Dear Dan,

You break my heart. I don't know but looking into your eyes makes me want to just go and love someone for eternity. How many of us know how to love a person when things go bad? Leave that, how many of us know how to fall in love with a person after things go bad? To love and ask nothing in return, only flowers know that kind of love. When you met Shiuli, you were a bud, childlike and ignorant but good-hearted. After Shiuli left, you took her place and became caring, loving and responsible like her. She couldn't tell you that she loved you, but her love was there, it was present in the way you changed and in the way the world around you changed too.

So many of us wish to be loved, but how many of us wish to love? How many of us would give up everything for just a chance at it? This world works on practicality, Dan, and you walked away from anything that didn't feel right to you. You found love in the dreariest place there can be and you made it bloom, you took care of it, you loved like a woman, you stopped at nothing. And you forgot how and when to give up.

October was an unusual love story, and many who watched it took away nothing from it. But I took home a flower, a night flower, and a love that keeps it all alive.
