other stories are going to hit in that sense. I don't even like angst all that much but unless you don't care for the couple I don't understand why you'd be disappointed with it.

I went in expecting the worst from what I glimpsed in the tags but honestly after reading these three stories I'm much more excited for the rest than I was before.

do you think Nahyuta, post-SOJ, sees Trucy as a younger sister at least partially because Apollo sees her as a younger sister? Like a "Your brother is my brother, so you're also my sister" kind of thing? Would Apollo do the same thing with Rayfa?

My honest answer to both of these is no. I know you made a whole post about how Nahyuta and Apollo's relationship isn't ambiguous and how they see each other as siblings, but honestly I disagree. Yes they both acknowledge Dhurke as their father, and yes they both acknowledge that they were raised together. That doesn't mean they see each other as brothers. We don't know how long Apollo was raised in Khura'in relative to how long he was in America and while he and Nahyuta seemed to get along well as kids, they're not kids anymore. I do think their relationship is ambiguous and that it could go either way and personally I just don't vibe with the idea of them as siblings, at least not in the present and at the point where we leave them off at. As such, if Nahyuta doesn't see Apollo as his brother I don't think he'd see Trucy as a sister and vice versa.

Furthermore, I don't think Apollo sees Trucy as a sister. He obviously cares about her but I think he sees her more as a close coworker or a close friend. That's not to say that couldn't change once they learn they're related, but I don't think they see each other as siblings at the point the story leaves us at. And if Trucy isn't Apollo's sister, then Rayfa definitely isn't.

And honestly if anyone among the American cast is Rayfa's sibling it's Phoenix and maybe Maya. Phoenix is the one she has a relationship with and is the character she spends the most time with even if the relationship is initially hostile. I could easily see Phoenix seeing Rayfa as a bratty little sister with her seeing him as a goofy older brother.

That's not to say Nahyuta, Apollo, and Rayfa can't see each other as siblings in the future. Obviously Nahyuta sees Rayfa as a little sister, but I don't think he or her sees Apollo as a brother. Obviously they're growing a relationship since they're all together in the ending, but I don't think they all see each other as siblings at the point the game leaves them off at.

It was overwhelming—how easily she took control, how effortlessly she unraveled you with nothing more than her teasing caresses. Your hands twitched at your sides, unsure of where to touch, but the need to reciprocate grew stronger with each passing second.

Summoning your courage, you reached out, fingers grazing the smooth curve of her waist, drawing a soft hum of approval from her lips. Encouraged, you let your touch wander lower, pressing gently, feeling the way her muscles tensed beneath your fingertips.

Fugue's teasing faltered for a moment, her smirk replaced by a soft sigh as you deepened your exploration, intent on returning the pleasure she so easily bestowed upon you.

I love Laura. She instantly shot up to become not only my favorite Tropical-Rouge Curee, but my favorite Cure in the entire franchise. Hate her Cure form though. I think her hair is ugly, specifically the loops and the giant pearls. I don't much like the t(r)ail on her back, her arm sleeves, or that weird shoe + legging combination. Her outfit has grown on me a little but I'll never like her hair. Such a shame such a good character has such an ugly looking Cure form. Though she's not the first nor the last Cure to have that issue in my opinion.

So! I tend to flip flop on this one a bit! I definitely see it as a more one sided thing on Judy's part, where Samson truly does not feel anything of the sort... but then I'm sometimes like "what if in twenty years things DID change?", so it's a bit ambiguous for me as to exactly how I'd describe their relationship! Judy's super devoted to him, duty bound of course (lol!), so I think no matter what, whether or not he reciprocates, she will still be attached to him no matter what! I think if things were different, it could have been possible, but at the end of the day, I think it's a bit of a pipe dream on Judy's part... a girl can dream of course <3
